As always thanks to everyone who has added sites recently to the group; I'm sure others find them useful. At the moment we are re-writing our 8-10 History and Geography Work Programs (that's what w...

Has links to some example course documents from universities and a high school in America and Australia. I'm always interested in checking out how other people organise their courses; I'm redoing our Modern History Program at the moment. I prefer the chronological rather than thematic approach, although it seems it's going out of fashion these days.

Unit 1 (AP World History) - 17 views

Good example of using an LMS (Learning Management System [cool jargon to know!]) for a class. My school uses Moodle and BlackBoard is popular at Australian universities. I organise mine by lesson and direct the students to go through the materials before the lesson, usually podcasts, PowerPoints, links to a source site, etc, depending on what materials I'm using for the lesson. After the lesson I put the podcast of it up there for the students to use for revision, along with the notes they've taken during that lesson. Much more effective than a textbook, I reckon!

AP Courses - Advanced Placement Course Descriptions - 6 views

You'll find the United States AP World & US History course documents available for download at the bottom right. They have outlines of what is covered in the courses and also example assessment items. I'm going to use them this summer as I redesign our school's work programs. Even if you don't teach in the US they might be helpful.

A Google Site that an innovative teacher in Hawaii uses with her classes. Very interesting.

An excellent example of using online technologies with classes from a teacher in Hawaii.

I need to hear from those of you who have gone to the website and would be willing to write me a short note so that I can include that in the grant proposal that I am writing. I need to have evidence that the site is being used in schools around the world.

    Thank you very much.

Course: Mrs. Daniels' Enriched World History - 2 views

A very good example (I think) of how lms's (learning management systems - don't worry, I had to google it) such as Moodle or BlackBoard can be used with your history classes. Essentially every history teacher can take on the role of textbook writer, thus returning the teacher to the position of expert. And that's got to be a good thing! Well done Mrs Daniels. You're a trailblazer.

If you scroll down or click 'History' you'll see the History lecture podcasts offered by MIT. Personally, I use iTunes to subscribe to university lecture podcasts. My students find them invaluable for their research.

I love these podcasted lectures. I usually get them down through iTunes U or iTunes podcasts (free!) and then put them up on moodle (similar to BlackBoard) for students to download and listen to/watch for their homework/research. Parents get really impressed too when their little angel is listening to a Berkeley Uni lecture on their iPod! [(^).(^)]
