    Making Music Fun.net is a fun resource for both teachers and students. There are fun worksheets, and free sheet music for a variety of different instruments arranged by difficulty level. I like to leave these worksheets for a sub, and I give the sheet music to my trumpet students for practicing fun items in addition to their method books which may get boring from time to time. There is also information regarding composers, and is perfect for the elementary classroom.

    Has a variety of resources for elementary level music teachers. The collection of sheet music organized by playing level is particularly good. You can also access theory, music history, and composer activity worksheets. Also contains a large number of lesson plans with accompanying worksheets.

    The MusicEdMagic.com link serves as an outlet to other online music software websites, links for free sheet music, articles for music research/music making, and other electronic-focused music websites.  I was able to download free sheet music in a matter of seconds  from the musicnotes.com link provided on this link's homepage.  It has links to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest on the homepage, making sharing and communicating accessible upon first glance.  As an educator, I see this page as being best used in private practice.  Being able to provide students with some of the featured videos like "Recommended Trombone Solos and Recordings" or "Audio Software For The Classroom Or Home Recording Studio" seem like links that would be best used for people that are more interested in personal, one-on-one study and creation of music.  However, I could see these links being used in a general setting as well, like ensemble practice or music tech classes.

    Great website for puzzles, quizzes, composition activities, instrument families and a great introduction to the NY Philharmonic.  This would be excellent to use before attending a NY Philharmonic concert.

    This is a nice resource for games and interactive activities to give students information on the orchestra/orchestral instruments, composers, and the musicians in the orchestra. My students love games and they obviously love technology so I think combining these would be great. This would probably be better for a SMARTboard, rather than projecting it from a computer to the TV because the SMARTboard allows kids to get more involved.

    This is a great website for students to review concepts learned in class. "Instrument Frenzy" is a high speed game that can be used to review instruments and categorize them by family.

    A great website for students to learn about the instruments, and people of the orchestra. They also learn about composers and compositions, and are able to make their own instrument, mingles, and minuets. A great website to use for elementary students who are learning about the orchestra.

    World music resources including forums, FAQ's resources, new customs. It is set up for any teacher. It specifically says the teacher does not have to read music. The best thing about it is the forum. A teacher can learn from the forum buy reading other's ideas. The worst thing about this is they are trying to sell their books. However, they do have other resources linked to their website.

    This website is an important one for Florida band directors to have book marked. The Florida Bandmasters Association provides a variety of educational experiences for students including performance evaluations and honor band experiences. In addition, FBA is a community of educators who support each other by helping each other to grow professionally. The FBA website provides a "best practices" section as well as articles and other resources that are helpful for band directors as they seek to improve their skills.

  • In fact, informal reviews of private teachers' instructions for practice reveal that teachers commonly assign only what to practice and how long to practice, with little attention given to specific proximal goals to be accomplished each day.
  • This is in stark contrast to assignments in many academic disciplines in school, where students are given sets of problems to solve, chapters to read, or essays to write, and the time devoted to homework is determined by the time required to complete the problems, read the chapters, or compose the essays. It seems readily accepted in other disciplines by teachers and students alike that all students will not devote the same amount of time to assignments, because individual learners work at different rates and different learners will not require the same amount of time to complete each assignment. How long one works depends on how long it takes to accomplish the assigned goals.

    This is Google's free experimental sequencer, created in 2018. There is very little verbal information - it is intuitive, simple and easy, and could be used with very young students. It also could be used by someone who doesn't read English.

    This is another great, simple, web-based music sequencer that can be used to allow students to experiment with composition without needing to know anything about reading music or writing music notation. There is a large amount of sounds available and the sounds are of high quality. It is very simple to use and students can start composing right away using this site.

She includes easy to use labels to sort the blogs as well as a link to highlight her classroom design and organization. Her blogs range in topics from specific lesson plans to teacher self-care and learning styles in the music classroom. She is a Kodaly trained teacher and her blog is geared towards K-6 general music.

This website provides viewers with Mrs. Miracle's podcast, as well as, music literature, tips for teaching different grade levels and different music learning styles. The website also provides the viewer with free materials that they can use in their classroom and assessments. Technology is a big focus of Mrs. Miracle's blog.

The Google Apps that complement Google Drive™ such as Google Docs™ or Google Forms™ allow you to send information in a format that can be changed by the reader and sent back, or simply filled out and returned (as in the case of Google Forms).
  • n musical performance, we see this with Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) applications such as: SmartMusic, Music Prodigy, and Practice First. Depending on the software, these programs allow students to practice with an accompaniment (SmartMusic has an Intelligent Accompaniment System that can speed up or slow down with the performer). All the programs provide instant feedback to the user (typically regarding pitch and rhythmic accuracy).

    This article provides several ways to integrate technology in the music classroom. To aid in administrating, the article suggests Google Drive using Google Docs and Google Forms. I personally am a huge fan of Google Classroom. The article also provides software such as SmartMusic for instructional use.

    This website offers hundreds of interactive games to teach students music theory, rhythms, ear-training, sight-reading, and notation analysis. Designed to make learning musical concepts and take-home assignments more fun and engaging, these games are broken down into various levels for students. Lower levels can be effective for early elementary students, and higher levels can be effective for students in high school. Games are colorful and entertaining, and they list certain scores that students should strive to achieve. Most games have a lesson version, a practice version, and a quiz version. Teachers can track scores and data of individual students to see strengths and weaknesses.

    This is an awesome resource that's student-friendly and focuses on instruments of the orchestra, as well as composers. It creates a strong connection between concept and real-world scenarios. The website is designed around the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. There are engaging and interactive games and lessons for students to learn about the orchestra and test their knowledge.

    Very engaging and visually appealing website from the New York Philharmonic. Unfortunately many of the links would not work; however, one really cool feature is that there are recordings of symphony performances that can be viewed in a classroom. Much better quality of video than many available videos on YouTube.

    Teoria is a great music theory website. There are tutorials for theory basics and exercises for ear training. This could be very useful for older students, especially students headed off to music schools and will have to take theory exams.

This would be a good resource in a general music or music theory setting. Any music student could also use this on their own time to improve their aural skills.

This site is always under development. A person can be a member, donate, or use the many free interactive links.     Teoria is a Music Theory website (similar to musictheory.com) that offers step-by-step instructions on a wide variety of music theory concepts. The quizzes are helpful in assessing students in their understanding of theory concepts and allow the teacher to edit the types of questions on the quiz, the time limits, and the opportunity to correct the answers.

    This website was created by Jon F. Mueller, a professor of psychology and neuroscience at North Central College in Illinois. Mueller discusses the differences between traditional assessment and authentic assessment - two different concepts that have different long-term goals and outcomes for students. Mueller, a strong advocate for authentic assessment, provides various examples to illustrate the pros and cons of both methods of assessment at different levels and fields of education, while providing data and research to support his stance.
