    Great website for puzzles, quizzes, composition activities, instrument families and a great introduction to the NY Philharmonic.  This would be excellent to use before attending a NY Philharmonic concert.

    This is a nice resource for games and interactive activities to give students information on the orchestra/orchestral instruments, composers, and the musicians in the orchestra. My students love games and they obviously love technology so I think combining these would be great. This would probably be better for a SMARTboard, rather than projecting it from a computer to the TV because the SMARTboard allows kids to get more involved.

    This is a great website for students to review concepts learned in class. "Instrument Frenzy" is a high speed game that can be used to review instruments and categorize them by family.

    A great website for students to learn about the instruments, and people of the orchestra. They also learn about composers and compositions, and are able to make their own instrument, mingles, and minuets. A great website to use for elementary students who are learning about the orchestra.

      This method works as feedback. I use them currently in my school.
  • Audiation is the musical voice inside your head, something like your musical imagination
  • Professional brass players use rebreather bags, incentive spirometers, and other tools to create an air model and to increase lung capacity
  • Children are used to taking conversational breaths; we need to teach them to breathe like musicians
  • For the inspiration I recommend using a breathing tube – basically a ½ to ¾-inch piece of PVC coupling
  • I use “sizzling” and “long tones.” Sizzling is great because you have the students create a natural resistance that simulates what it is like playing the horn

  • Musiclock provides many background “jam” tracks (loops) that are written in a specific scale (e.g. Major, or Pentatonic Major).  Those loops can be started on any note of the chromatic scale.

  • The first thing I use is an app for iOS called Attendance2. Every kid is given a QR code, and when they walk into the room they scan in.
  • I like using SmartMusic, not only for projecting sight-reading exercises on the screen and running through them that way, but also for assessment of sight-reading skills.

    I use this website with my beginning bands when they are first starting to pick what instrument they want to play. It categorizes instruments by family and gives a brief description of each with a sound clip. There are strings, percussion, woodwinds, and brass. The woodwind section is missing tenor and bari sax, and the brass section is missing euphonium but otherwise it is quite complete. I usually show this while having the actual instrument out.

    Incredibox is a great website to explore musical creation and entertainment. Incredibox invites you to become the conductor of a group of human beatbox. You can share your compositions with others from all over. It's a really fun website that even students will enjoy using.

    Incredibox is a neat web-based app where seven loops at a time are available for students to use at a time. They may remove and add loops at any point, and there are unlocked special content available for certain combinations. This makes it seem like a game. Students can share their compositions, but unfortunately cannot download it without paying. Regardless, this is a fun activity where all the loops sound good-no matter what the combination.

    Incredibox is a web-based mixing tool, and its purpose is to create mixes with pre-set loops including, beats, effects, voices, and melodies. In each "dude", the user needs to select a "clothing piece" that contains a specific loops. The user begins creating their mixes, and can add and delete them as needed. Musically speaking, it is a teaching tool because the user learns how to mix loops ate certain points. It enhance several concepts such as rhtyhm and meter. It can be used by elementary and secondary-level students.

    Making Music Fun is a great website for resources for music educators. There are tons of theory worksheets (some more appropriate for elementary school students), lessons, composer biographies and worksheets, and activities for the music classroom. There is also a library of piano music that is well-written for beginners and available in a variety of levels. Some features over the years now require purchase, but there are still tons of resources available for free.

    On this site, students can gain further understanding in a variety of musical topics, some that they may be learning in school. Most of the activities are game-oriented, so this is a fun outlet for kids to explore outside of the music classroom. Students can learn about the instruments of the orchestra, famous musicians and soloists, and popular composers. One thing to note is that the descriptions are rather text-heavy. Therefore, this site would be appropriate for an older elementary student or middle schooler as far as reading readiness is concerned.

    This is an interactive website sponsored by the New York Philharmonic specifically designed for children to explore musical instruments, composers and some famous conductors. Musical games are available to play. Instruments are identified by sight and sound in the instrument storage room and is an excellent resource for learning about timbre and tone color.
