Visual learning and outlining in the classroom | inspiration.com - 0 views

Inspiration is a powerful website. This provides the learner the ability to make meaniful connections. Mayers states that a two lanes are better one and learning in two channels creates a deeper understanding in pictoral form and verbal(Mayers,2009). This a learner-centered tool with the ability toward online learnering. It will advance the learner coginitive ability.

How to Use Clickers Effectively - 0 views

  •
This multimedia artifact is a video that demonstrates how to effectively use clickers in the classroom. The video takes educators through a series of steps on using the clickers to promote a higher level of engagement with students. The steps include: how to create a good question, how to foster peer discussions, wrapping up the lesson, and moving forward. I believe this video is a more learner-centered approach to multi-media design as the focus is helping educators reach a deeper level of understanding on how to create a lesson for students that just happens to use clickers as a tool for delivery. A learner-centered approach should expand our cognitive capabilities and the technology is the tool. Mayer (2009)

Skype allows presentations from anywhere without the physical presence of the presenter. It fosters a deeper level of learning through the experience of another. I have not used another site such as Skype; however, the ease and flexibility of the site attracts users of all ages and experiences.

Storytelling | Xtranormal - 2 views

  •
    I love this website.

Xtranormal is a website that allows individuals to make a movie just by texting. Xtranormal will be a used to present the objectives of the presentation. The animation will allow the learners to view a visual with audio/text (present two types of learning).
  •
Assignment, Module 3 - Xtranormal.com is a web-based presentation tool that allows the user to create a movie from text.  The site claims that, "if you can type, you can make movies."  Users are provided with 3D characters that are brought to life through adding content to their voices.  It uses a drag-and-drop animation system of editing.  Another advantage is you can follow this site from FaceBook or on Twitter.  One disadvantage is the recommended configuration is limited to Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista.
  •
Xtranormal was one of the featured websites in the programs for Module 3. It is a very easy to use website to create videos. I used it to create the directions for the pre-training activity. In order to create a video you simply type in your script, select your character, background, camera angles, and character movements. This text to speech website is an example of generative learning because it simplifies the expectations for the participants.
  •
For the presentation section of the workshop, the instructor could use text and create an animation using avitars to make the lesson interesting to the learners.
  •
Brief description of what it allows you to do and how it can be used for essential or generative learning: Allows you to create an animation presentation by inputting a script with directional movements. This can be used as an introduction tool of a segment presentation. It provides a visual animation with sound and text possibilities. Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found (e.g., more effective, creates better products, easier to use, and so on): It can be limiting using the free version, but awesome for foreign languages. My students loved it and could make their presentations unique and creative.
  •
Xtranormal is a movie-making tool that allows the user to create movies with little experience. It permits prerecorded features as well as user inventive frames. Using this tool in my presentations will move my students to a deeper understanding beyond PowerPoint presentations.
  •
Just as with Go Animate, Xtranormal is applicable to the essential and generative learning processes. Xtranormal allows a user to organize and integrate what he/she has learned into a short animated cartoon. Xtranormal allows users to create fully animated video cartoons to represent learned materials. Videos on Xtranormal are easily created, stored, and shared.
  •
This site allows you to create short animated videos about any content. These videos allow information to be relayed in a different way. This multimedia tool is user friendly and can be used with any topic.
  •
This website allows you to choose an avatar and design a 3D animated presentation of the text provided. This will be a great added feature to add visuals to what I have to share for my presentation. In my classroom, this multimedia tool would inspire student creativity, meet student learning needs who may be uncomfortable speaking in front of others.

You can use this site to make animated movies of your presentation.

The Value of Multimedia in Llearning - 1 views

  •
My multimedia project title is is How to Utilize Multimedia to Create Effective Instructions. The Value of Multimedia in Learning written by Shank (2005) outlined the benefits of multimedia in learning. A well-designed multimedia presentation helps learners build more accurate and effective mental models than they do from text alone. Shephard synthesized studies showing potential benefits of well-designed multimedia, including: (Shephard, (n.d) as cited in Shank 2005, p.4). A well constructed multimedia presentation can definitively be identified as learner-centered approach to learning. Mayer (2008) also describes potential benefits of multimedia. Given that humans possess visual and auditory information processing capabilities, multimedia, he explains, takes advantage of both capabilities at once. In addition, these two channels process information quite differently, so the combination of multiple media is useful in calling on the capabilities of both systems. Meaningful connections between text and graphics potentially allow for deeper understanding and better mental models than from either alone. Shank, P. (2005). The value of multimedia in learning. Google Docs: Presentation - 0 views

Google docs is a great way to merge existing documents, with the ability to create and organize documents online. It is better than a lot of other options because it is free, and transfers across computer platforms.

We are all familiar with Google Docs. It can be used to place documents, spreadsheets, presentations, drawings, and forms to share during presentations. I like this because it is so easy and free! Documents can also be edited by students.
  •
After creating a slide show it can be shared publicly with people. People who are viewing the presentation can also chat about it on the side. Google Docs is an easier program to share documents with, due to Google's popularity more people have are familiar with the features, and it allows for simple sharing and collaboration of ideas. The chat feature during the presentation will allow for participants to be responding to their new learning with others in the room. Google Docs and the chat feature while sharing a slide show is an example of generative learning because it is allowing for deeper understanding through collaboration.
  •
Google docs is a web based productivity platform that allows the creation of documents, spreadsheets, diagrams and forms. Multiple users can access files simultaneously, allow for collaboration.
  •
Google has a ton of free resources that have the same functionality as Powerpoint or Keynote. One of the great components of Google Docs is the ability to collaborate with others through real time chat or make comments/revisions to a document. For a presentation, Google Docs has a presentation tool that is easy to use, free, and accessible from any location with an internet connection. Although the presentations are not flashy, they help teachers incorporate multimedia into their instruction and make the technology accessible for all of their students.

Basic overview of the JAWS screen reader - 0 views

  •
This video includes closed captioning with audio and video, allowing the learner to experience how a screen reader works and sounds, again following Mayer's dual channel theory, fostering meaningful learning through lecture and example. Understanding how a screen reader works and sounds provides instructors with a deeper understanding of the challenges those with sight impairments must overcome in learning online content. This allows instructors to create content, providing more effective knowledge transfer through this technology.
