Youtube is a site that gives the user the opportunities to post videos about almost anything online. It is a video sharing website where users can upload and share videos. I chose this as a resource because it has a large resource of information that can be used for teaching purposes. Youtube makes posting and searching for videos simply because it is very easy to use.

What it is: YouTube provides millions of free videos on every topic imaginable. However, in addition to finding videos, YouTubes new video editor allows users to create their own videos as well. Why it's better: YouTube provides a user-friendly interface that most are familiar with. Videos, images, sounds, text, and photos can all be combined to create instant videos that provide prior knowledge to students. All videos under 15 minutes are free. Since YouTube is a part of Google, all items are synced with your Google account. While there are many other free video creation tools available, YouTube truly does provide an easier experience.

YouTube offers users the opportunity to compile their work in the form of a video. One feature of YouTube is the capability of adding closed caption. Videos can be used for essential and generative learning because it provides a platform for learners to authentically demonstrate their understanding of the content.

Brief Description: Teacher Tube is an educational website where educators can upload instructional material to the cyber-world. People can gain ideas, upload their videos for others, or receive teaching resources. Brief Explanation: Teacher Tube is a great website because it allows you to share information effectively and can be useful for others to review and receive your personal ideas and research.

* Brief description of Web site: A free tool that provides an online community for sharing instructional videos. Additionally, it is a site where teachers can post videos designed for students to view in order to learn a concept or skill. * Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found: This site is better than YouTube because it is strictly for educational purposes. Besides the fact that it is a free resources, users are able to view videos or upload videos to it.

TeacherTube is a video sharing website with the same features as YouTube, but for educators. Unfortunately, in many school districts by content filtering systems, YouTube has been blocked due to some of the content that can be accessed on the site. TeacherTube allows educators and students the ability to access various educational videos, documents, blogs, groups, photos, and audio to utilize and share in the classroom while at school. Many of these educational resources can be used as pre-training materials to a workshop, such as with my workshop on storytelling; I would show a short video about what PBL means as a means to introduce participants to the concept and to explain that they will be using PBL to design their own storytelling lesson. TeacherTube is much easier to access while at school than YouTube, which is why I feel TeacherTube is a better working tool for educators to use rather than attempting to access YouTube videos.

The three web sites that I selected that include multimedia artifacts for active learning: 1) http://www.learner.org/ The learner.org website is a cognitive activity. This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site focuses on using multimedia technology as an aid to human cognition (Mayer, p. 13 2009). It uses film clips to demonstrate the practical applications of various mathematical concepts to real life situations. It builds a connection of what the students are studying to a concrete example (visual) to create a clearer mental picture form prior knowledge to new knowledge that is being discovered. 2) http://pearsonmylabandmastering.com/ The My Lab web site is a behavioral activity. This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site focuses on rewarding students for the correct responses (excellent) or punished for the incorrect ones (try again). The underlying metaphor is that of drill-and-practice system, so multimedia is a vehicle for rewarding correct responses and punishing incorrect ones (Mayer, p.15, 2009). A student receives immediate feedback positive or negative and strengthens a response system to proceed or provide reinforcement of the content. 3) http://webgraphing.com/ The web graphing web site is a cognitive activity. This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site provides engagement between the student and the graphing calculator. Multimedia learning is a sense-making activity in which the learner seeks to build a coherent mental representation from the presented material (Mayer, p. 17, 2009). A website where you can create your own animated videos. This is the main presentation and focus of my workshop. It has tutorials and step by step instructions on how to create an animated video of your choice.

GoAnimate! allows teachers to quickly create animated lessons. The site offers a variety of options for setting, images, and avatars. Users can use the text-to-speech feature or record their own voices to narrate the videos. These videos can be used to quickly create engaging videos to present content to learners. GoAnimate! can be used to help learners manage essential processing by using the principles of multimedia to create an effective presentation. It is better than other sites because it is so user friendly, and animations can be created quickly.

This website lets you create an animated video for use in your classroom. View the video on their introduction page to learn about the features and options. A teacher could also let students have the option of animating a presentation for the class to help engage student creativity.

Assignment, Module 3 - Animoto.com is a fast, free, easy-to-use, video production site.  Users can turn their digital photos, video clips, and music into well-orchestrated movie presentations.  It is trendy, fast-paced, and geared toward the young, digital natives that thrive on personally-produced content.  Animoto encourages creative applications of learning.

Animoto is designed to allow its users to upload captions and images in order to create vivid videos set to music. Animoto videos are what I like to consider, "smart videos." They analyze the video, feel the music, and then customize the video, allowing users to share and publish their unique video to any webpage. Animoto videos are a creative and fun way to introduce a topic of study, introduce vocabulary, or to teach a short lesson with. Animoto is free to use after making an account, but unless a membership is purchased with Animoto, the videos that you make will be no longer than 30 seconds in length. I have used it with my presentations, after purchasing a membership, and participants of the presentation were engaged and excited about what they saw and learned. It makes learning more interesting. Animoto is better than most other video production sites as it offers its users a variety of professionally looking templates to add your photos, text, and audio to, whereas other sites are limited on their templates to basic features.

This particular multimedia example is a video about the greenhouse effect, and its title is an engaging aspect that attracts learner by referencing a commonly known children's story. Mayer described the technology centered approach as being based in how and what technologies can be incorporated into the learning process (Mayer, 2009, pp. 10-11). It is definitely technology centered first and foremost. Throughout the video, it uses a great deal of overlaying video with static images or content so that the eye is engaged and drawn into the movement happening on screen. In this case, it meets with Mayer's assumption of dual coding in its design, in that it operates both on an auditory and visual channel (p. 64). In this case, in order for the learner to construct knowledge the auditory channel is the most important because the video images themselves really just augment the commentary, rather than presenting identical content visually. The images are stunning; there are amazing 3-D representations of earth, and video of the first atomic explosion. While these images are captivating, they don't serve as a second representation of the content itself. The learning that takes would not be considered active learning by Mayer's criteria, because there it is not structured in such a way that the learner does not have any repetitive elements to select and focus on in order to sequence the content in order to build knowledge (p. 71). Also, there is not an opportunity for the learner to integrate the visual and audio components to build knowledge, because the content is primarily in the audio while the video images are more oriented toward holding the learner's attention instead of presenting content or concept related information (p. 71).

Brief Description: Slide Share is a website where an individual can upload and share their presentations, personal/professional videos, and documents (word and pdf). Information uploaded can be shared with everyone on the website or restrictions (limited viewers) can be placed on your information. Brief Explanation: Slide Share is a good presentation website because your information can be categorized, receive feedback, and is easy to use. Also a key plus for this website is that it is free.

Slideshare - Slideshare is a website that allows users to upload various types of presentations: documents, presentations, and professional videos. I like this site because it attempts to keep non-professional data off , unlike sites such as You Tube that is for general use. Setting up an account is easy and the basic membership is free, which is always nice.

SlideShare is a tool that allows users to upload presentations or videos they have created to be shared with others. This site also allows users to search for presentations and videos on topics of interest. Having used this tool before, I have found it easy to use and can see how it might be used to share any presentations or videos created for the workshop with staff who were unable to attend or with a much broader audience. 

This video provides an introduction to student response systems for teachers who are unfamiliar with clickers and how they can assist a teacher in the classroom. The video explains various aspects of clickers and provides demonstrations on the different aspects that teachers can use in conjunction with the clickers. Many teachers are not familiar with technology; therefore, they need extra support and help when incorporating new technology into the classroom. The video explains various aspects of using student response devises. The video is more technology centered than learner centered. The emphasis is placed on using technology to modify or enhance a lesson. Mayer, (2009) explains the technology centered approaches are not always the most effective. The learner needs to be the focus of the lesson not the technology. This instructional video focuses on the technology and not the learner. The video explains various aspects but many viewers might feel overwhelmed when listening because they do not understand the terminology.

This is an excellent website that provides the learner with tutorial videos that are arranged by topic. Each aspect of the clicker is included. E-Instruction created the web tutorials; therefore, the videos come from a reliable source. The tutorial videos are great to demonstrate what needs to be done to effectively add clickers to classroom. Tutorial videos fit with Mayer's generative learning. The videos help those who are not as familiar and still having some trouble; they help the learner make sense of the material. The videos promote an engaged environment; the learner can follow along and actually use the clickers as they progresses through the tutorial. The generative lesson helps the learner put the information together.

In line with the best practices of a multimedia presentation, YouTube has thousands of how to videos that can be embedded into power points. In fact there are several videos on how to embed into powerpoint. I have used these videos numerous times in my general ed classes and in my tech classes for both adults and children. With the tech classes the students watch the video through once, then reproduce the activity while watching it through again. It is rare that I have to reteach when they do this.

Kal, I utilize United Streaming video segments in my classroom on a regular basis. Many teachers do not realize how easy it is to download them. I also use video for facilitating Professional Development. Video for students is much l like watching television - you have their "full" attention - they are totally engaged!

authorSTREAM is an online tool that will convert timed or narrated PowerPoint presentations to video and retain most settings applied to the original slide show. Also, the videos can be downloaded or posted to various locations online and linked to via blogs, wikis, and other Web sites. Learners can benefit from the variety of features offered such as retaining transitions and special effects to capture attention and the use of video and narration adheres to dual coding principles. By combining those features, complex material can be presented in a manner that assists learners generative cognitive load. I found this tool to be better than others given its simplicity and the fact that it retains transitions and animations. The overall quality of the output is quite good also and the use of the tool is fairly straight forward.

Authorstream is the hosting site for uploading and storage of PowerPoint (PPT) presentations. Participants can then download these presentations as video for editing into one seamless presentation of a mixture of PPT and video for uploading to YouTube or other video hosting site. This is initially a free site for users, but you will find it soon necessary to pay the annual Authorstream Pro fee of 30 dollars or $2.50 a month that is, if you want to convert PPT presentations to video formatting. Authorstream offers other significant options in the Pro package that helps you do plenty more with your PPT creations. This is the best suited site for supporting Microsoft PPT for it is user friendly and quite common.

Like Google Presenter, Authorstream allows users to upload and share presentations. This can be used by instructors to assess student integration and generative learning. Authorstream allows users a public space for broad distribution and visibility of their shared presentation. This is important for students as they prepare to leave academia and enter the professional world. In addition, students can easily embed and share their presentations in blogs and other social media. Finally, Authorstream more easily integrates audio and animation when compared to other online presenting formats.

The video explains the importance in performance based assessment. Performance bases assessment is the most appropriate for the multimedia workshop on clickers. Participants in the workshop need to demonstrate that they know how to effectively use the clicker sin the classroom. The video reinforces the need to make students demonstrate their understanding of the content by actually "doing". The instructor must communicate with the participants the expectations of the assessment and the grading procedure. Performance based assessment also lets the participant see if the mastered using clickers. Essential material takes advantage of pre-teaching the content and helping each individual is at least on the basic level. The video explains the importance of authentic assessment in the classroom. Teachers may not be familiar with authentic assessment; therefore, they cannot successfully create an authentic assessment for a workshop or a classroom. The video meets essential learning because the viewer becomes efficient on understanding authentic assessment. The video serves as a pre-teaching and tutorial devise.
