Digital Storytelling is the practice of using computer-based tools to tell stories. As with traditional storytelling, most digital stories focus on a specific topic and contain a particular point of view. However, as the name implies, digital stories usually contain some mixture of computer-based images, text, recorded audio narration, video clips and/or music. Digital stories can vary in length, but most of the stories used in education typically last between two and ten minutes. And the topics that are used in Digital Storytelling range from personal tales to the recounting of historical events, from exploring life in one's own community to the search for life in other corners of the universe, and literally, everything in between. This website lists tools for the digital storyteller.  While the information on the tools is technology-centered, the use of the tools is learner-centered as seen in the examples of the tools in action.

Useful site that gives overview of digital storytelling process, including some powerful examples. The site is generative in that it prompts the reader to apply the learning with some quality story prompts. It breaks the process into 10 basic steps, and it includes storyboard samples, needed hardware/software, publishing tips, and more.

This is an additional site on digital story making. While it contains great information it can be more difficult to navigate and keep track of important information. Users should be conscious of where they find valuable information. 

Consider this a storytelling presentation tool with powers. Haiku Deck takes your ideas and helps make them look professional. It brings focus to your presentation by delivering the message you dream up. Make design selections form millions of Creative Commons options and customize with a range of fonts, layouts, and image effects. "Death by Bullet Points" is no longer allowed as Haiku Deck limits your text on each slide. Sharing is easy through Facebook, Twitter, and email. These can be viewed on any mobile device as well. This is a free site for creating a wide variety of presentations. Everything from using personal photos to using the preloaded images, to audio, blogs, cartoons, digital storytelling, and mindmapping is available here.

Celtx is a film and video pre-production program, that allows for script writing, and storyboarding production tools that can be used as standalone or online. The storyboarding portion of the software is where most of my emphasis was, as it is a great tool for creating storyboards for digital storytelling. The program can be used on Mac's PCs, and iPads for adding mobile capability.

Xtranormal is an online site where you can make movies by combing graphical actors with text to type in a script to be used, or record directly. The scenes then can be acted out and recorded, used online or downloaded. The video maker allows for the addition of background music and or sounds, different camera angles, and movement and gestures of the actors. This is a great program that can be used by teachers and students alike for digital storytelling. Teachers that subscribe to the pay site can set up a classroom where each of their students will also have access to the site.

This wiki is a collection of many resources for creating lessons incorporating digitalstorytelling.  The tools here are technology-centered - it is up to the teacher to use the tools in a learner-centered manner.

People can gain ideas, upload their videos for others, or receive teaching resources. Brief Explanation: Teacher Tube is a great website because it allows you to share information effectively and can be useful for others to review and receive your personal ideas and research.

Additionally, it is a site where teachers can post videos designed for students to view in order to learn a concept or skill. * Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found: This site is better than YouTube because it is strictly for educational purposes. Besides the fact that it is a free resources, users are able to view videos or upload videos to it.

TeacherTube is a video sharing website with the same features as YouTube, but for educators. Unfortunately, in many school districts by content filtering systems, YouTube has been blocked due to some of the content that can be accessed on the site. TeacherTube allows educators and students the ability to access various educational videos, documents, blogs, groups, photos, and audio to utilize and share in the classroom while at school. Many of these educational resources can be used as pre-training materials to a workshop, such as with my workshop on storytelling; I would show a short video about what PBL means as a means to introduce participants to the concept and to explain that they will be using PBL to design their own storytelling lesson. TeacherTube is much easier to access while at school than YouTube, which is why I feel TeacherTube is a better working tool for educators to use rather than attempting to access YouTube videos.

Users are able to create animated movies at this site using pre-loaded images. The creator is able to choose the environments for the scenes and the dialogue between characters. This would be a great site for digital storytelling. I chose this site because it is easy to use and free.
