This article discusses how us Americans are slowly getting rid of the influence of religion in our society. Is this entirely true? Can this article really accurately represent the opinions of Americans around the nation? If true, is this necessarily a good thing? What do you think of the article?

I feel like this article has a lot of truth to it. Religion is becoming a lot less apparent and less necessary in many Americans lives in modern time especially with new ideology. I am not entirely sure if this captures the opinion of the whole country but it might gauge a good look at where the country is going with religion. This, in my opinion could lead to many good things giving Americans more equality with more and more being "agnostic or undecided".

This article can never be entirely true. Although I am not very religious, there will always be a very large portion of our population that is religious. I think in Mill Valley many of us aren't aware of other communities in the U.S where religion is very dominant and influential.

I'd say that religion is still very much influential in our culture, and that its influence isn't as much fading as it is congealing, or sharpening, around certain groups. If religious influence is fading, its vestiges are hanging on tenaciously... Think about how much religion is inferred in our culture today; "God Bless America," and the pledge of allegiance are only the most superficial examples. Religion is less influential than it's been in the past, but strong religiosity is still cited as a driving force - and is a litmus test for election - of congresspeople in many parts of the country. Religion's influence is still very real.

Religion has never really been a part of my life. But its odd to see the conservative decrease in religion. It is becoming so much of a non issue and in Europe the statics are becoming so dramatic in decreasing beliefs in a higher power. I think todays world does not need to have a massive influence on society.

I agree that religion is loosing it's influence. I went to a Catholic elementary school until 3rd grade, and was raised very religiously, but now I never even go to church anymore. Although it is loosing it's influence, it will never go away completely and religion will always be relevant and present because of the people who are still religious.
