Bug Whenever I edit the titile of a topic, a click on Save changes is followed by: * error 500 If I browse back, I find that edition was successful.

  • I came across this site recently and I can definitely say it has made my browsing experience much more simplified and pleasurable.Diigo is a social annotation site that lets you post sticky notes on a webpage so next time you visit the site you remember something that you would otherwise forget. Just like that post-it-note that you stuck on your computer to remind you of something. Think, you visited Work N Play and added it to your favorites and you didn’t visit the site for a month ( that is rude ) and when you eventually did you forgot something that you wanted to say or write or read on the site. This is where diigo comes in handy.When you find a site and like it or have something you want to do later you can create a sticky post to remind you later, this sticky post stays on that site and you will be able to view it only when you browse the net by signing in to your diigo account. Also you can highlight texts on any site and add a note or remark as well.
  • Diigo also offers a toolbar which makes this process even simpler. You can sign in from the toolbar and start browsing the internet as you usually do. Whenever you come across a site that you stuck a note onto, it will be displayed. To make it even easier once you post a note or highlight a text on a site, you don’t have to try to remember it as everytime you post a note or highlight a sites text it will be saved under My Bookmarks in the toolbar. So next time just click on My Bookmarks and you can get the list of all the sites that you used a sticky post to. You can import your favorites from your favorites folder as well. I have been using this service for about a week and a half and I am loving it. It has given my aging mind some rest as I don’t have to try to remember some things because Diigo takes care of it for me.

Some Diigo Features: Tagging: An easy, user-generated way to categorize and organize your bookmarks Annotation: write sticky notes that can be made public so you can interact and collaborate with others who are reading the same pages. Highlighting: Easy to highlight parts of pages, extract them, and collect them (great for research!) Groups: you can create public and private groups—a great way to organize group projects and add a level of privacy to Diigo that you may feel more comfortable with than making everything public. Privacy: Options for privacy are available on just about all Diigo features Search: You can search not just by tag name, but also titles, notes, highlights, and full text. Blogging Integration: “Blog This” feature allows you to move easily between browsing and blogging. Populate your blog post instantaneously with the highlighted texts you selected while reading a web page - a big time saver.   • Why I am switching to Diigo from Google notebooks The context:  Over the years bookmarking tools have evolved with ever increasing ease-of-use and power.  Yet many times the migration pathway to new technology presents a formidable barrier to adoption, despite the desire for greater functionality. In my case, I have accumulated an archive of hundreds of bookmarks.  Most of these have been organized in the traditional way (folders, sub-folders) and reside primarily in my browser.  Occasionally, I need to dip in and find a bookmark, but flipping through folders and sub-folders or trying to remember and appropriate search term is terribly inefficient. First, Google Notebooks came to my rescue:  Google Notebooks provided a more efficient means of organizing and tracking bookmarks thematically, despite its inability to upload and convert my existing bookmarks, the functionality was compelling.  I made the switch.  Their excellent search engine provides rapid results plus as an added bonus it is incredibly easy to highlight relevant text from within websites.  Enter Diigo:  So why switch?  Features, features and more features.  Diigo is as easy to use as Google Notebooks with many more features.   These are the features that attract me most. 1.  Bookmarking and highlighting multiple blocks of text. 2.  Easy-to-use sticky notes and tagging form for rapid bookmarking. 3.  A powerful tag filter for rapid searching at all grain sizes. 4.  A method within Diigo to publish to my blog in Edublogs.  (I’m doing that now!) As a classroom teacher , I am intrigued by: 1.  The possibility of creating a shared resource with other like-minded teachers. 2.  Marking up webpages and sharing sticky notes with my students. 3.  The possibility that student’s themselves can mark-up nd share their thoughts with others students.
  • About publishing to a blog Right now, I am writing within Diigo.  I have set  up Diigo to publish to my Edublogs account.  So as I surf the web and come across an interesting website, I can highlight the most relevant text then right-click to bookmark, tag and write a sticky note to comment.  In the same drop-down menu, I can "blog this," which I am doing now. Here’s the link to a description of a joint venture to produce collaborative video for wikimedia.  This will go into my Diigo bookmarks with the tags, Web 2.0, authoring, video production.

  • I downloaded the Diigo toolbar and have not looked back. I must say that Twitter, which is now the backbone of my PNL has made Diigo that much more relevant to me.
  • Think Delicous meets Facebook (less the spam). You can happily go about your business of tagging the web - but - with Diigo you can actually highlight specific parts of the text on the page that interested you. You can then add a post it note type comment.
  • But, the real power lies in the ability for Diigo to become a community. Now you can save your bookmark to a group who share a common interest (some form of EduTech in my case). Now your bookmark and comment are that much more important. You can share comments on bookmarks with your group! I am sure that I’ll find more uses for it as the months roll by.   • Our school is modelling (and adapting the Napa Foundation ’style’) with teachers currenly heading to the US for in-school in-service. I just had to start a Diigo Group. Please feel free to join and ask questions. We hope to share our experiences with other PBL schools.
