There's even stuff for those that teach ELL students! What a great resource for those who like to use ITunes.

Comment on: Fluffy thinking in the edtech community…a waste of energy and time - 0 views

  • I’m not saying there isn’t a place and a time for strategic thinking, what I’m saying is that the edublogosphere is loaded to the freakin’ gills with it. How many ways can you discuss the innate digital skills of middle school students before realizing it’s worth more to talk about what works and doesn’t work with them. In this case the why is truly “academic”. We’ve twittered, blogged, bookmarked, tagged, forwarded, and flogged this horse to an amazing degree. What I don’t see is the same amount of energy in capturing what’s been done with the students, the successes and failures, in anything longer than 140 characters. If we want our teachers to learn to fish, we have to show them how to bait the hook and cast the line…not wonder if the fish are truly hungry.
  • voicethread.com used in first grade classroom so students are participating in asynchronous conversation and everyone gets to share on topic chosen by teacher. Combined with short recordings from audio enhancement classroom system help the teacher quickly post new content from class to the site.

This is the type of practical example I'm talking about. 30,000 ft. talk is great...only if you're able to land the plane too.

Computers in the Classroom: LiveBinders: Resourceful Web 2.0 Tool - 16 views

College prof Judy Arzt from Connecticut writes about the usefulness of live binders. I like her simple 2 paragraph explanation of what it is. I find her simple language easy to understand and think that we need more edtech college profs to create blogs like this to share with their students. Nice blog. She is @JudyArtz on Twitter.

Mrs. McConnell's Blog: Top 12 Reflections on 2012 - conclusion - 12 views

IN her final set of reflections, Sandy uses a new feature, that of Google plus tagging in a blogger blog, which is how I found what she wrote! IF you use blogger, use the plus and tag people and we'll find you more easily than the traffic type things. Finally an advantage for being on blogger besides just tight integration with Google. I love how her work with edtech and ipads is part of what she's done. With all she's been through: layoffs, cancer, adding onto her house - I think I've found a new hero and definitely someone I"ve added to my PLN. I've known of her work, but now I"m a fan. Sometimes, when you open up, share and reflect, you connect on a deeper, more personal level than if you pretend like life is perfect. TEachers, lets stick together and encourage each other.

I'm sure I'm doing it wrong | Ideas and Thoughts from an EdTech - 8 views

  • According to many definitions of good teaching, I don’t qualify: I don’t clearly state objectives If I do state them, they are as fuzzy as all get out I have a hard time measuring student progress My course syllabus changes almost daily I never use tests I constantly stray off topic
  • I do constantly question whether or not I need to be more structured.  Do I need to be able to define my outcomes more succinctly than this? Students will learn that: Learning is social and connected Learning is personal and self-directed Learning is shared and transparent Learning is rich in content and diversity
  • I do provide rubrics, build criteria together, emphasis and utilize descriptive feedback.  Providing supports and the odd insight best describes my role.  I’m of total confidence they are learning. Just read their blogs.

  •   I’ve read, listen and thought  more about assessment than most and yet it still baffles me. Mostly because the kind of assessment that makes most sense (immediate and descriptive feedback) isn’t really valued in schools.

Some learning and educational technology leaders who just happen to be female... - 0 views

Wes has a post about the misconception that there are "no" credentialed female presenters for conferences and lists a long list of women edtech presenters -- great for anyone planning a conference.
