MOD 3 - Course Management Systems (CMS) - 2 views

The Moodle CMS will assume a central position in my workshop. One objective is to have participants learn CMS functionalities. The workshop project will require that participants set up a course on Moodle. The workshop will be delivered through my own Moodle setup. In addition to the many other features, Gradebook, for purposes of assessment, will also be highlighted. I will use my Moodle to collect participant work through the Dropbox feature, evaluate the work, and grade the projects through Gradebook.

    * Name of the site: University of Wisconsin-Stout Authentic Assessment * URL: http://www3.uwstout.edu/soe/profdev/assess.cfm * Brief description of what it allows you to do and how it can be used for essential or generative learning: This is an index of sites to help teachers understand and develop authentic assessment, including ways to grade, the need for rubrics, and several articles to make the argument for assessments that are real-world based. The site is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). * Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found (e.g., more effective, creates better products, easier to use, and so on). There are so many resources here. I need to continue to explore the links.

Quizstar - Authentic Assessment - 0 views

Online quiz making tool. Well-suited to assessing essential learning. Explanation of choice: Free and, unlike others I found, was selected for ISTEs 101 Best web sites 2005-2006.

This site allows users to create online quizzes and organize results. This site is effective, because it allows the user to create questions that have multimedia files attached instead of just basic questions with no graphics or videos. Students can also review quizzes and see what the correct answers were if they missed any questions. The site also guides the user through any possible dilemmas by providing a page of FAQ's and a link to contact the QuizStar support team.
