Emphasis can be used in many ways other then writing. The concept is the same just a different median. I chose to use this webpage as a bookmark because it shows emphasis in body language. These are techniques used by the body to exaggerate or use movements to create a focal point.

I really liked how this website kept it simple yet helpful by adding the examples to the right of the definition. I got to see exactly what they were talking about. Which to me, as a visual learner, I understood more.

Photos to Canvas Prints - Your Pictures on Canvas Art - 0 views

  •
I think this is an example of emphasis because it's super easy to read, very organized and each step is the same font size, color and evenly next to each other. The title "easy canvas prints" - "easy" is emphasized, as it should be, to a different background color and scripted font.

This seems like an example of emphasis because of the big writing and promoting, it's bright and easy to read. Everything is also centered and has a bunch of "alluring" images.

D#2, HW 2 - 0 views

  • The goal of visual design is to communicate.
  • We are visual beings and can quickly pick up on visual cues to better understand our environment.
  • Headings are hierarchy and make some words more important than the rest of your type. Tags for blockquotes and lists, strong, and em, also add a visual hierarchy to your typography.

  • Think of the basic design principles contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity.
  • Contrast
  • Repetition
  • Alignment
  • Proximity
  • You create a hierarchy in design, by adjusting the visual weights of your element.
  • The mechanisms for controlling visual weight are the same in both cases. Size – As you would expect larger elements carry more weight Color – It’s not fully understood why, but some colors are perceived as weighing more than others. Red seems to be heaviest while yellow seems to be lightest. Density – Packing more elements into a given space, gives more weight to that space Value – A darker object will have more weight than a ligher object Whitespace – Positive space weighs more than negative space or whitespace
  • Your hierarchy should begin with thoughtful consideration of the content and goals of the page. Only after you’ve decided intellectually the hierarchy of your page should you attempt to visually design that hierarchy.
  • Visual Hierarchy is a deliberate prioritization of

Good and Bad ads that caught my eye print | adland.tv - 0 views

  •
These ads are good examples of the emphasis and visual hierarchy we were talking about. In most of the ads there is a prominent text, which your eye is drawn to first, followed by smaller text, or images, that you look to next. This helps get your attention first, and then you read the rest of the ad, just like they hoped you would.

D#2 HW #8 This website focuses on how to write for the internet. It has an entire section on how to write instructions for websites. This will benefit me and others in Project 1 because the examples are all geared towards intruction on websites therefore they will be easy to apply directly.

    How To Write Instructions
  •
D#2, HW#8 I think this website about how to write instructions because of the examples it give of different kinds of instructions you may come across. Also, it tells you what not to say... not just what you should say so that you can see both sides of the situation. This will help with Project #1 because it shows you what you shouldnt put so that your reader doesnt get confused!

This Site is a great example of how to design a flyer that will catch the person's eye and stand above the rest. It talks about using different fonts, avoid clutter, colorful paper, and much more. Out of the three sites that I found, this was my favorite because it gives great tips and from this site you could make a excellent flyer.
