The study dealt with the long-term impact of witnlessing interparental violence and experiencing actual abuse. Also, it was looked at if Chinese beliefs originated kat home could contribute to adults' trauma and behavior. Taiwanese college stuents were surveyed and each placed into four groups: no violence, interparental violence only, child physical maltreatment only and dual violence.

This video contains numerous statistics about how technology has changed and effected us throughout the years. It labels technology as a "fundamental shift" in society and it is for the better. Facebook has the third largest population in the world. More electronics (kindles) were bought for Christmas than actual books. Our society is changing to more technology based and the effects it may have on us are endless.

Earlier studies associated the first year of college with a dramatic increase in body weight, termed the "freshman 15". However, recent studies showed that weight gain might be smaller. The purpose of this review was to evaluate the extent of observed weight/body composition changes, including factors associated with them, among students entering university. Searches were conducted for studies examining weight/body composition changes during freshman semesters. Most studies were not comprehensive in assessing numerous potential causative factors for weight gain. Methods for assessing diet, physical activity, and behavioral factors varied among studies. Weight changes were often not quantified by measures of body composition (lean/fat) to ascertain that changes were limited just to gains in fat mass. Overall, weight changes ranged from 0.7-3.1 kg, but among individuals who gained weight, the range was narrower, 3.1-3.4 kg. There may be specific groups of students with a greater predisposition for weight gain and future research should focus on identifying those groups.

The text both agrees with and opposes the idea that adul tchildren of alcoholics are a distinct group. Two-hundred college students were placed into one of the four categories: Adult Children of Alcoholics, Adverse Childhood Event Group, Alcohol and Adverse Childhood Event Group and the No Adverse Event Group. These students completed tests that measured drug and alcohol use.

The study that was done was a 25-year study of the heath, development and adjustment of 1,265 New Zealand children. Studies showed that if higher rates of abuse were shown, then high rates of pregnancy and abortion developed.

This paper talks about the connectino between low health literacy and poor health. It hypothesizes that people with cognative difficulties and people who do not speak the dominent language of the country are more likely to have health literacy problems.

According to the media the ideal female body is thin, tan, tall, and completely flawless. That is what the magazines and the movies have taught us to believe and that is what most women have been made to think. However, the research in this article shows that women are more critical of these images than previously thought. It shows that women do not accept these images as what to strive for and they realize that they are unattainable and fake.

This articles purpose was to study the health literacy of college students. This article proposed a study of college juniors and seniors to determine what their actual health literacy was and what health literacy was expected of them. This study had many factors in their students that they too into consideration, including gender, race, and declared major. The study concluded that over 98% of the college students that they researched had an adequate literacy level.

Televising alcohol during sporting games is highly effective to market your product to a large group of minors. It explains how many younger athletes and fans watch college sporting events and alcoholic companies spent over fifty two million dollars on advertising on commercial breaks. This doesnt mean its only appeals to underage viewers, many legal consumers also watch college sports which makes a good argument for the people who are trying to get thier product advertised during these games. This site also talks about other ways ads reach minors and what effects and influences are given based of a number of statistics.

Girls are not the only ones who are effected by the media. Both boys and girls look at the media and react to the stereotypes they see. However, they are effected differently. Girls are effected by images of what they think they should look like specifically their bodies. This causes them to do things that are stupid and even dangerous to achieve what they think they should look like.

The media images they see make them believe that is who they should be and who they should be around. This is not always the most ideal person for a young child to aspire to be. These images effect children and even-more-so effect children with disabilities who have an even harder time fitting in with other children and accepting themselves. These images show them what they are suppose to be like and who their friends should be and this is why media literacy is so important.

In girls, academic achievement was associated with vigorous physical activity, and in boys physical fitness was associated with academic achievement.

This article talks about how physical literacy is important towards the fight against inactivity in children. It also talks about using exercise games with children to share knowledge of physical literacy to kids at a young age. Physical literacy and its importance are key to proper physical education. Unique teaching methods may also prove to be useful when it comes to physical education.

A sample was taken from 360 students that examined the effects of childhood abuse, parenting and well-being through running away and school involvement. Results showed that parenting had a direct involvement with school engagement, running away and well-being. Neglect during childhood was related to abuse while sexual abuse and living in a disadvantaged neighborhood were left with worse well-being. Running away was definately associated with participation in violent activities. Gender also moderated the relationship with running away and abuse in favor of females.

This study tested over two thousand students on their financial behaviors, financial tendencies, and financial knowledge. The study showed that students who had grown up with parents with good financial tendencies, also showed these strong tendencies. The study also said that when the students tested had developed good techniques at a young age, they were more then likely to have good techniques as adults. Lastly, the study confirmed that it takes a combination of financial literacy, financial behavior, and financial knowledge together in order to achieve a set of strong techniques.

Low-income black and Hispanic low-income women with children living in major cities in the U.S. were studied and no concrete signs of physical assault were shown in relation to their low self-esteem.
