Weebly for iPad - Create and Manage Websites | iPad Apps for School - 1 views

  •
"Weebly, a popular website creation service, has offered an iPhone app for a couple of years. This morning I learned that they now offer a free iPad app too. Weebly's free iPad app allows you to create a new website from scratch. After creating your website with the app you will be able to manage nearly all aspects of your site from your iPad. The drag-and-drop website building process that made Weebly popular as a browser-based tool is found in the new iPad app. Select a site component from the menu of options and drag it into the editor to build your site one component at a time. Watch the video embedded below for a short overview of Weebly's free iPad app. "

Add checkboxes to an Excel spreadsheet - 0 views

  •
If you're setting up a worksheet only for yourself, you can simply leave an empty cell for this purpose. To check it, just type in an x or any other character. Then use a formula with the =isblank() function to make the contents of that cell affect the rest of the spreadsheet. But you might want something more mouse-friendly--especially if you're designing a spreadsheet for other people. I've tested the technique below on Excel 2007, 2010, and 2013. I'm not sure about earlier versions. You can insert checkboxes on Excel's Developer tab. Unfortunately, that tab is hidden by default. To make it visible in Excel 2010 or 2013, click the File tab and select Options. ClickCustomize Ribbon. You'll see two lists. Make sure that the one on the right is titled Main Tabs. Check Developer.

A Principal's Reflections: Stop Ignoring Google+ - 2 views

  •
"In case you didn't know there are thousands of educators and an array of learning communities over at Google+.  The bottom line is that many people are missing out on some great content, resources, and conversation.  From my point of view educators become quickly attached to one specific social media tool as their go to source for his/her Personal Learning Network (PLN).  Take Twitter for example.  Now anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely love Twitter as a professional learning and networking tool. It has been and will continue to be my number one choice when it comes to learning in the foreseeable future. Twitter has many positive attributes, but also a growing number of negative aspects.  Some examples in my opinion, include an increasing amount of negativity and disrespect, rise in social media cliques, difficulty in following chats, noise, and overbearing opinions.  Even as Twitter still works great for me and others it is not the only player out there.  Nor should it be considered the best learning option for all. At times I just need to get away from the echo chamber to focus more on my learning."

Goldieblox and the Movie Machine App | Engage Their Minds - Great Minds DON'T Think Alike! - 0 views

  •
"Our Maker Club has transitioned from making cardboard games to making movies, and one of the apps the students explored last week was Goldieblox and the Movie Machine.  They quickly figured out what they needed to do to create their own short animations, and they were too busy having fun to ask for help from me.  The club is still testing out different options for movie creation, so we haven't worked our way up to making final products, but I think this app will definitely be a contender for most popular movie-making tool (along with the Lego Movie Maker app)."

4 Best Apps for Sharing Large Files Instantly - 0 views

  •
"We've all been there. You've spent hours curating a document, editing a video, or photoshopping an image, only to be told the file is too large to send as an attachment via email. Of course, if you want to share the file locally, you can easily load it onto a flash drive - but what about if you need to send it to a friend or colleague on the other side of the world? It used to be a nightmare scenario, and although web-based file transfer services started to become popular in the tail-end of the last decade, they were still slow, cumbersome, and frequently failed. Thankfully, the advent of smartphones has helped streamline the process, and there are now a plethora of apps that let you share large files directly from your Android device. Here we look at the best options for you."

Of all the topics that can be discussed around Education, homework is possibly the one most likely to cause heated debate.
