A student (or more than one) could be assigned to be the notetaker for the day. Each day the notetaker changes. The rest of the students can view the notes as a homework assignment. This would mean students could be active participants in the classroom without the worry of taking notes

Great example of how a tool like a smartphone with video can be used to create really clear instructional segments to support of flip instruction. It doesn't have to be fancy... only clear and developmentally appropriate.
If a student can score equally well on a test reviewing the instructors notes attending the lecture or not, what does that say about the instructors ability to present information they deem important or testable in their notes? I would not disagree that students often struggle with notetaking, but the study also also raises questions about the way we teach.
