The Redistricting Game is designed to educate, engage, and empower citizens around the issue of political redistricting. Currently, the political system in most states allows the state legislators themselves to draw the lines. This system is subject to a wide range of abuses and manipulations that encourage incumbents to draw districts which protect their seats rather than risk an open contest. By exploring how the system works, as well as how open it is to abuse, The Redistricting Game allows players to experience the realities of one of the most important (yet least understood) aspects of our political system. The game provides a basic introduction to the redistricting system, allows players to explore the ways in which abuses can undermine the system, and provides info about reform initiatives - including a playable version of the Tanner Reform bill to demonstrate the ways that the system might be made more consistent with tenets of good governance. Beyond playing the game, the web site for The Redistricting Game provides a wealth of information about redistricting in every state as well as providing hands-on opportunities for civic engagement and political action.

O vídeo mistura o clipe Chop Suey da banda armeno-americana System of a Down e um discurso de Dilma e Lula às vésperas das eleições presidenciais de 2010. Não sei se a intenção dos autores: FAROFF e Xandelay @djfaroff @xandelay foi apenas humor ou se eles quiseram fazer uma homenagem, mas o fato é que o vídeo ficou muito bem feito e foram escolhidas frases bem bonitas do discurso. A very good example (I think) of how lms's (learning management systems - don't worry, I had to google it) such as Moodle or BlackBoard can be used with your history classes. Essentially every history teacher can take on the role of textbook writer, thus returning the teacher to the position of expert. And that's got to be a good thing! Well done Mrs Daniels. Digital Past is a digitization initiative undertaken by libraries, historical societies, museums, and other cultural venues throughout Illinois in partnership with the North Suburban Library System (NSLS) in Wheeling, Illinois. In Who Abolished Slavery? Slave Revolts and Abolitionism, the historian of Portuguese abolition, João Pedro Marques, argues against what he describes as two misinterpretations. For Marques, these were: "first, that revolts were always ways of fighting slavery; and secondly, that the decision to end the system of slavery in most Western nations was for the most part the outcome of such revolts."(p. 5) Marques disagrees with both of these views and maintains that it is not possible to establish a correlation between slave uprisings and the acts of emancipation in the West.
