D#13 HW#1--push fave web resource that will help you improve your Wordpress course blog: **This is a good one because it extrapolates on the "design" portion of a blog. It indicates what turns people off about blogs and how they can be more attractive design-wise. For instance uploading your photo is a big plus. It's a Do's and Don'ts on blog design so to speak.
  •
This was my second favorite of the sites that I visited. This site shows the design mistakes that bloggers often make. It haves ten mistakes, explains why they are mistakes and weaknesses. I found this all very helpful, and I found it to be a very useful list of 'rules' to help one make a successful blog.

Balance in Graphic Design - 0 views

This article is my favorite because not only does it give helpful information on how to use balance in graphic design, but it also provides great examples too.
  •
DD #4 HW #1 This article has great information about design with very nice examples. Some of it I was surprised that they were talking about balance because I didn't really see it that way but in reading about it, it makes more sense! I thought this was great information.

Principles Of Good Design: Balance » SitePoint - 0 views

  •
This gives a good thorough overview of design and how it's not just about symmetry, but about color and design balance. It also gives specific picture examples of each and how they balance each other.
  •
DD #4 HW #1 The descriptions of balance were very good in this article, I especially how balance was compared to a see-saw. In reading these descriptionsthough, it makes me think that my Rhetorical article was asymmetrical not symmetrical. Guess I'll have to read over and make sure I am thinking the correct way!

Layout :: Create Your Poster :: Creating Effective Poster Presentations - 0 views

DD# 4 HW#1 Although this is a short reading on not just balance but writing/creating an effective poster I thought it was a very good one and gave some great ideas to follow. For example, we are taught to read from top to bottom and from left to right and you shouldn't go against the grain when creating your poster.

I liked how the article showed how alignment is used in many types of formats such as web design, graphic design, and how to manipulate it. It stated that the way we align shapes, words, or objects in our design will create a dramatic effect on the experience our audience will have.
  •
This website gives some good information on different types of alignment and how it can be used. It compares the importance of alignment in the real world and how it can be used in design. This website also demonstrates the importance of a clean cut design in order to be less distracting.

While I was reading the book I wanted to learn more about the gestalt law of perception. I decided to search for it and this is one of the sites that I came upon. The term "gestalt" is kind of the psychological term to describe tools like figure, proximity, closure, continuation, and similarity to bring unity (repetition) to design. It is kind of a neat article about how we can figure out how to make great designs by finding out how we perceive things. I think this concept can be used to my advantage when designing for particular audiences

I think this website has a repetitive element again, because the TFS acronym is right next to the spelt out "The Fashion Spot" on the site.

This website demonstrates repetition because it repeats the logo twice, right next to each other - just in different sizes.

Drawing Techniques: Check Alignment to Ensure Accurate Drawings - 0 views

  •
I enjoyed this website because it gives good clear images of the way to use alignment and how to manipulate images so they are placed in alignment .
  •
The article uses pictures to describe how to use verticle alignment and horizontal alignment. This is a good example of how grids are used to ensure correct alignment with drawings and not just multiple page designs. I believe this shows that alignment is important in visuals.

D#5, HW#1-All About Presentations: Design Basics Part 3: The Alignment Principle - 0 views

  •
D#5, HW#1- I enjoyed this website for multiple reasons. First of all, I enjoy websites that start off defining the design element. In this case, alignment. Then, it continues on with examples of documents and even different real life examples including the benefits of the alignment changes. It compares before images with the after images just like the book does also.

This website has a 3 grid design but the middle column is wider than the other two. I think this organizes the page well.
