3CX VoIP blog » Hotel Concepts - Brilliant and 3CX Complete Integration - 1 views

  • The 3CX Hotel Module is an add-on that turns the 3CX Phone System into a full-featured hotel PBX, and through the new integration, can now interface directly with Hotel Concepts’ IDPMS or Brilliant PMPRO. This enhancement provides hoteliers with a host of additional features relevant to property operations. Unlike other PBX providers that charge extraordinarily high premiums for these hotel-specific enhancements, the 3CX Hotel Module is extremely affordable, since it leverages low-cost VoIP technology.
  • Unique features of the 3CX Hotel Module now integrated with IDPMS and PMPRO include: The ability to automatically reset the guest PBX upon check-in and checkout, adding or removing the guest’s name on the voicemail system and deleting any leftover recordings; The option to block external calls to and from particular guestrooms upon request; The scheduling of automated wakeup calls; Guests’ names are displayed to receptionists when making in-house calls; Call billing automatically integrated into guest folios; The ability for housekeepers to deliver status updates and execute minibar charges through guestroom PBX phones.
  • As the hotel and travel market continues to trend toward integrated technology solutions that make operations more streamlined and cost-efficient, Hotel Concepts – Brilliant is an ideal partner for us to help meet that growing need,” Martin added.

The 3CX is an add on that turns the 3CX phone system into a full featured hotel PBX, and with this new integration, it can directly interface with hotel concepts 'IDPMS or Brilliant PMPRO. this is one of the inexpensive ways/means to carry out property operations when compared to other PBX providers who charge high premiums, making it very affordable along with the VoIP technology. since the hotel and travel market is on an upward trend , integrated technology solutions like these can make those operations cost-efficient, as making calls all over the world is so expensive, and along with this, also streamline the operations by combining the extensive telephony experience with the knowledge of the global hotel industry, which will also set new standards in hotel management and communication.

Rainwater Harvesting Mandatory in Karnataka State, including Hotels | India Climate Sol... - 1 views

  • It's good to hear that Karnataka has made RWH mandatory in the state, but what's more interesting is that hotels have been made responsible for their waste water management as well. At last when the spectre of no fresh water looms high in Karnataka, the government has placed policies in place which will force the hands of the wasters.
  • It's good to hear that Karnataka has made RWH mandatory in the state, but what's more interesting is that hotels have been made responsible for their waste water management as well
  • I saw the huge difference in using waste water and fresh water in The Serai's coffee estates.
  •
This article briefly summarizes how the The Serai resort in the coffee country of the Indian state Karnataka has been harvesting rain water to use for watering their gardens. This article doesn't go into too much detail itself but I did some other research and found that this region of India only gets 8% of their annual rainfall in the months of January-May. This really puts a strain on the region and being able to harvest and store rainwater from the wet season helps especially with superfluous water usage like watering and maintaining hotel gardens. The state made it mandatory to reduce water waste and The Serai has created a surplus. (http://www.karnataka.com/profile/rainfall.html) The Serai resort also uses other green techniques like using waste wood to make furniture for the resort. (http://theserai.in/en/responsible-citizenry.html) I think it's great that the government there has made laws requiring the saving and re-using of rain water. It is especially important for them due to the drastic differences of the dry and rainy seasons but this could be applied almost anywhere. Part of the draw of some hotels is their scenery and gardens but watering these can get expensive and become a waste, especially if there are people in the area who go without a reliable source of drinking water. I think policies like this should be instituted everywhere. I have to give the Serai resort a lot of credit too. Yes, they were forced to start capturing and storing rain water but it seems like they have taken their green initiatives a step further and do more than the bare minimum.

Are Hotel Groups Ready for Total Transparency in Traveler Reviews? - Monday, 16th Janua... - 1 views

  • s a particularly complicated dilemma for hotel groups, which must answer not only to guests but to owners, members and franchisees. One black sheep in the family can tarnish the reputation of other properties and the brand as a whole.
  • Social media changes the rules of marketing.
  • Travelers don’t expect perfection, but they do expect transparency and authenticity.

  • Accor was the trailblazer, having integrated TripAdvisor reviews and ratings on Accor.com back in 2010.
  • Unlike Starwood, Marriott doesn’t list the best reviews first, but, bizarrely, lists the oldest reviews first.
  •
Social media nowadays becomes a very important role in hospitality industry, and most travelers will search a third party's property reviews like Tripadviser before making their decisions to choose a hotel. You can find either good or bad comments for the hotels around the world from it, and people believe that it has some influence on the travelers' decisions. However, most great hotel groups do not have a website for that use, and Daniel Craig thinks it is because hotel groups not only take care of the customers but also the owners, and as we know hotel group also has franchisers, so if just one unit not operated well, all the other properties will also suffer the reputation issue. But there are also some hotel groups try to do that but with some tricks. Starwood allows the guest to post reviews for some of its brands and list by ratings with the best first, and Marriot set up a new website for its members to post reviews and list by time with oldest first. In my opinion, most hotel groups focus so much on the influence of their brand loyalty, which is also very important, but comparing with the increasing influence of words of mouth that I list below, I strongly agree that those hotel groups need to have a trustful review website for their own ASAP: 1. 90% of consumers online trust recommendations from people they know; 70% trust opinions of unknown users (Econsultancy, July 2009) 2. 83% of all holiday shoppers are influenced by customer reviews. New Hotel Technology Likely to Bring Sticker Shock - 3 views

The Hotel Industry has not kept up with the state of the art technology to the degree other industries have. It's at a point where a great investment is needed to upgrade technology they use both in communications as well as the unseen hardware that make hotels function on a day to day basis. The cost of replacement and and expansion of business data centers and security is very large. But who bears the cost?, since guests have come to expect ammenities such as high speed internet, but aren't necessarily willing to pay for it. This is an inevitable cost hotel corporations are going to have work in to their budgets in order to stay relevant and competitive

The Aloha restaurant managed video as a service platform which is the leading exception reporting and theft deterrence tool for the restaurant owners. By utilizing Enysion's video, restaurant owners can monitor cash handling easier, identifiy potential suspicious activity faster and monitor the exception report effectively. Moreover, Aloha Restaurant Guard which invented by NCR corporation can identified the common scams through analyzes POS data and transactions. I think that combine Aloha Restaurant Guard to Envysion's video, the owner of the resturant may have a whole picture of the restaurant in their mind through easy used video web interface and secure video clip sharing, data from the two platform and intelligence reports. This is a good model for restaurants to reduce the profit losses from fraudulent activities. Electrical Contractor: Hotel Automation Goes Wireless - 1 views

  • “We have wireless and hardwired versions, making it easy for both new construction and retrofitting existing hotels,” Sobieski said. The intelligent thermostats can communicate over a ZigBee wireless network, giving the hotel’s engineering team full control and monitoring of every room in the hotel. “With our EcoCentral remote management platform, shutting down a wing for maintenance is as simple as a mouse click. Built-in alerting also gives them the ability to catch problem HVAC systems before a guest call comes in.”
  •
Article speaks about hotel automation systems by vendors, that allow hotels to reduce energy and utility costs that impact the bottom line. The EPA estimated that in 2004 the hotel industry spent more than $5 billion on energy and that the number was likely to increase. Items such as occupancy based thermostats communicate over wireless networks and allow hotel staff to perform maintenance tasks such as detect issues with in-room HVAC systems before guests call in to report the items. Other systems use energy monitoring systems that allow for the hotel to detect room temperatures. This is significant as those rooms temperature and lighting systems can know whether the occupant is in the room and adjust lighting and temperature settings accordingly. Energy waste in hotels is an issue that affects the bottom line so the potential for ROI is great. Implementation of many of these systems is flexible as many are built on wireless networks that do not require heavy physical installation of wiring. Interested in the groups thoughts on this?

This article is about how the POS system works with the ipads. Nowadays, as the Apple products-ipad attract so many people, more and more restaurants notice that applying ipads as part of their point of sale system is a good decision. iPad users are running the terminals in a variety of POS system configurations, including those centered around remotely hosted software running at so-called "cloud" data centers, to which store-level devices communicate via wireless Internet connections. Many restaurant operators feel satisfied with the POS running work with the ipads. The ipads are attractive, and many guests are interested in the products. The most important, using ipads as part of the POS system, they can help speeds up the ordering process in the restaurant. However, using the ipads is not a perfect idea because there is a high cost associated with the high technology products. In my opinion, it is good the combining the POS system with the latest popular products. As on one hand this can make the restaurant more attractive, on the other hand, it is a good way to increase the service speed.

This article describes how there are an increasing number of eco-friendly hotels,(popping up) in general, but more specifically in urban center. The article points to be the cost of energy and the new abundance of green technology as the primary reasons for the surge in the number of eco- friendly lodging. The article gives several examples of how city hotels are employing eco-friendly practices and products. First, Sheraton has introduced fuel cells in four of its urban locations. Fuel cells are ultraclean power plants with up to twice the efficiency of fossil fuel. Second, Hyatt is using renewable energy source (wind, hydro, and solar). Finally, Marriott and Hilton are even seeking difficult- to- attain leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certificates for the U.S Green Building Council, which can yield significant tax benefits.

To make sure that all of our positive, local efforts add up to make kind of a major global impact.

Second, this global framework has a singular goal to help thrive. Third and finally, Hyatt is very committed to measuring and tracking the progress. They were very accountable. I think more hotels need to develop a sustainability program like Hyatt to help the world go green.

4 Consumer Technologies That Could Change Your Enterprise - 1 views

With the advances of technology organizations can create a competitive advange by implementing them to their services and products. In the past companies were looking for remote desktop software solutions such as "VDI and Citrix to hardware solutions like Clear Cube and HP. Now with OnLive Virtual Desktop which is a full window and office desktop shows how technology has advanced very rapidly in the last couple of years making easier the use of systems "The service has been in use for the last year and while I've seen issues in hotels and areas with older or bottlenecked networks, in homes with high-bandwidth connections or businesses with well managed networks it has worked well - granted with few people on OnLive." Some companies would like to apply the advantage of Kinect which is a motion interface for Xbox designed to play without a controller. With Windows Kinect will make more comfortable to managers and directors giving presentations without the need of a keyboard or mice. Windows 8 will allow users to control a computer cursor with their eyes. "These technologies could, using different vectors, address usage models for PCs that have been unsafe or impossible before now and better allow existing hardware to use Microsoft's next operating system." With the implementation of water Block ( HzO) applied during manufacturing hardware would be more protected " Given that moisture is often what causes electronics to corrode and decay over time these solutions could be the equivalent of a Fountain of Youth, significantly extending the useful life of hardware that operates in moist or humid environments." This new advances in technology can bring to organizations more opportunities to expand their market, obtain a competitive advantage and protect their assets.

Orion by VingCard Elsafe top energy management innovation for hospitality - 1 views

  •
At the 2010 International Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Show (IHMRS) held in New York, Orion by VanCard cooped the green initiative for its in-room management system. This technology is very welcome as many hotels struggle with the astronomical cost of energy consumption, especially when they are experiencing low occupancy and rooms have to be maintained for longevity. How this system works is that though its wireless online locks, room temperature is controlled. This can also work for lights as well. Vacant rooms are set at a standard temperature, one a guest is checked in the front desk alerts the system and the room temp is adjusted for the arrival of the guest. Once the guest leaves the room the temperature is once again adjusted, This is a great initiative as, though many guest display social consciousness of energy conservation, they don't always have the habit and discipline to go along with this. So to have their movements tracked and adjust room temperature is great news for hoteliers. The only challenge or question I have regarding this system is if it has the capability to personalize room temperature setting. For example if my temperature preference is outside of the set zone, how can this be addressed. often times in hotels guest may asked about adjusting temp and are told that its a centralized system that cannot be adjusted. They in turn open windows and doors that is counter to this initiative. Nonetheless the cost saving that can be derived for this system is huge in terms of energy conservation and less negative impact of global warming.
  •
This system really helps the hotels to save energy and costs. When I check-in in a hotel, the room temperature is top three things that I concern of a hotel. When I'm in the room, I like to adjust the temperature to a really low degree so that the room is cooled down really quickly. Then when I leave my room, I always forget to adjust it back. Therefore, there are a lot of energy being wasted before I come back to my room again. This system helps to control the room temperature and save energy and cut costs. There's one thing I need to mention is that this system must be maintained carefully and based on daily routine. Otherwise the repairing costs or even the replacing costs would be tremendous. The other good thing about the system also communicates with other in-room systems like the lock system which means they can be integrated and operated in the same online platform.
  •
This is so true. This is defiantly a good system since it is difficult to control the habits of the guess. They are really not thinking about cost impact. I agree that maintenance of the system is critical.

Global Distribution Systems in Present Times - Four Major GDS Systems; Amadeus, Galileo... - 1 views

  • Among the “shelves” on which buyers search for travel services are world’s global distribution systems and the Internet distribution systems
  • The airlines realized that by automating the reservation process for travel agents, they could make the travel agents more productive and essentially turn into an extension of the airline’s sales force. It is these original, legacy GDSs that today provide the backbone to the Internet travel distribution system

October 2002 - The travel marketplace is a global arena where millions of buyers (travel agents and the public) and sellers (hotels, airlines, car rental companies, etc.) work together to exchange travel services. This is a good article talking about four major GDS System companies in the world nowadays. When we do some research in GDS area, it is better for us to know some information about these four companies. They are Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre and Worldspan. The author said that Aadeus is Number 1 inlocations worldwide compared to other three companies, Galileo International is a cautions follower when it comes to technology when compared to other GDS companies. Sabre's competitive strenghs are market position, global reach, stable product line, diversification of revenue streams and intellectual capital. And Worldspan has successfully developed the strategies and solutions to ensure the company's long-tern success. After read this article, I think I have the big picture of what GDS System is. The author gave us the strength of different systems. I know what are these GDS companies doing right now in the world. And what is the best is that the author used some accurate data to support the point. So in my point of view, I don't only understand the knowledge related to GDS System, but also learn the way to write my paper, that is using lots of numbers.
