It is three teachers' views on English and Literacy. They discovered that gender is a problem in literacy and that it cannot be ignored. Teachers tend to read their students papers in reflection of their own gender. The three teachers discovered this fact by reviewing a number of papers and answering three review questions provided for each. The results provide awareness for readers in hopes to reverse this trend\n\n

Lack of attention on this issue and resistence to accept this social role causes problems when learning about writing.

Teachers have goals of changing this so that both genders are on the same level. There are programs out there that are teaching current and future teachers of how to teach to both genders. Also they are teaching early childhood teachers how to make sure that the gap does not start so early.

They go to answer all of the questions through the research they do and have charts/graphs.

With more math education they think that we can close the gender gap. Also they found that women with job opportunities are helping close the gap too.

They question if boys are really better at math compared to girls. Yes, there is a gap between the genders that they have found by it is not caused by what we think. The assumption is that there is a biological difference but with the studies they figured out that males learn differently compared to females which is causing this gap. The education systems need to take this in to consideration so that the needs of both genders get met.

These reasons are the following: evaluative bias, home socialization, role and societal expectations, male psychology, and equity policy. These five reasons explain why males begin ahead of females, but by the time school ended the gaps closed and women out performed males.

Men and women have different learning, writing, and reading techniques from one another.\n\n

With new research done with monkeys, they have found that there is a gender gap in math but mainly in early childhood and that the gap could be closed. With a little extra training the female monkeys can catch up to the males. That extra work can close that gap. Monkeys and humans are similar so if we try the same ideas they did with the female monkeys, maybe as humans we could close the gender gap within math.

Web. 8 Nov. 2010.\n\nCollege student participants completed a web-based survey assessing demographics, depression, anxiety, body image, cigarette smoking, and weight history. Among overweight participants, 42.6% of those who believed they were overweight admitted to binge eating, while only 30.1% who did not feel overweight did so. Among non-overweight participants, 43.2% of those who believed they were overweight admitted to binge eating, while only 32.9% of those who did not feel overweight did so. Weight Problem Perception mediated the contribution of BMI on binge eating outcomes, and WPP contributed significantly to the prediction of binge eating, beyond the risk conferred by established correlates of binge eating ( gender, mood, and cigarette smoking). Results suggest that when assessing risk for binge eating, a one-question assessment of whether or not an individual believes he or she is overweight has significant predictive power.

Using regression analysis, the findings suggest that background scholastic achievement variables and race influence university academic performance for student athletes, but sport participation measures and race are negatively related to university academic performance for males only. They focus on the grades 7 through 10. They use a three step program to see the growth with the students. Also they control what goes on the in the class room and talk about what they discovered. Results show that home resources, individual behavior problems, and attitude toward mathematics were related to growth in mathematics. It also talked about how if a student started in a higher level math class there was not much growth difference.

It shows statistics on how much the cost of a student would spend depending on their physical activity as well. Overall, college can have an extreme impact on a students' life.
