    Pre-Training Activities

    Training Guide and Training Techniques-

    http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0013/001356/135603e.pdf

Use part 2 of this website to get to know your participants, and how they learn, and for participants to get to know each other in preparation for group work. I found this imaginative, very straight-forward, well-organized and appropriate for adults. Multimedia learning can incorporate simple F2F strategies for getting people to know each other when the workshop is blended (i.e. both online and F2F).

Cooperative Group Activities for College Courses-

    http://www1.umn.edu/ohr/prod/groups/ohr/@pub/@ohr/documents/asset/ohr_89185.pdf

Use this guide to help participants practice cooperative and collaborative work. I liked this because it gave different activities to help people get to know each other F2F, which is part of my workshop, F2F time, and it lists the materials needed plus the time needed for planning purposes.

    Graphic Organizers

    Gliffy-

    http://www.gliffy.com/

I have used this multiple times to create high quality, pictoral graphic organizers. This cite is free for students for a trial period, and it allows you to easily use multiple, overlapping shapes, colors and sharing capabilities.

    The Brain 7: Mind Mapping

    http://www.thebrain.com/mindmappingwelcome?gclid=CLuwgNCo3r0CFQaBfgoddEoA_g

This allows you and your students to create dynamic mind maps which will effectively reach visual thinkers. This also allows for students to organize information based on the way that they, personally think, giving them ownership of the experience which will create higher levels of engagement.

    Presentation
    Movie Maker
    http://www.win-movie-maker.com
I simply love this tool for converting images and video clips into short movies. It makes editing straight-forward for even those who don't like technology, and is compatible with a variety of media such as digital cameras, smart phones, and DVDs.
    Intuilab-
    http://www.intuilab.com/presentation-software/
This software makes creating interactive experiences for your workshop or course manageabe, relatively quick and intuitive.

    Authentic assessment activity
    Tiki-Toki-
    http://www.tiki-toki.com/
Tiki-Toki is a tool for allowing you and your students to create timelines for temporal contiguity. Creating a timeline is an authentic task for people because they are actively involved in the process of designing. In order to make this into an authentic assessment of learning you, as the instructor, would need to design a very specific rubric for student referral.
    Rubistar
    http://rubistar.4teachers.org/
Rubistar is a tool for teachers to create rubrics for authentic assessment of real-world applicable activities. Think of, or have your students think of, a project that imitates something people do to solve real-world problems and use this tool to create a rubric for assessment.
