Music for All is one of the more influential national music education organizations that advocates the importance of music education. They have created programs such as Bands of America and Orchestra America. This website is a great tool for educators to find information for promoting music education if ever needs to present to administration or teachers. It provides resources as well as tips on how we can try to achieve music education for all.

This is a website to use with elementary students for teaching about the components of an opera. Hansel and Gretel is sung in English and students are able to interact and make decisions about the production.

This is an online interactive game for EVERYONE! Students are presented the chance to design their own opera, embark with interactive chamber music, access music resources, and even engage the entire family with a family listening activity.

The Library of Congress website has a plethora of free historical recordings. For example, I found The Liberty Bell March from 1905. You should listen to the recordings in advance to check for inappropriate language. I think it would be very valuable to have authentic historical recordings for students to listen to, which would present the opportunity to discuss the history of recording music.

SingWise teacher, Karyn O'Connor addresses many current issues in vocal music education. She presents both sides of an argument, and backs her position with evidence.

iPad resource

This site presents the 30 best iPad apps for music educators and their students to integrate into their classrooms. The apps range in appropriateness of students at the elementary age all the way to the high school levels of music instruction.

Music Theory is a topic that can often be confusing when beginning to learn.  This website does a great job of breaking down the elements of music theory for anyone who is trying to gain deeper understanding of Music Theory.

This website is great for quick music theory handouts for students. It contains PDF worksheets to print and share with students. Excellent free resource!

TIME is a website dedicated to helping educators integrate technology into their classrooms. Though the site is education generic, there are a great number of articles pertaining to music education. TIME and NAfME recently joined forces to present a music and technology session at the NAfME convention this year, dedicated specifically to the music technology space.

With minor adjustments this can be a great resource to use for the "Composer of the Month." Mozart is not the composer of the month until January, but using this format can be helpful for use when presenting on other composers.

This is a wiki for music education websites. It contains many useful websites for educators including interactive theory sites and lesson ideas. This website would be very useful for educators who are looking to explore different lesson ideas and presentations with their students.

Pandora can be used for my students to listen to songs the orchestra is presently learning or planning to learn in the future. This always comes in as an asset because of our rote style teaching method and performing from memory. If the basic melody, bass line and chord progression is familiar; it makes the music easier to learn.

This is the professional organization that represents and advocates for the use of Kodaly concepts in music classrooms. Typically General Music and choir but may include instrumental pedagogy.

This website is a must use for any general music or choral teacher. It contains information regarding conferences and certification courses, as well as resources. Kodaly is a wonderful method with an emphasis on singing, music literacy, and folk songs. In the Kodaly method, teachers learn to prepare, present and practice concepts with students. Teachers also discover the importance of developing their own musicianship

This is a great publishing website with music for k-8 general and vocal classrooms along with recorder music. This also has teacher resources with a great bank of teaching ideas.

Music K-8 is an online and magazien subscription that contains valuable resources such as songs, activities, Power Point presentation, videos, etc. Each magazine contains brand-new songs according to each hlidyas of the year. It is a great resource for elementary and middle school general music classes.

This area of the Midwest Clinic website features the clinics and accompanying handouts (if available) that were presented at every Midwest Clinic dating back to 2000. The purpose of this section of the website is to share the sessions and their materials for teachers to access. This is a great resource for teachers to experience the sessions, especially if they were unable to attend. The sessions cover concepts from all areas of music education focused on both band and orchestra. There are many unique concepts and approaches to teaching music available on this website.

This collection of podcasts features presentations and examples of communities and school districts that have made changes to increase their music offerings to children. Many of the podcasts promote music advocacy and the benefits of making music available to all children.
