Pepsi Refresh Project: Great educational tool - 49 views

  •
Hello group. I made it a requirement for my "Moral Problems" class (Philosophy 118 at Central Michigan University) to submit a proposal to Pepsi Refresh. Learned that it was very hard to get in, but with diligence, two projects out of 90 got in. One of my students is ranked 7th. We are asking for your vote and in doing so, you will be learning about how to use this as an educational resource. See http://ethics.cmich.edu to access more info.

Hope, that is awesome! What a great idea and success!

Bio-Cube - ReadWriteThink - 83 views

  •
Interactive from RWT that allows students to create bios about themselves or others. After typing in info, print out and fold into a cube. Very cool. I'd love to see a customizable version. Maybe if we all make the request to RWT, they'll produce one. Scroll down the page to "Feedback" and make the suggestion. I just did!

Wix - Create web & mobile sites - 65 views

  •
Great tool to build interesting websites/webquests. Choose from tons of templates, very user-friendly!
  •
This is my website builder of choice. This easy to use, drag and drop tool allows you to build beautiful flash websites in a matter of minutes. You can embed these pages into other sites and blogs. There are lots of good widgets including email forms and comment boxes. You can also build mobile sites. Build them by choosing a template and background and add the info, links and images you want. See my example at http://j.mp/ICTmob. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/ICT+%26+Web+Tools

The pink highlight is an example of a homework/note posting in Edmodo. You can keep track of who has completed the assignment.

Yes, how do you remove the stickies from my Edmodo page?
    • Roy Sovis

Cathy, I loaded the Diigo toolbar in IE, Firefox, and Chrome. It's the only toolbar I use. In Firefox and IE, I click on the Diigo icon in the toolbar and mouse hover over "See All Annotations". Another menu will open in whcih you can select the setting you desire in regards to public and private annotations/sticky notes.

I like using the highlighting and sticky notes. This can be a great tool to use with my students. Just like I am doing for Edmodo by pointing out the different features of the site.

OK. Nice. Now, how do I get rid of the notes floating on my Edmodo page?
    • A Kashdan

I started using Diigo, but I have no idea why I'm seeing these notes.

Ok, I read the sticky notes, now how do I remove them?
    • Diego Tutor

You can't remove them as they are not your notes, they were published by somebody else in a group where you have access to (Public, Diigo in Education, etc.). You have the option to hide them through the Diigo toolbar, or you can abandon the group not to see any notes from any member in it. :)

Update the KWL with how and questioning - 2 views

  •
This is an interesting way to think about how to update the good KWL strategy. It expands the scaffolding process to include things that would be the focus of how to go about answering the quesitons you've genereated & where you'd look to find the info.
  •
Very nifty way of changing something old into an even more effective strategy.
