(D7, H1) Link 3:Good Documentation Practices - 0 views

  •
This is a link to a short slideshow by John Berga covering some of the basic and best practice suggestions for creating good documentation. The slideshow is aimed at a corporate audience and therefore especially relevant to technical communicators working in such environments. Although there is little in-depth material in this link, it appears to offer sound advice that relates to general documentation procedure.

This was really interesting to read through as it has so many ideas to change and modify our blogs. There are 20 ideas in all through the article some of which are similar to programs we have used so far in the class. My favorite idea was featured posts carousel like you see on many web site with their news feeds.

This site has several good tutorials. I think the Featured Posts tutorial and the tutorial that shows you how to put text over your lead graphic seem like they'd be interesting blog additions. The draw back on these changes is that you have to be familiar with web encoding though.

D# 7 HW 6 Copyright and Plagiarism - 0 views

Great slideshow on how plagiarism will only hurt you in the long run. Take your education upon yourself. If you are expected to be able to refer back to something in the future that you cheated on it will be obvious. If caught in school it will go down on your record, end your school career, and could even cause a degree you have to be revoked. Get in the habit of quoting and citing sources.

Gamestop is one of my favorite examples of emphasis the amount on this website is ridiculous. Whether it be on their slideshow that contains photos with type in all different sorts of fonts and colors. Or just the clean white layout that seems to make the titles of the games just pop off the page.
