Springhill Care Group: Why Laughter is the Best Medicine - 0 views

  •
We all hear this often, laughter is the best medicine. Despite the fact that this may be an old saying, it still holds as true up to present. Laughter grants a lot of health benefits. And what makes it a lot better, best of all, it is free and easy. Laughter helps to unite people going through difficult times this is according to HelpGuide.org. It can be able to also mend feelings of defeat and resentment, make anger softer, and generally help people become resilient or even losing someone. The therapeutic effortlessness of a soft smile or a hearty belly laugh has more of benefits than what was mentioned. It is much like of an exercise, there are many benefits plus the physical benefits of laughter can last for hours. These helpful gains may aid to: * Brighten mental clarity * Reduce blood pressure * Spark the immune system * Relax muscles and ease digestion * Release endorphins to dampen pain * Boost oxygen levels to the brain and circulatory system As a universal lingo, laughter is capable of also building social ties and dispersing anxiety. It smooths the progress of relationship and permits attachments while dropping social fear factors. Steve Wilson, Director of National Humor Month and Founder of The World Laughter Tour, started an international happiness epidemic in laughter clubs and outreach programs led by Certified Laughter Leaders. His methodology "utilizes a systematic activity approach that is based on a foundation of both ancient practices and modern medical science," and it supports primary treatment as an adjunctive therapeutic modality. Group laughter can also save you away from pain and depression through natural release even though anger and crying has long been conventional vehicles for catharsis and release in psychotherapy. Its consequence can be in impulsiveness of thinking and make the horrifying more reachable. This constructs a height of consciousness where one can move a bit further and w

Springhill Care Group: All eyes on Foxconn inspection - 0 views

  •
Foxconn Technology, one of the largest electronics manufacturers in the world and the center of the recent Apple labor scandal, has announced on Saturday that it will reduce overtime and increase wages in their factories. Foxconn's announcement that they will increase wages up to 25% (which is about USD 400 a month) came after they have been put in the spotlight for the bad working conditions on its factories. Factories depend on the workers being present for 6-7 days per week, sometimes for as long as fourteen hours each day. Their workers welcomed the announcement on overtime limits and raises but some are understandably skeptical if it would be realized. In order to satisfy their critics, Apple hired a labor group to inspect the factories they work with. Fair Labor Association, a watchdog for working conditions has reportedly found 'tons of issues' in the Foxconn plan in Shenzhen, China. The FLA monitoring team composed of 30 members is set to interview 35,000 randomly picked employees of Foxconn. A premature pronouncement from a member of the monitoring team sparked outrage - that he issued assessments already even before workers have been interviewed should have no room in the official conclusion. It is amazing how someone in the inspection group could conclude positivelywith only a hosted tour of the plant as his basis. He even said that the Foxconn plant is one of the best ones in the country. In reality, alleged violations could be very difficult to detect during an inspection because the owner will be forwarned and can promptly arrange a cover-up. Foxconn is one of China's biggest employers, with 1.2 million workers housed in room with boiler near their factories. They assemble around 40% of the total amount of electronic devices sold worldwide. Apart from Apple, their clients include Toshiba, IBM, HP, Sony, Dell and others. According to a recent government report, this year's shortage in labor is worse than t

Springhill Home Care Group: Mid-life stress 'precedes dementia' http://springhillcaregroup.net/archives/269 Current evidence suggest the best ways to reduce the risk of dementia are to eat a balanced diet, take regular exercise, not smoke, and keep blood pressure and cholesterol in check" - Dr Simon Ridley Alzheimer's Research UK According to the latest research, women who suffer from a lot of stress in middle age may increase their risk of developing dementia in later life. Furthermore the study says that mid-life stress may increase a woman's risk of developing dementia. Eight hundred women were subjected to study and they have found out that those who had to cope with events such as divorce or bereavement were more likely to get Alzheimer's decades later. BMJ Open reports says, the more stressful events there were, the higher the dementia risk became. According to the study authors, stress hormones may be to blame, triggering harmful alterations in the brain. Many changes in the body is caused by stressed hormones, it can also affect many things like blood pressure and blood sugar control. And they can remain at high levels many years after experiencing a traumatic event, Dr Lena Johansson and colleagues explain. However they also claim that they need more work to verify their findings and determine whether the same stress and dementia link might also occur in men. The study went like this, the women underwent a battery of tests and examinations when they were in either their late 30s, mid-40s or 50s, and then again at regular intervals over the next four decades. One in four women said at some part in the start of the study that they had experienced at least one stressful event, such as widowhood or unemployment. A comparable proportion had suffered at least two stressful events, whereas one in five had experienced at least three. The remaining women had either experienced more than this or none. Four hundred twenty five of the women died and 153

Time is very essential to everybody. We will never know when were going to loose it. Today everyone seems to be very busy, everybody has to live and in order to live one must work for them. But we cannot work and take care of our parents or grandparents who's getting older and requires more care and attention. We became more concern about their safety at home. It's not an easy task caring for the elderly, especially if you are trying to do it alone. And aside from work, there comes a time when you will need a break, or just some time alone for yourself. With the constant worry that something may go wrong, the respites and personal time become nonexistent. Sometimes we are left with tough decision, whether or not an elderly family member should move into an assisted living facility is often one of the key questions. Home care for the elderly is an option for caregivers who need extra help while offering the elderly person a good quality of life for the rest of their years. To make your decision a lot easier, these advantages of letting elderly live in Home care might help you decide: 1. Seniors are getting more sensitive than usual. One advantage of leeting them stay in home care can give them the sense of freedom, and freedom for them could mean maintaining dignity, dignity which is something seniors feels like loosing as they age. This freedom would not be possible in an assisted living residence. This freedom could also mean that those who receive homecare can come and go as they please-for whatever reason. They can also choose their own meal times so they can eat whenever they are hungry unlike if meals are served to them, they might feel like prisoners. They are left with the feeling of they can decide for themselves. 2. It is proven that caring for pets can reduce stress levels and was also proven to have health benefits for seniors. Homes allow elderly to keep their pets and even beloved possessions with them for these possessions are tied

Home Care Group Springhill Blog Reviews: Technology helps elderly to stay at home - 1 views

http://www.zimbio.com/Springhill+Care+Group/articles/OBWSq8l9gq3/Home+Care+Group+Springhill+Blog+Reviews+Technology?add=True There's no place like home - especially when it comes to helping older people and those with care needs to maintain their wellbeing and independence within their communities. This is why there's a growing drive to integrate housing provision with health and social care. But how exactly can housing providers ensure they deliver the right facilities and support for vulnerable people, to help build integrated and sustainable communities? I believe the housing sector's skills and resources will be key to helping social care and health providers sustain services while budgets are reducing, and provide a better experience for those with long-term needs. http://www.slideshare.net/allanbrooks03/home-care-group-springhill-blog-reviews-technology-helps-elderly-to-stay-at-home

Home Instead Senior Care Launches Senior Fraud Awareness Campaign - 1 views

  •
Home Instead Senior Care, the nation's largest provider of in-home companion care services, today announced the launch of its Protect Seniors from FraudSM program. This new initiative empowers older Americans and their families by arming them with the information and tools they need to help protect themselves from con artists targeting the elderly. These scammers are proving successful with victims of elder financial abuse currently estimated to experience an annual financial loss of $2.9 billion.* Often retired, less mobile, more reliant on others and home for unannounced calls or visits, seniors are frequently perceived as "easy prey" by scammers. Seniors are also quickly becoming the largest population segment. Coupled, these trends increase the risk for a number of crimes -particularly those involving identity theft, Medicaid/Medicare fraud and financial exploitation. "Increasingly, scams targeting seniors are a threat to the financial stability and safety of our nation's seniors, putting many at risk for losing their life savings or homes-not to mention their trust in others," said Jisella Dolan, Vice President and General Counsel, Home Instead, Inc., the franchisor for Home Instead Senior Care. "But there are easy steps seniors and their families can take to help prevent these crimes. Protect Seniors from Fraud will help reduce the risk by educating potential victims." The Protect Seniors from Fraud program, developed with expert advice from senior-crime prevention organization the National Association of Triads, Inc., provides a number of free online resources, including a Senior Fraud Protection Kit with scam prevention tips, risk assessment tools, and advice on what to do if you or a loved one is scammed. Specific precautions found in these materials, which seniors and their families can implement to help avoid falling victim to con artists, include: Shredding any documents useful to crimin

Springhill: Thermostats and controls - 0 views

  •
The right heating controls will let you keep your home at a comfortable temperature without wasting fuel or heat - so you'll reduce your carbon dioxide emissions and spend less on heating bills. If you have an electric storage heating and hot water system, with storage heaters use the off-peak electricity to 'charge up' overnight and then release heat during the day, you'll need a different set of controls. Find out more about electric heating and hot water controls. If your home is heated by a system of water-filled pipes and radiators running from a boiler, you have a 'wet' central heating system, whether it is gas, LPG or oil-fired. Your full set of controls should ideally include a boiler thermostat, a timer or programmer, a room thermostat and thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs). How much can you save? Temperature controls Timing controls What we recommend How much can you save? Whatever the age of your boiler, the right controls will let you set your heating and hot water to come on and off when you need them, heat just the areas of your home you want, and decide how warm you want each area to be. Here are the average savings you could make in a typical three-bedroom semi-detached home, heated by gas: Install a room thermostat if you didn't have one before: £70 and 280kg carbon dioxide a year Fit a hot water tank thermostat: £30 and 130kg carbon dioxide a year Fit a hot water tank insulation jacket: £40 and 170kg carbon dioxide a year. You can also make savings by using your controls more effectively: Turn down your room thermostat by one degree: save around £55 and 230kg carbon dioxide a year. You can upgrade or install heating controls without replacing your boiler, and it's a particularly good idea to think about this if your controls are over 12 years old. Room thermostats, for example, are much more accurate than they used to be. Temperature controls Room thermostats These prevent your home getting warmer than it needs to b
