    Pre-Training
    1. The site name is HTML & CSS Tutorial. And Stuff
    The URL is www.htmldog.com
The site gives an introduction to HMTL and its move to XHTML. IT gives a tutorial from beginning to end about hand coding and how it should be used properly.
It is better than others because it is a step by step instructional site the will help anyone with the desire to learn coding.

    2. The site name is HTML v XHTML
    The URL is www.w3schools.com
The site is what all educators in the web design field should use to teach beginners to hand code.
This site is better mainly because it is set up by the developers of HMTL and it is the protocol to which all designers use to create websites.

    Graphic Organizers
    1. The site name is Graphic organizers
    The URL is www.freeology.com
This is a site with free graphic organizers to use in the classroom.
This is a good site mainly because the organizers are free and because it has a large variety to choose from

    2. The site name is Enchanted Learning.
    The URL is www.enchantedlearning.com
The site is another free organizer site with a wealth of information on the subject.
This is a good site because of its variety and other information for organizing thoughts on paper.

    Presentation
    1. The site name is 280slides.com
    The URL is www.280slides.com
The site has 280 slides and more for presentations and offers ways to embed for use on other technology tools.
This is an awesome site because the basic plan is free and gives enough free memory to give a start up presentation. To upgrade does not cost a fortune.

    2. The site name is Prezi.
    The URL is www.prezi.com
This is a fairly new site that gives dynamic presentation tools to create top of the line presentation.
The basic presentation is free and to upgrade does not cost a lot. It has presentations that look like the ones you see on television for major companies.

    Assessment Activities

    1. The site name is How you can do it… Comprehensive Assessment.
    The URL is www.edutopia.org/stw-assessment-resources-downloads
The site gives not only assessment ideas but the framework to get it done and the tools to download.
This is a good site because it appeals to all grade levels and comes with templates for educators to use.

    2. The site name is Assessment Test Help.
    The URL is http://www.internet4classrooms.com/assistance.htm
This site breaks down assessment types by grade, subject and age levels.
This is a good site because not only does it offer assessment tools but it gives other resources that will assist in the classroom as well.

    8847 MULTIMEDIA/8847 ACTIVE LEARNING
Since I teach Web design for middle school kids , I have chosen the topic of "Designing web pages for instruction in the information age classroom." I chose this topic because the kids come to this class knowing parts or some of web building and using web code such as CSS (cascading style sheets) I want to provide the instructional service of showing them hand-coding and using templates and editors to create pages. I want to create a well rounded individual who can not only create the pages but be able to spot and fix problems manually. With this in mind I want to emphasize what Mayer states as the theory of multimedia learning: In multimedia learning the learner engages in three important cognitive processes. The first cognitive progress, selecting, is applied to incoming verbal information to yield a text base and is applied to incoming visual information to yield an image base. The second cognitive process, organizing, is applied to the word base to create a verbally-based model of the to-be explained system and is applied to the image base to create a visually-based model of the to be explained system. Finally, the third process, integrating, occurs when the learner builds connections between corresponding events (or states or parts) in the verbally-based model and the visually-based model. (Mayer, 1997)
    MM Artifact Websites
    http://www.webdevelopersjournal.com/columns/abcs_of_building_web_sites.html
This site is tutorial based and gives insight on how to create a website from scratch. It has a list of resources available for further instruction and gives the six basic concepts of creating a web page. This site uses a learner-centered approach because the learner is given access to more resources in order to complete the tasks. The learner has to also have a prior knowledge of some things in order to understand some of the web concepts. This site focuses on the second principle of the cognitive process which is organizing the information. (Mayer, 1997) The learner has to take the information and organize it in a fashion they can take to their long term memory to process later.
    http://www.washington.edu/accessit/webdesign/student/unit1.htm
This site is a tutorial as well on web design and planning web pages. It is a well developed tutorial based on videos and text as well as lesson practices on web development. The site focuses on being technology centered in that the student has to access other technology in order to understand. The student watches an embedded video at the beginning and then in the first lesson must access other web sites in order to further their knowledge. Mayer has a multimedia principle that states "It is better to present an explanation in words and pictures than solely in words."(Mayer, 1997) In other words, it is best to give more than one form of presentation to address the different types of learners and how information is processed.

    http://how-to-build-websites.com/
This website is a tutorial for beginners. This is a site specifically for my middle school kids. This tutorial focuses on the basics of web design and the easiest way to do it. Some items may be outdated but the video does a good job of explaining what is expected and what will be taught during the course. This site tells of hand coding and how it makes the created take control of the page and not become reliant on editors like Dreamweaver. This is a technology centered site which gives way to other resources and tutorials for different aspects of the web page. This site falls in line with Mayer's third principle of cognitive learning which is integrating, where "the learner takes what they have selected and organized and processed into long term memory."(Mayer, 1997)
