Title: Guided Participation Author: Zeynep Isik-Ercan & Susan Golbeck - The Gale Group Date Published: 2009 Why Relevant & Summary: Not only explains what Guided Participation is, but also it's roots from both Vygotsky & Barbara Rogoff from her book "Apprenticeship in Thinking." How This Influenced My Thinking: It elaborated upon the information from the textbook, explained how social interaction plays a role in cognitive development, and the origins of the guided participation concept. Credibility of Source: Great - lots of references at the bottom of this article.

The article talks about how guided participation helps the child to achieve their goals. How this influenced my thinking: Helps me to realize the method of teaching I can do for my children so they will teach others the same way. Credibility of Source: There is a bibliography at the end to cite their sources that are equivalent to the sources of theory used.

Title: Vygotsky Development & Zone of Proximal Dev & Constructivist Author: Professor Indiana Date published: 20May2010 Why relevant and summary: This video is relevant because it describes Vygotsky's theory of Zone of Proximal Development and gives good examples. This video shows how young children can be taught not only by teachers and adults but by their peers who are slightly more advanced than them.You are able to witness both Scaffolding and guided participation within this segment. How this influenced my thinking: It gave me a better understanding of Vygotsky's theory. Credibility of Source: it was published by a professor.

Title: Mary Ainsworth and Attachment Theory Author: Richard Brodie Date Published: 2012 Why Relevant and Summary: This website has a good video that shows secure attachment with an infant and her mother. It also discusses the other types of attachment; Anxious-Ambivalent Insecure Attachment and Anxious-Avoidant insecure attachment. How this influenced my thinking: This web based article allowed me to get a deeper understanding of the three different types of attachment that Ainsworth studied. Title: Attachment, Relationships, Connecting Author: Dr. Jessica Zucker Date Published: 2011 Why Relevant and Summary: Goes in depth about what creates bonds between child and mother and how those relationships affect circumstances later in life How This Influenced My Thinking: It explained how working models are formed in early childhood and how they affect relationships with others Credibility of Source: very credible- Dr. Zucker specializes in early parent-child bonding

Title: High functioning autism in adults, a personal perspective Author: Steve Date Published: 2011 Why Relevant and Summary: A high-functioning autistic man gives his perspective on living with autism. This is relevant because it touches upon theory of mind (subtly) and connects it with autism. How This Influenced My Thinking: This video was powerful to me because Steve was able to express his perspective on the world even though he says he does not understand other people's perspectives… I really liked the way he described it. Credibility of Source: High (personal account)

Title: Cognitive Functioning in Early Adulthood Author: Bold, M Date published: 1999 Why relevant and summary: There is not alot about Perry's theory on this website but it gives a nice brief description of different theories, including Perry's. How it changed my thinking: Was interesting seeing them all outlined like that. Credibility of source: seems credible.

Title: Kohlberg Author: Saul McLeod Date Published: 2011 Why Relevant and Summary: This article found on simplypsychology.org gives a descriptive over view of each of the 6 moral stages theory by Lawrence Kohlberg. It also discusses the criticism of his theory by Gilligan. Gilligan claimed that women and men were determined using the same standard because original studies were solely based on men. Gilligan says women approach situations from an "ethics of care" rather than from and "ethics of justice" ..changing the stage that women and men most often ended up in. How This Influenced My Thinking: It gave me a better understanding of the way that Kohlberg approached this study and how Gilligan opposed the findings. The article was very clear and presented the information to be easily understood. Credibility of Source:Somewhat -Credible citations were used in the writing of this article.

How this influenced my thinking: Gave an extensive outlook on successful aging and discussed many of the theories that have been presented and the new trends regarding successful aging Credibility: seems credible since the author has a Ph D

Title: Bronfenbrenner's Theory- youtube (video) Author: kleinen2012 Date Published: April 8, 2009 Why Relevant and Summary: This video was produced by a Human Development student, and gives a great summary of Brofenbrenner's model, along with sharing clear and relevant diagrams and definitions. For the audio-visual learner, this is a great resource for gaining basic understanding of Brofenbrenner's Ecological Model. How This Influenced My Thinking: It helped me, as an auditory learner to better absorb the information. Credibility of Source: 8; It lists her references at the end of the video.

Title: Psychology Assignment on Bronfenbrenner for LIT Author: 1976fifi Date Published: 2011 Why Relevant and Summary: Engaging and a bit funny. This is a thorough video that demonstrates and explains Bronfenbrenner's ecological theory while demonstrating plenty of examples. How This Influenced My Thinking: This video presented a bit more information and examples which helped me understand the theory as well as Bronfenbrenner's strong interests in social environment and cultural impact. Credibility of Source: This video seems very credible with a lot of the information aligning with the information we read and was given to us in class.

The analogies and summaries were helpful to understand the ecological systems better. How This Influenced My Thinking: This journal helped me understand everything a little bit better to where I can think more. I was able to actually think about what I wanted to say and how to say it without being blocked from the unknowns. Credibility of Source: This journal pulled information from other resources and cited them. So I believe it is credible.

Title: Bronfenbrenner Ecological Systems Model Author: Nicole Yingst Date Published: 2011 Why Relevant and Summary: This is relevant because it gives a clear and easy to understand definition of what the five environmental systems are and it connects it to how it relates adolescents. It gives an example of each system and it also talks about a personal experience of how a teacher relates the ecological system to her classroom How This Influenced My Thinking: It influenced my thinks by giving me a better understanding of the concept and it gives good examples Credibility of Source: Not too sure about the credibility because it doesn't say where its comes from

The author gives many examples for each side and how nature and nurture work together. How This Influenced My Thinking: It really opened my mind to seeing both sides of the debate. Credibility of Source: This article was posted to a psychology website and contained a great number of references, I see this as a very credible source.

Title: Nature Vs. Nurture: Are we Really Born That Way? Author: Kimberly Powell Date published: N.D. Why Relevant and Summary: In this article she clearly explains the topic of nature vs. nurture and goes into how it is still undetermined if our genes play a role in our personality. How it influenced my thinking: It made me wonder if my personality trait that are similar to my parents came from them genetically or if it is similar because that is what i grew up around. Credibility of source: This article seems somewhat credible, though i didn't see any references.
