Audacity is a powerful open-source audio editor made available on a variety of platforms. The program includes features of recording, post-processing, and mixing. The editing tools featured in Audacity are powerful and easy to use. Users are able to create complete and high quality recordings from start to finish without having to spend thousands of dollars on professional recording and editing software. 

This program allows you to take anything that is showing on your handheld devices and display it up on a screen. Just like the function of AirPlay on an AppleTV, it shows everything that you can see. It is much cheaper than an AppleTV and requires no chords. Both audio and video will be reflected.

This website is a game developed by Carnegie Hall that helps younger students learn the instruments of the orchestra. The game uses Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. This interactive game helps students understand the layout of an orchestra, the ranges of the individual instruments, and how they sound individually and together in an ensemble. This is an excellent tool for elementary music!

Practice Spot offers free downloads, tools, and also items for purchase. Some of the free downloads include manuscript paper and music note reading worksheets. There is also a rhythm generator within the website to help with sight-reading practice. The website also includes articles about practice and downloadable certificates for congratulating students who completed some of the programs available. This is an excellent resource for helping students in and out of class.

This is a website that consists of jazz lesson plans that supplement jazz programs in schools.

This sites contains downloadable links that contain very lucid and practical curricular ideas and suggestion for beginning and intermediate guitar classes and ensembles. The language is targeted at two groups: those teachers who are starting guitar programs and those teachers who themselves are not proficient guitarists yet are teaching a guitar class. The "further reading" at the bottom is icing in the cake.

MuseScore3 is full-featured, open-source music notation software. This software is installed directly on a computer, and has compatible versions for PC, Mac, and Linux operating systems. There is no online or "cloud" version of this software. Although MuseScore is free, it is a professional music notation alternative to Finale and Sibelius and is capable of producing high-quality musical scores in a variety of formats. MuseScore also has full capability to produce audio playback, export to audio, and generate MIDI files.

MuseScore is a free music notation program that is easy to use and can produce easy to read, high quality sheet music for your ensembles. The interface is similar to other notation programs that you need to pay for. I have been using MuseScore to create etudes and warmups for my ensemble classes.

MuseScore is a music composition and notation software used to write/notate music. It requires the user to download and install the application on their system. This application is easily accessible and is free of charge. It is a software that is updated almost every month to make the features better. Muse Score has an easy to use interface and is a good tool to use in class for children to write down their simple compositions. Students are able to play back their compositions to their classmates, print them out, and/or even share them online. While using MuseScore, students learn many different musical concepts like dynamics, timbre, form, texture, structure, melody, repetition, phrasing, rhythm, tone, to mention but a few. MuseScore enhances the musicianship of students.

Remember when Finale used to be able to import pdf files? PlayScore 2 is a great work-around. Music scanning software that includes the ability to export as a MusicXML file or MIDI file which can then be imported into programs such as Finale, Sibelius, to be edited, transposed, or re-arranged. ALSO - this is a great tech blog to follow / subscribe to.

This site is for professional development in learning technical aspects of technology programs.

This article provides several ways to integrate technology in the music classroom. To aid in administrating, the article suggests Google Drive using Google Docs and Google Forms. I personally am a huge fan of Google Classroom. The article also provides software such as SmartMusic for instructional use.

Morton Subotnick's Creating Music has a variety of music games and activities that would be suited for an elementary curriculum. I would like to use this website as a center in my classroom, to allow students to explore simple music creation and music listening.

Creating music is a site preferably for younger learners. It provides practice on pitches, timbres, ear training, and memorization.

Younger musicians can use this website to understand pitch, hearing music and create basic compositions. There is an iPad application that goes along with it and it is completely free and a great educational tool for younger children.

The NAMM foundation is another great organization for music educators. On their website, they offer different resources for educators through the Music Achievement Council. They also offer some videos with 'tips for success', which can help you advocate and support music programs, and the 'business side' of teaching music.

Music Blog by Dale Duncan, a middle school choral director. Dale shares tips and resources on his blog regarding middle school choral pedagogy and also sells a sight singing method called S-Cubed that he has developed with his choral programs and has seen great success.
