The article suggests that young adults who have a strong family background, and have received financial knowledge from either their parents, or a close mentor, will do much better with managing their finances. The journal's main emphasis was to show which parts of financial literacy was influenced by these standards. Although most students financial knowledge was no greater then the next, most that came from a strong family background had higher financial behavior and financial attitude.

Two studies were performed trying to determine if there is a relationship, because not much research has been completed. On top of that most of the research has yielded different results. These two studies did not see a connection between the use of textisms and formal writing, but it did between the use of textisms and informal writing.

Graphs are also shown in this article of two instruments used to measure health literacy: Rapid Estimate of Adult Literacy in Medicine (REALM) and the Test of Functional Health Literacy in Adults(TOFHLA). It shows the studies on these graphs and the conclusions that they came up with about the health literacy in Americans. The main goal in all of this research is too improve health care in all of its aspects.

It provides analysis and interviews with each individual as they reflect on how they learned language and how to read as young children. Many deaf blind people tend to isolate themselves and remain illiterate in their home for most of their lives. However the story of these three individual is different. For them they are readers who enjoy reading for pleasure and have achieved higher levels of education because of their reading skills. These three people all used computer technology, scanners, print enlargers, and JAWS software. These people stress the importance that technology played along their journey to literacy.

In the journal, there was a study done on high school and college level aged students who were asked questions regarding inflation, interest rates, and risk diversification. The best part of this article is that it show that students who are from a solid background, or have been to college, know much more about financiall literacy and how their money will spent in the future. I can use much of this information and studies in my paper.

The authors strive to evaluate these effects in this article, which describes a study they performed. The first part of the study analyzed how the number of text messages sent along with the knowledge of "textisms" affect performance on a standardized test known as the Key Stage test. The second part focused on the link between the use of "textisms" and spelling and writing. From this study and the results it produced, the authors determined that, in general, there is not a connection between text messaging and poor writing and reading abilities.
