In particular, one the study proved that caregivers reported having lower overall health ratings due to stress. How This Influenced My Thinking: After reading the article I never realized How much stress caregivers go through taking care of someone else. Papalia Sally Wendkos Olds Ruth Duskin Feldman Date Published: 2004 Why relevant and summary: This is just a really great outline from a McGraw Hill Human Development Textbook. It is a free, online student resource. It touches on all aspects of life in middle adulthood, and provided a good reference point when interviewing my friend's 57 year old mother for the survey. How this influenced my thinking: No one likes to think about aging, let alone the fact that we will all eventually grow old. When we are in our 20s and 30s, reaching middle adulthood seems far off, but the truth is, time passes by quickly and aging is inevitable. This outline is a starting point for further research, and is good guidance for seeking information on what life in middle adulthood is like for the general population.

Title: Pros and Cons of Living with Your Elderly Parent Author: Wright, J Date:2009 Summary and why relevant: It give a nice list of what to expect when taking care of your elderly parent, the good and the bad. How this influenced my thinking: I have never really put alot of thought into what i would do when my parents got older and now i can understand better the pros and cons of putting them in a nursing home or caring for them myself. Credibility: Seems credible

Title:Selective optimization with compensation Author: many Date published:1999 Why relevant and summary: This site is a wikipedia psychology site that provides the reader with an explanation of what SOC is. It also gives a great example of a 75 year man who tries to maximize his cognitive resources. Further more, it breaks down the word 'selective optimization with compensation' and tells you what each word implies on its own, and how all the words as a whole make up the meaning of the theory. How this influenced my thinking: This influenced my thinking by providing me with a great example of SOC in a way that really helped my understanding of it. The idea of SOC makes perfect sense and i can see why psychologists use it when they are talking about successful aging. Credibility of source: I feel like the site was pretty credible. There were references but it was a wiki page

Women 50 and over should maintain stroing bones, a healthy heart, and seek preventative exams. How this influenced my thinking:It's important to have a proper inkate of calcium and vitamin D, but also doing weight-bearing exercises for strong bones. Title: Refective Judgement Author: Source : King, P.M. & Kitchener, K.S. (1994). Developing Reflective Judgment. San Francisco: Jossey-Bass Publishers, pp. 14-16. Date published: 1994 Why Relevant and Summary: This site gives a breakdown of the stages in reflective thinking. Along with the breakdown it gave clear examples of how someone in each of the different stages would react which helped me relate the stages to situations. This gave me a better understanding of each of the stages. It was helpful in writing my paper. How This Influenced My Thinking: The examples that are given are short statements that provide excellent examples of what they described in each stage explanation. Credibility of Source: seems reliable-but no proof that it is legitimate

Title: Teen Pregnancy Statistics Author: No Author Date Published: 2013 Why relevant and summary: These statistics are very astonishing. It gives statistics of teenage pregnancies, sexual intercourse, marriage. How it affected my thinking: These statistics blew me away. I honestly though there were not that many teenagers having sex at an early age, I thought many teenagers had their first intercourse when they were at least 17 years old, but according to the statistics there are teenagers whom are having intercourse at the young age of 12 and 3. Credibility: seems credible since its from a teen website.

How this influenced my thinking: Speaker, Eugster's advice flys in the face of socially acceptable behaviors, such as retirement. His life examples are provoking.
