New Horizons is a network of music education programs for adults. New Horizons groups are independently run organizations in the United States and many foreign countries. There is a password, which is: Grainger The Band Director Posthaven began with the Band Director Facebook page and the originator of the page, Brian Wis, wanted a place to share files with other band directors. This is a great resource in which band directors share files and other resources to assist the daily needs of a band director. These files include posters, music (warm-ups, chorales, technique builders, curriculum guides, recruit tools and ideas, rubrics, music appreciation activities, band room rule/policies, how to deal with administrators, and more). With the resources being submitted by band directors, this is a great source for new band directors and band directors at new schools. I have used this site to find pitch tendency charts, scale sheets, and three excellent warm-ups. You can spend hours upon hours searching this site. Most of the files are PDFs which allows to open and print form any computer with a PDF reader. There are some Microsoft Office documents which can be a problem. On the Vic Firth website for percussion, there are many educational resources. This area focuses on hybrid rudiments. Hybrid rudiments are combinations of basic rudiments to create new ones. One example is putting a flam and a drag together to create a flam drag. Since new combinations are constantly made, there are always new possibilities being created. This is a loose list of current hybrid rudiments. They are shown through video examples.

On this site, students can gain further understanding in a variety of musical topics, some that they may be learning in school. Most of the activities are game-oriented, so this is a fun outlet for kids to explore outside of the music classroom. Students can learn about the instruments of the orchestra, famous musicians and soloists, and popular composers. One thing to note is that the descriptions are rather text-heavy. Therefore, this site would be appropriate for an older elementary student or middle schooler as far as reading readiness is concerned.

Very engaging and visually appealing website from the New York Philharmonic. Unfortunately many of the links would not work; however, one really cool feature is that there are recordings of symphony performances that can be viewed in a classroom. Much better quality of video than many available videos on YouTube.
