DonorsChoose is a great place to start looking for additional aid for your classroom. You can pose a project that you need funding for, if its more instruments, books, materials, and/or other resources that you may need, but can't get your district to obtain. It is very easy to use and you create a project where people can find or search and donate their own money to fund. You can have several people donate and you can share your proposal on various forms of social media to help spread the word. The choral teacher and I did a few projects and we were able to get Orff Instruments, Drums, and even Ipods for the kids. You have to follow up with DonorsChoose and send photos and thank you letters from the students to show how you are using the materials in the classroom. It is a perfect way to receive that additional funding for your program.

DonorsChoose is a miracle for programs with little to no budget. You can create an account as an educator and create projects that go towards your classroom. You can ask for anything from Chromebooks to instruments and sheet music. Donors from all over the world can donate and support your classroom. This is the resource that helped me build my band program.

A fun resource for use with any age group working on intervals. Allows you to generate a list of songs kids will already know for target interval listening.

This site is a fun way to get students to start listening for specific intervals! It is loaded with different song examples for each interval. This can help students develop their ear training skills.

Interval Song Chart Generator is a listing of intervals and includes various songs which represent the interval. Simply select a song for each descending and ascending interval. Videos accompany the example, however, you can easily make it into an aural example. Once you select your song choices, then you can generate your own list and print it out. You can even submit your own songs to the forum. This is a very useful resource for ear training and specifically helpful for choirs.

There are 12 activities that can be used as teambuilding. They are new, fun and innovative. Used with Middle school or high school aged students.

I enjoy building things myself and feel confident that I could create this IWB and pen.  The IWB has numerous applications in the music classroom including all students viewing the score and circling the parts you are working on and how they relate to the whole selection.

Along with his band-mate, Ramona and their dog Zepplin, the trio explore styles of music, compose songs, explore sounds, have jam sessions and allow an interactive inside look at famous musicians and composers in their locations around the globe. Builds music vocabulary, music history and overall exploration of various genres. Styles include: Salsa, Jazz, Country, Hip-Hop, Rock n' Roll, Blues, Classical, Reggae. Good with IWB. A program that is built from the teacher's perspective, Music Prodigy provides students with an area to practice, using a built-in metronome.  Assessment is also available in this program.  As its name implies, you will build musical prodigies.

Children like games. They find it easy to play with toys, building blocks, and puppets. Children require an experience of creative play with music to enhance their understanding of musical concepts. This website's sketch pad and rhythm band games foster children's understanding of pitch, rhythm, and melody. Aural listening is a good tool for children to understand music. By listening, they get an experience of how an instrument sounds, what pitch sounds high or low, and how a melody sounds. This enhances their musicianship before they get into the details of these aspects of music.

Getting students to improvise is sometimes a very tricky task--lending itself as one of the most difficult challenges we face as teachers; however, author Steve Treseler provides a concise list of 10 steps, or strategies, for approaching the aforementioned topic with students, which includes but is not limited to building community through improvised games, choosing a piece that remains in one key center, and teaching all students the melody.
