Located within the apple.com website, this link offers educators a variety of guides and ideas for integrating the suite of Apple products into their classrooms. There are many step by step guides for the different features of the iPad which include graphics and screen shots of the device. Similar to the first website I mentioned, this is a cognitive activity in that the users are processing how they could incorporate a device into their daily routine. After they have learned some of the procedures, they then move to behavioral activities where they manipulate the device as shown in the guides.

This Web site includes a collection of resources (articles, blogs, podcasts, and presentations) related to the significance of tablets and iPads in K-12 and higher education institutions. One article in particular discusses seven things that users need to know in using iPad apps in education (http://net.educause.edu/ir/library/pdf/ELI7069.pdf). The scenario provided in the article makes for a learner centered approach to learning, as the iPad is simply used to enhance student's natural learning in identifying stars and constellations. Additionally, the active engagement required focuses on cognitive activity.

* Mastery Connect allows teachers to assess any content and curriculum, monitor student achievement, and report student mastery to parents and administrators. It provides curriculum maps, multi-standard benchmark assessments, integrated standards-based resources and allows for remediation and re-teaching. * I found Mastery Connect to be better than other authentic assessment activity resources due to the ability to view current mastery status of all students aligned with state and Common Core Standards, and to have built in resources to assist struggling students.

Brief description of what it allows you to do and how it can be used for essential or generative learning: This site is awesome for creating mindmaps using a software that runs on multiple platforms and is adjustable when viewed. The most notable function is the collaboration function that allows the sharing or co-creating of a mindmap. This organizer can be completed by the audience member pertaining to the presentation material in a manner that makes sense to them. Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found (e.g., more effective, creates better products, easier to use, and so on): I have used this with my students and received positive feedback. I have even used it for some Walden assignments and feel it is user friendly and designed to promote collaboration.

A free, web-based graphic organizer. It is easy to use and share. I am using this as a way to organize the workshop and provide a visual for the teachers to have and understand the goals/timeline of the training.

Bubble.us is an online mind map that allows users to collaborate on brainstorming. Users can share their mindmap with others and provide access to read or edit. As content is added the mindmap takes on a new shape and cells can be color coded. Another feature of bubbl.us is for users to import work that has been saved on their computer or embed their mindmap. Bubbl.us can be used for pre-training which supports essential learning. I found this site to be more useful for collaborativebrainstorming .

This website is a hosting service that allows you to create pages, edit pages and collaborate with people. It provides a wonderful opportunity for students to create projects and get feedback from others. Documents, pictures, graphics and videos can be upload to the site. I chose this site because it was very user friendly with some Office features.

Wikispaces allows users to collaborate online. Features include embedding files and videos, invitations to members, and restrictions for access and editing. Wikis support the principles of generative and essential learning. The collaboration that occurs through the use of a wiki creates an engaging learning environment for participants to process the material they are learning. Wikis are easier to use for collaborative efforts.

o Wikispaces provides a space where learners can collaborate while developing a final product to demonstrate understanding. Pictures, videos, documents, and just about anything can be added to the site. Cognitive processing is at its best with this tool as learners create knowledge together from the material they have studied. o Extremely easy to use especially with the update where the teacher can create a class code to share with students so they can join the class from any wiki account.

This can be used for essential learning. This online bookmarking site is an excellent method to organize and access online resources with ease. As an assignment, participants will be cataloging resources and references to be on hand in the classroom as needed following the workshop. For many years I have utilized this tool, where I can access my bookmarks from any computer. In this day and age of searching online and linking from site to site, often we forget where we started, and what the initial subject of our search was. As individuals are actively searching online, they can simply tag their resources to locate later.

The purpose of this site is to create many different kinds of rubrics. A workshop participant can use a rubric to determine how much they learned during the workshop and self-assess if they have met the workshop's objectives. This site is exemplary because it leads the user step-by-step through the creation of a rubric. The site contains templates for all subject areas. Users can also search for and use rubrics that have already been created.

This site is a must see for all educators who are creating problem based learning or projects. Teachers can create their own template or use the read- made templates. The file can be exported for use or saved for future editing.

The site also offers step by step tutorials.

Glogster EDU www.glogster.com The first authentic assessment activity website that I chose is called Glogster EDU. Glogster EDU is a website like no other resource I have ever seen. Glogster EDU is a creative, dynamic and innovative digital outlet for online creations that keeps learners in engaged in course content, and makes teaching and learning more fun (Glogster EDU, 2009). Glogster EDU is a vibrant, multi-sensory learning experience which integrates learner's knowledge and skills into traditionally text-oriented subjects and motivates learner's desire to explore topics in which they may previously have been less interested (Glogster EDU, 2009). The reason I chose Glogster EDU as one of my authentic assessment activities is because I have used it in my classroom and it works great. Glogster EDU is a powerful resource to use with students of the middle and high school levels because its possibilities are controlled by the students knowledge and creativity. Educators can set up assessments easily and quickly using the resources provided by the site host. Glogster EDU can be used for any type of assessment where students need to illustrate their understanding of course content. Glogster EDU also provides its own video site called Schooltube where students can research, watch, and add video to their personal glog adding the much needed audiovisual aspect to projects that normally would have been text based. I also really like the fact that Glogster EDU is a private site monitored by teachers; it gives me a sense of assurance that my students won't be accessing information that could get them or me in trouble.

Glogster allows users to create digital posters that incorporate video, text, pictures, and sound.

Glogster (www.glogster.com) allows teachers and students to create interactive projects. Teachers can design interactive glogs for their students to complete or assign the students to create their own glog for a class project. Either way this allows for the teacher to really control the learning. Mayer (2009) would consider Glogster knowledge construction because students will have to view the videos, read the articles, and examine the pictures that the teacher embeds in their glog to form an opinion or to create their own glog. When a student creates their own glog no two will be exactly the same.

Wiki of thousands of educational resources. Some are a bit esoteric, included is learning theories - with multimedia links which is nice for us edtech geeks.

Great ideas for using Voicethread in the curriculum. This is a very large wiki that covers using VoiceThread in the curriculum. It is a the essential processing level, although the examples given likely prompt visitors to envision VoiceThread at the generative level. The site is particularly helpful due to the abundance of lesson plans and examples, divided conveniently by grade level. There is a best practices page with useful how-to tips and a discussion about how to prompt students to comment. Great resource!

Edutopia is a great resource where teachers share ideas, strategies, and resources. The link shared provides resources on teaching academic English.

Claco is a place to build lessons collaboratively where you can store and share all of your resources together with other educators. You can team up and create in real time while asking questions and learning with others. This website even helps align your developments to the common core. With one click it can be shared to students, parents, and colleagues. It is a learning network tool for designing essential learning while experiencing generative learning.
