This video has may be worth showing to Middle School students in terms of Etiquette and the use of some technologies.

This post on Naked Security looks at the Harmless Prank scam which takes facebook users to a survey and then spreads the link. The YouTube movie at the end of the post explains how to remove the post and clean up your Facebook account.

"Companies who want to know more about prospective employees can learn a lot by checking their Facebook profiles, according to a new study. Jennifer Golbeck and colleagues at the University of Maryland surveyed the public profiles of nearly 300 Facebook users for information about their favourite activities, TV shows, movies, music, books, quotes, and membership in political or other organisations. They also looked at the "About Me" and "blurb" sections. The work did not include status updates or other data that is only available to users' online friends."

This You Tube movie looks at how the US Best Buy chain is using Social Networking tools including wikis and other networking tools and spaces. Note the lack of mention of Office Suites and presentation tools such as PowerPoint. Fabulous evidence to counter arguments that we should be concentrating on teaching about the tools that workplaces use and not social networking.

Maureen Tumenas is assembling an ever expanding collection of movies of er class and others working especially with science. These are great examples of how video can be used on a number of levels. The videos are a great reminder for the students in Maureen's class, they enable parents to be involved in what is happening in the classroom, they can be used as a stimulus for other students and teachers can review them as a means of professional learning.

Mr Moses has constructed a compelling argument for embracing the use of social networking tools with students via a series of links and embedded movies on this media wiki page. If you're looking for those reports that you know would back up your case for using these tools then check in here as chances are Mr Moses has a link to them.

A little self-indulgent, however I'm interested in seeing what other people do with their classes. This is the montage of our recent medieval tournament. We also do an archaeological dig and other historical re-enactments. If anyone else has footage, images or descriptions of activities or re-enactments they do with their classes I'd be really interested to see them. And steal their ideas.

Perios is a program designed for creating time-lapse videos using either a USB Web cam or Internet camera.

This neat video from Google looks at how the Google search function works from the spiders though to the software algorithms that search the index of Search Terms that makes up Google. The only drawback is the self promotion tacked onto the end of the video.

a tool to create your mini animations by pointing and clicking. You can choose the setting, characters, music at the background and how the chosen characters interact in your animation. You write what you want your characters to say and it shows up in bubbles in your animation. Children can watch a video and write an ending for it or they can summarize a story.
