Portland Opera exists to inspire, challenge and uplift our audiences by creating productions of high artistic quality that celebrate the beauty and breadth of opera. I saw POGO in eugene at a elementary school I work with. They were amazing and had the kids create there own opera and then preformed it for them.

SCRAP is a donation-based creative reuse store and donation center in Northeast Portland. Along with the ever-changing and diverse store items, SCRAP also provides a range of educational opportunities within the community and hosts local reuse-based artists in our Re:Boutique. The Riverside Art Make will feature activities such as kite making, a writing workshop, a sculpture of car parts that makes music and a photo still life project in the city's Eastside, Magnolia Center, La Sierra and Orangecrest neighborhoods from April 1 to May 17.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced today that the NEA plans to award $74.85 million in 971 grants to nonprofit organizations nationwide as part of the second half of its fiscal year 2014 funding (including $2.7 million to U.S. theater and musical theater nonprofits). In addition to direct grants through the Art Works category, this round of funding also supports the state arts agencies and regional arts organizations - the NEA's partners in bringing the arts to all parts of the nation - as well as grants for research projects that build evidence on the value and impact of the arts.

The vibrancy of the Mission District is due in large part the artists, art galleries, and arts-based non-profits that call it home. But the once-predominantly Latino community is in the midst of several large changes that will completely alter the vibe of the Mission.

Through vision, leadership, and service, the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) works to integrate arts and culture in all aspects of community life. RACC serves the Portland, Oregon Metropolitan Region, including Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington counties.RACC provides grants for artists, nonprofit organizations and schools; manages an internationally acclaimed public art program; raises money and awareness for the arts through workplace giving; convenes forums, networking events and other community gatherings; provides workshops and other forms of technical assistance for artists; and oversees a program to integrate arts and culture into the standard curriculum in public schools throughout the region through "The Right Brain Initiative.

OCCA, the Regional Arts Council for the Oregon coast, invites mid-career visual artists from Curry, Coos, Lincoln, Tillamook, Clatsop and the coastal school districts of Douglas and Lane counties to submit proposals for a two month show in the Coastal Oregon Visual Artists Showcase at the Newport Visual Arts Center. OCCA will help each artist create a video about them and their art that will be shown on a touch screen computer next to the Showcase and become part of the Coastal Artists Video Archive.

On The Rocks was founded in 1999 by Leo DaSilva and Peter Hollens when they attended the University of Oregon. The group established itself through five albums with an EP, a viral video of Lady Gaga's Bad Romance, and appearances on NBC's show "The Sing Off". And now they are a new group of twelve living up to their past of fame and notoriety. You may ask us, "Why don't you sing Lady Gaga?" or "Where are the guys from the 'Sing Off'?" Sadly those days are gone. Those who graduated left us a great legacy and we look up to their talent every time we sing. But talent never graduates. Talent built this group from a time before the boom of TV shows and viral videos, because having the time of our lives has always been the goal and will continue to be forever. So know this: Every time we perform, we step on stage with the vigor of every man who has ever sang in our name. On. The. Rocks.

I really enjoy these guys because of the community that they create while singing and the way they can harmonize themselves all together.

The men in OTR are so talented and show perseverance with all of their endeavors. Especially knowing one of the members and how he balances about 7 different social scenes with the U of O, I am truly amazed with what they can do. They don't just use their voices but also their personalities which to me is one of the best parts when it comes to entertaining.

Shibori is a Japanese term for methods of dyeing cloth by binding, stitching, folding, twisting, and compressing. In Japan, the earliest known example of cloth dyed with the shibori technique dates back to the 8th century where indigo was the main dye used.

This is my absolute favorite place to spend time during the summer months! The Cuthbert has never disappointed me in terms of quality live music. The concerts are always reasonably priced and are decently regulated for the most part so families can attend. The atmosphere is unlike any other venue in Oregon and I highly recommend making a concert part of your summer agenda if you are living in Eugene this summer. Just an interesting article on the relevance of of musical training in the real world! From the conclusion: "In years past, it was typical for college graduates to take a job in a good company, and stay there for their entire working careers. However, the rapid development of technology and the resulting changes in the skill sets needed for success has made that scenario less and less likely. In a world where an ever increasing percentage of the population experiences several career changes in a lifetime, no college education can supply enough specific knowledge to cover all the possibilities. Thus, an earned bachelor's degree-music or otherwise-is only a first step in the world. Those with a high-level, "musically flavored" college degree, not only have what it takes to make a good first step, they also have the creativity and drive to ensure that each succeeding step brings them closer to the happiness and fulfillment we all seek in life."

"The mission of the Museum of Photographic Arts is to inspire, educate and engage the broadest possible audience through the presentation, collection and preservation of photography, film and video." One of the many museums within the SD Balboa Park area, this venue used photography to capture some of the most powerful pictures.

What gorgeous imagery! It was hard to believe that these images aren't digital, but from film. The colors and textures are stunning. As a mixed-media photographic artist, I found Fayman's work particularly fascinating. Thank you for posting.
