You probably saw the title of this post and thought 'okay there's no friggin' way he's going to assemble a list of the best 50,000 education apps. But thanks to a partnership between Edudemic and FindTheBest, we've done just that. We've been working hard behind the scenes to build a robust directory of, as of this writing, about 56,000 education apps. But it's not just a list… it's a finely tuned directory capable of sorting out all the apps in ways not even available in the iTunes or Mac App stores. For example, you can now find out the average price of all education apps to see where your app falls. (Hint: the average price of an education app is $2.66)

Taking Yourself Seriously: Processes of Research and Engagement is the working title of a book by Peter Taylor and Jeremy Szteiter that assembles the tools and processes from research and writing courses taught in the Graduate Program in Critical and Creative Thinking. "For your research and writing to progress well, your questions and ideas need to be in alignment with your aspirations, your ability to take or influence action, and your relationships with other people. Some comments from former students looking back on the influence of the research courses out of which this book has arisen: Jane, a healthcare professional and story-teller: I learned is to 'hold my ideas loosely', which means accepting my own idea as a valid one but always leaving the space open to take in the counterarguments. I learned to give myself permission to be circular and come back to previous steps or thoughts, and I actually became more comfortable doing so. I was able to get engaged in a project that I was able to actually use in work, which was extremely satisfying. The whole process encouraged me, and I felt very empowered as a change agent, which could be an exhilarating feeling.

An AWESOME video on child exploitation/social media dangers. I think everyone should watch this and maybe try to incorporate it into class or suggest to your administration to use it at an assembly or a similar venue.

9. In a post, you argue that the inquiry science teaching cannot flourish with common standards. What is an alternative solution?  That's right.  We do not need a set of Common Core Standards.  I am sure that the teachers in your high school are more capable of determining the curriculum for your classmates than any national committee assembled by the most prestigious organizations in the country.  Education needs to decentralized, not centralized.  There are more than 15,000 school districts in the United States.  Do you think that one set of standards would meet the needs of these 15, 000 school districts.
