The author in this article does a study to see if the relationship between teachers perceptions of the leadership of school principals in a large urban school district. This study seems very reliable because the number of people in the study is about 700, which i a sufficient number to collect data from. The article also explains that decision making in schools have changed and teamwork has improved and with the teamwork in urban schools it is important to have a leader.

This article addresses men and women in political coverage and the media. When women make decision about who to vote for, they rely more on their close relatives and friends, while men rely more on the media and other coverage. Men, especially when younger pay more attention to the media and read the news paper for political information versus women. The researches conducts a survey in which it shows women are tended to be more democratic than men so this can affect the way they choose to vote. This article will be useful to my research because it shows how men and women use different forms of literacy to vote. This is an outside perspective and it allows a researcher to see the other side of the voting process. This article also proves the point women tend to be more democratic, which can mean if a women is running as a Republican, they are less likely to attract women voters.

Scheibehenne conducted computerized surveys in a mall food court in Berlin, Germany. In a controlled setting, 20 different platter options of food were presented and customers were able to choose their meal freely. After choosing, they completed a computerized survey called an FCQ of food choice questionnaire. The unique purpose of this study was to determine the level in which humans make food choices based on heuristics, or "rule of thumb" choices. Interestingly, the results from this study show that the heuristic choices that humans make are just as significant as any other reason for making food decisions. This suggests that nutrition labels on a cereal box, for example, may not be influencing humans as much as the heuristic approach to food choice.

Today's consumers are faced with difficult financial decisions everyday. Making the wrong choice could cost someone their savings or their home. By becoming financially literate people decrease the risk that they will become victims of financial mistakes such as aquiring excessive debt or associating with predatory lenders. Many families have only one spouse take care of all the finances and this could lead to problems should that spouse die.

The source takes a firm stand on the debated issue concerning a regulated or unregulated market. The position taken is in support of an unregulated market as long everyone can make fully informed decisions in it. This source can be used to show that education can act in place of regulation and form a stronger economy.

Financially literate people are imperative to an economy because they make good financial decisions that help stimulate the economy. The author emphasizes the need for individuals (especially low income families to write out a written budget monthly. Consumers should establish emergency funds, practice good saving habits and have knowledge of investment funds. Through the surveys conducted in the article there is a correlation between knowledge of financial practices with and financial achievement. The author emphasizes the need to expand on ones' personal financial knowledge in a way befitting to the individual.

Children learn by example and it is important to help children understand the importance of why decisions are made in a household as well as differentiate the difference between want and need. If parents act responsibly with money, their children can learn from their actions. The article encourages parents to teach their children that money is a resource, a gift but not an end to a means. It drives home the fact the money alone does not buy happiness. Cross encourages stewardship and that realization that money is a way to share the benefits of life with people who have less.

I found this study to be extremely valuable to my research. This study examined the effects of high or low stress levels on men and women in their choice of healthy or unhealthy snacking. Results showed that stress levels do, in fact, effect human decision of food choice. Stressful men chose healthier snacks than when they were not stressed, but conversely, stressful women chose unhealthier snacks than when they were not stressed. This factor is extremely beneficial to my research as it may provide an explanation as to why humans make the food choices they do.

Literacy is a continuous, multidimensional indicator of proficiency in using written language. This essay reviews several recent books on literacy, and suggests some profound theoretical issues about consumer behavior inspired by a sociocultural perspective on literacy. In particular, ties between literacy and six diverse research programs on consumer behavior are highlighted: responses to persuasion; affect and decision making; the meanings of products and brands; social marketing of health behaviors; consumption, identity, and resistance; and the impact of the internet on consumer behavior. Examining a specific legal decision in Pennsylvania regarding high school curriculum, the author examines yet another facet of the evolution debate-the students' voice. All too often, the rights of children are overlooked in the development of or debate over educational curriculum. Grover cites the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989) as recognizing children as competent and independent thinkers whose input is not only relevant, but also valuable. The focus of the paper is on children's rights and how they were neglected in Kitzmiller et al. v. Dover Area School District et al, although attention is paid to church state separation and science education. This source is particularly useful for examining the role of the child in the education arena-just because they are on the receiving end of the education continuum does not mean they do not have a role in the discourse. Their voices are perhaps the most important of all.

Kahle commentates on the opening of the $27 million Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky and its potential impact on the evolution/creationism debate. Despite the legal decisions of the past century, which have largely determined that creationism is religion and therefore has no place in the science classroom, Americans by and large uphold religious assertions over science, a tendency caused primarily by the continual endorsement of pseudoscience. The Kentucky Visitor's Bureau, a department supported by public tax dollars, lends credibility to the Creation Museum as a "walk through history . . . [that] will counter evolutionary natural history museums." Placing science and pseudoscience in the same realm, argues Kahle, is a mistake that may circumvent empirical science as a measure of truth.

The study was made to determine what sociodemographic components affect food panel label use. It is targeted at adults and was found that more women with higher incomes are more likely to use the food panel. It was determined that the labels were used to maintain a healthy body weight based upon the information on the label. The survey was random across 50 states and the District of Columbia.
