"My family room was Ronald Reagan's office when he was the leader from the Screen Stars Guild". This is one way Tom, our visitors, began the presentation of his wonderful contemporary crib. Obviously, our attention was triggered. This is actually the relaxation of his description: "My apartment is within a historic building on Hollywood Blvd across in the Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

Succeeding with Web 2.0 Projects-Special Guest: Terry Freedman - Classroom 2.0 LIVE! - 0 views

  •
I enjoyed taking part in this. Unable to multitask effectively when giving a presentation (can anyone?), I am gradually catching up with the comments on screen as I listen and watch the recording in bits each day. The presentation looks at the factors which help to make a (web 2.0) project successful, and includes (mainly) a case study of a multimedia project, and info taken from the forthcoming Web 2.0 Projects ebook. Thanks to Peggy, Kim and Lorna for their support before, during and after the session.

Affordable & High-End Web Solutions: Advantages of a responsive web design - 0 views

  •
When we talk about a mobile website, then the way of interaction via a smartphone is totally different from that of a desktop website. The biggest change is touch instead of a click and the pixel resolution. While creating a responsive website factors like screen size, support for adobe flash technology and optimized markup are also considered to be very important.

Cognitive Load Theory - UKEdChat - 0 views

  •
We all get overloaded from time to time, especially toward the end of a term when your todo list turns from being measured by points to metres. We all have our own capacity to deal with the issues at hand, and the ideas behind Cognitive Load Theory (CLT) attempt to maximise our bandwidth while streamlining the signals. The origins of the theory go back to the 1980s when a plethora of digital innovations changed how presentations were done in the business world. This trickled down in the following decades into how teachers presented ideas, moving away from blackboard and Over-Head Projectors to digitalised PowerPoint presentations. As with any new innovation, form overcame function, and for a period in the early noughties, I swear it must have been the law to cram as many animations and sound effects into every PowerPoint, and reading every word from the screen aloud was mandatory.
