Xbox owns your TV - 0 views

  •
Xbox owns your TV Voice commands will be a big part of interacting with the One. While we can assume youll still be able to navigate via your controller or Smart Glass app, Yusef Mehdi, Microsoft's senior vice president of interactive entertainment, demonstrated how to navigate the One using voice commands and gesture control with the updated Kinect sensor. Xbox One Users can instantly activate the One by uttering "Xbox On." The Xbox will be able to differentiate the user's voice and automatically remember where that particular user last left off in the dashboard. One of the most impressive features demonstrated Tuesday was Xbox One's Instant Switching, which moves between functions with little latency. Like the current Xbox Kinect, users can switch between functions with voice commands such as "Xbox go to music" and "Xbox go to game," but the One is able to do it with the ease of switching between television channels. One of the biggest additions is the introduction of live television streams into the Xbox experience. Users can instantly switch to live TV via a prompt of "Xbox Live TV." The One even features a TV Guide-like "Xbox One Guide," which shows what television is available right now alongside on-demand content. Additionally, users will be able to organize media content by "favorites" as well as by what content is currently trending in popularity. Borrowing a trick from Windows 8, the One's new Snap Mode will allow users to multitask between different apps and functions on the same screen. For example, if youre watching a live sporting event, you can prompt the One to access your updated fantasy league stats or search the Web for using Explorer-all in one screen. One will also offer Skype integration and allow users to video chat using the network directly through the Kinect sensor. In effect, Xbox will make any TV it is attached to a smart TV-smarter and more functional than almost any TV we've see

EdCompBlog: Social Annotation - 0 views

  • It reminded me of the the review tools in Microsoft Word which I've used a few times with students - someone sends me a Word document and I add comments and suggested edits. The review tools can track changes I make as well as highlighting sections and adding notes in the margin. I can then send the annotated Word document back to the author and a conversation grows around the original document and our comments. When I first started using this feature of Word, I thought it would be great if you could do that with web pages. Imagine being able to get a class of students to collaborate on a web page: to highlighting sections, share their understanding, ask questions and add extra information. With diigo, that's exactly what you could do.Add to that online social bookmarking (which can be linked to other bookmarking services such as del.icio.us), the ability to highlight any text on a page and search for it on a range of search services using a pop-up menu, to blog about a page and link non-diigo users to your annotations on that page (this blog posted was created using the diigo Blog this tool) and a host of other features ...and you have a stunningly valuable educational tool.
  • I have also found Diigo to be quite an exciting tool and this year my year group is in a better position to use it. I structured it into an independent activity during a literacy hour with my Year 5 children. Using Diigo I annotated a set of written instructions with comprehension style questions and the children answered them in their jotters. The children were accessing the site using a class set of laptops. I wanted them to respond someway online but took a simpler step to begin with to test the concept. It worked very well and the children were well motivated and on task - they managed well with the new tool and took it in their stride.

Knowledge Hunter: Search results for diigo - 0 views

  • here's Diigo, with communities sharing bookmarks, clippings, annotations, ...
  • The social annotation service introduced by Diigo allows users to add highlights and sticky notes, in situ, on any web page they read. Imagine a giant transparency overlaying on top of all the web pages. Users can write on the transparency as they wish, as private notes or public comments. And they can read public comments on the transparency left by other readers of the same page, and hear their "two cents" and interact with them.

Web Searches, DOE, and Diigo-Oh My! « Amy's Blog - 4 views

  • Bookmarks and favorites were all that I knew, Until I began studying EME5050’s module # 2! I explored Delicious to share and store my websites But decided to go with Diigo, because it looked and felt “right” A few pros about Diigo that intrigued me so— Was how easy it looked to research and grow! Collaboration could be one click away, To share information with a group any day. I also liked that Diigo could be shared all around I see myself sharing bookmarks and websites I’ve found. One more feature of Diigo that I find cool, Is the highlighting and note-taking tool! It will allow me to highlight with care, While the website can be open to share. So I have found a new way for my bookmarks to store, And I feel like this is opening a door. I am allowing other professionals to share in turn, While I’m building a bond with others to grow and learn.
