    Flat is a full-featured online music notation tool. The product has commercial and educational versions. The educational version has teacher administrative controls and allows an educator to integrate Flat into common learning management services including Google Classroom and Canvas. Students and teachers can collaborate on the same notation projects, and have the ability to integrate and link to external content (e.g. YouTube). Flat also has a plugin for Google Documents which allows users to create and embed short selections of music notation into their work.

    This website is a music writing software that can be used online as well as offline. The layout of the program is simple to navigate and grasp. Students can easily learn how to arrange or create compositions here. Collaboration on projects is simple. Projects can be shared with one another. There is also a feature in which a teacher can leave written notes within the scores themselves.

    FLAT is essentially Google's attempt at notation software. Thus, it is extremely intuitive. Though more limited than other programs, it essentially does everything a student composer would need. Students can sign up for an account with a Gmail address and can easily share their scores with each other and their teacher.

    Music notation softwares like Finale and Sibelius are quite costly for students to purchase and use. Flat.io is a free online music notation software that allows you to notate music online, and share it with your friends in the cloud. It is collaborative in a way that people get to comment on your music, and you also get to comment on other people's compositions. All you need is to sign up with either google, facebook, or with your email address. It is a good resource for teachers to set notation assignments, and while students do the assignments, they learn many concepts in music such as tempo, speed, dynamics, phrasing, structure, to mention but a few.

    MuseScore3 is full-featured, open-source music notation software. This software is installed directly on a computer, and has compatible versions for PC, Mac, and Linux operating systems. There is no online or "cloud" version of this software. Although MuseScore is free, it is a professional music notation alternative to Finale and Sibelius and is capable of producing high-quality musical scores in a variety of formats. MuseScore also has full capability to produce audio playback, export to audio, and generate MIDI files.

This application is easily accessible and is free of charge. It is a software that is updated almost every month to make the features better. Muse Score has an easy to use interface and is a good tool to use in class for children to write down their simple compositions. Students are able to play back their compositions to their classmates, print them out, and/or even share them online. While using MuseScore, students learn many different musical concepts like dynamics, timbre, form, texture, structure, melody, repetition, phrasing, rhythm, tone, to mention but a few.     The MusicEdMagic.com link serves as an outlet to other online music software websites, links for free sheet music, articles for music research/music making, and other electronic-focused music websites.  I was able to download free sheet music in a matter of seconds  from the musicnotes.com link provided on this link's homepage.  It has links to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest on the homepage, making sharing and communicating accessible upon first glance.  As an educator, I see this page as being best used in private practice.  Being able to provide students with some of the featured videos like "Recommended Trombone Solos and Recordings" or "Audio Software For The Classroom Or Home Recording Studio" seem like links that would be best used for people that are more interested in personal, one-on-one study and creation of music.  However, I could see these links being used in a general setting as well, like ensemble practice or music tech classes.

It also connects to MIDI instruments. Noteflight has a paid subscription which allows you to store unlimited compositions, full access to all sounds, transposition, and the ability to print individual parts. Student accounts can be purchased which you to create "closed" classrooms allowing for creative musical products and collaboration amongst peers.

    Hookpad is an interesting piece of software. While it does involve digital notation, it focuses more on notating chords and chord progressions and does so by providing the user options to use standard and non-standard notation. I love using Hookpad when my students are doing songwriting on the ukulele. It is easy for them to play the chords on the ukulele, then input them into Hookpad by selecting the chord symbols. They can then go in an add melodies as well.

    This is a free, web-based, cloud-based notation software program. Users can create, view, print, hear and share scores. This program is similar to Sibelius and Finale, but has the advantage of being web-based. It is MIDI and iOS compatible. Users can participate in a community of sharing scores. Noteflight is free, but Premium features require a monthly subscription. Educators can purchase a "Learn" subscription which allows students to have their own accounts that are managed by one (or several) teachers.

    This site is something that most music educators today are familiar with; Finale. it provides a free download of Finale as well as blogs and training tutorials about how to use the program. The purpose of Finale is to all teachers (and students!) to create their own music. It can be anything from an original composition to an arrangement of a familiar song to a replica of something that has already been created. Not only does finale help build musical creativity, but it also teaches students about the basics of music notation. This site is a great source because it takes you step-by-step through downloading Finale, making it more user-friendly, especially for those that might not have as much experience with more recent music software.
