Northridge is one of a number of Utah schools that are starting to use cell phone text messaging as a tool rather than see it only as a menacing distraction. Throughout the state, coaches notify their players of schedule changes via text messages, and some teachers have even started incorporating texting into their lessons.

Worldmapper is a collection of world maps, where territories are re-sized on each map according to the subject of interest. There are now nearly 600 maps. Maps 1-366 are also available as PDF posters. Use the menu above to find a map of interest.

Teaching literacy—reading and writing—is a core mission for schools, but today's young people increasingly "read" 3-D computer simulations and "write" via social networks such as Facebook. A growing chorus of experts say schools should add these forms of communication to their literacy mission as "technology literacy."
