This is a great article about how to not mix up languages when you are learning more than one. In addition, this site is a wonderful resource for general language learning tips and tricks.
This is a great site that I used a lot when deciding which classes I wanted to take. Even though I knew almost nothing about the class, I felt confident that I was going to have a great professor based on a lot of previous reviews

This was a trip I attended along with my French class... very fun, very informative!
This is a great site about current world events in a level of French that is easy to understand. Not only can you learn about foreign issues, but I was also able to improve my french reading and comprehension
A wonderful organization that seeks to educate tourists about the dangers of volunteering in a foreign country. The primary mission of NGN is to return trafficked 'orphans' to their families, and expose the corruption around many so-called 'orphanages'. This was an eye-opening lesson for me, and one I hope to spread as far as I can.
This is the website for the program I travelled to Nepal with. Not only was it an incredible experience, it gave me so many resources if I ever want to go back to Nepal. It even gave me resources for making a difference from home, and I would absolutely recommend it to anybody who is considering going abroad.
This book was a great way to get excited for trekking, and to explore how Buddhism can be integrated into everyday life. I was staying in Nepal on the same dates as some of the entries were written, so it was very cool to be reading it day by day. Also, it explored aspects of Nepali culture in the 70's that were radically different now, and it was quite cool to see the overlap.
We stayed here for a week and volunteered. The atmosphere was wonderful, the people were amazing, and the food was the best I had in Nepal. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is looking to volunteer in Nepal as an ethical solution to volunteering in orphanages, which are often corrupt.
This book is a great introduction to Ayurveda and the doshas. It explores dietary and lifestyle changes, and what foods to eat for your bodies needs and constitution. I found it very useful, as it also contained a bunch of herbal remedies that I didn't know and were written in a way that was easy to understand.
This cookbook contains many wonderful recipes, as well as commentary on Nepali life and eating culture. It was essential for me upon arriving home from Nepal, as I wanted to cook the foods I had been eating over there but did not having many recipes. It also translates many common ingredient names from Nepali into English, which was very helpful.
Written by Mark Evans, this book explores the variety of herbal remedies and solutions to diseases and sickness. It provides explanations and descriptions of various plants, as well as their uses and functions in the body.
This book is incredible. Offering both an explanation of Ayurveda and suggestions of diet and lifestyle changes, it is a good introduction into the 'science of life'. It was so helpful to me when studying Ayurveda to have this book to supplement my classes.
Pema Chodron is a nun who writes about Buddhism in a way that western audiences can understand. Her book is filled with simple, applicable tenets of Buddhist philosophy that can be applied to anyones life, regardless of religion or belief. This book was very helpful for me in understanding Buddhism and meditation techniques.
An incredible true story about a Western nun who paved the way for women in Buddhist culture. Tension Palmo spent 12 years meditating in a cave on the side of a mountain, and in doing so proved that women are just as capable of extended meditation as are men. A great read, that provides lots of insight into Buddhism teachings and history.
A simple, yet amazingly information, book on the teachings and wisdom of the Buddha. Fairly easy to understand compared to what is out there, and accessible to Westerners. A wonderful overview.
A wonderful monastery located in the Kathmandu valley of Nepal. Holds retreats for people of all ethnicities and educates many local boys to be monks as well. I participated in an 8 day retreat there and learned a lot about the tenants of Buddhism from a English-speaking tibetan monk.
