I love these podcasted lectures. I usually get them down through iTunes U or iTunes podcasts (free!) and then put them up on moodle (similar to BlackBoard) for students to download and listen to/watch for their homework/research. Parents get really impressed too when their little angel is listening to a Berkeley Uni lecture on their iPod! [(^).(^)]

A very good example (I think) of how lms's (learning management systems - don't worry, I had to google it) such as Moodle or BlackBoard can be used with your history classes. Essentially every history teacher can take on the role of textbook writer, thus returning the teacher to the position of expert. And that's got to be a good thing! Well done Mrs Daniels. You're a trailblazer.

Good example of using an LMS (Learning Management System [cool jargon to know!]) for a class. My school uses Moodle and BlackBoard is popular at Australian universities. I organise mine by lesson and direct the students to go through the materials before the lesson, usually podcasts, PowerPoints, links to a source site, etc, depending on what materials I'm using for the lesson. After the lesson I put the podcast of it up there for the students to use for revision, along with the notes they've taken during that lesson. Much more effective than a textbook, I reckon!
