No offense toward any traditional Catholics out there who don't like the new pope, but I think what he has accomplished this year is groundbreaking. This graffiti is very cool and I think speaks volumes about the new demographics that this pope has reached.
This is a good idea and definitely is useful for all students to get to know the staff better. However, I have to say Randy's ideas/filming are far superior and TBN will soon be blowing the Bark out of the water. Today I saw a sneak peak of a video profile by Randy of Aseal Birir that was formatted similarly but much more professional and more interesting.
I have a nine year old brother who is addicted to his ipod. He doesn't listen to music, he just plays games with his eyes glued to the screen. If no one intervened I think he would play games nonstop until he died. Because of this I feel like he is smarter than me in many ways, but he is also lacking the observing and self-discovery that occurs so frequently at that part of the growing stage. For this reason I believe technology could potentially mutate the minds of future generations.
My question is not what do you think about his socialist beliefs, rather, what do you think the reaction would have been if it was Jeremy Paxman who had socialist beliefs, and Russell Brand was criticizing him? My point is that Brand has very powerful speaking abilities, and his humor creates a positive response no matter what he's saying. Do you agree?
I agree with Sarah in that YOLO has become an excuse for teens stupidity. Now no matter how dumb an act someone commits, it can be voided/accepted if that person claims "You only live once" as if that were an excuse for almost dying. It seems like the fact that you only live once would be more of a reason to act responsibly and less of a reason to almost die.
It's amazing the excuses people come up with when caught in the act of crime. An example of this is the television show "Bait Car", where cops purposefully leave an unlocked car with the keys in the ignition in the hood, and wait for people to try and steal it. The people who are caught always come up with ridiculous excuses.
I agree with devon^. If there is a gay couple that is the cutest and they win the vote then that would a great step forawrd for our school, however we shouldnt just hand the "award" to a gay couple just for being gay. This story shows how we as a country are progressing towards a happier, more open place.
This story has a very very very good point. If schools are teaching abstinence only education, and someone has already had sex/been raped, they will feel lesser than everyone else in the class. I think the only way to teach sex-education at a young age is to discourage sex at this time in their lives, but also teach people how to practice safe sex. I think what Smart is doing is very good for the world and more communities should have this type of organization.
This article can never be entirely true. Although I am not very religious, there will always be a very large portion of our population that is religious. I think in Mill Valley many of us aren't aware of other communities in the U.S where religion is very dominant and influential.
It is kind of ridiculous considering that the point of slam poetry is to promote creativity and imagination. It is very ironic actually, because creativity should not be a competition, and slam poetry is one thing that should focus on the individual. It shouldn't be a battle of the schools like football or basketball. There are some things that our schools should simply just come together for without making it a competition.
As long as the 14 year old had mutual feelings to the 18 year old, I agree with everyone above me. The homophobic father really frustrates me and he is just going to have to get over it and realize that his daughters sexuality is not a choice. He also needs to realize that making this girl a registered sex offender will not change his daughters sexuality. At some point she will find another girlfriend and he will have to just accept it.
While this potential threat is scary to think about, I do believe that this is being blown out of proportion similar to the swine flu epidemic. However, it is important to note that the United Nations director general said it was a threat to the entire world. But then again, the same thing was said about h1n1...
I always knew that diet soda wasn't good for you, but I didn't know specifically why. Although I don't drink diet soda, my mom does 2-3 times a week. It is particularly shocking that it has similar effects has meth and crack cocaine because those drugs are really bad for you.
Post traumatic stress disorder has always caused suicide. I think there has been an increase in PTSD because of the way we are killing an being killed in these modern times. Bombs and fully automatic guns can be very shocking to use, and to see inflicted on someone you are very close to.
As a 17 year old earning 11 dollars an hour at a frozen yogurt shop, A wage that I believe is way too high, I can infer that many people in this country are not payed what they deserve.
What do you think of Obama's initiative to raise the federal minimum wage?
Should congress follow his lead?
