MOBILE, Alabama - Drury Lane in Country Club Estates has the look and feel of a country lane: secluded, narrow - less than two lanes wide - and heavily-wooded, with well-kept homes appearing as if by magic among the trees. Yet some of its 17 homes, including corner lots at Wimbledon Drive to the south and Hillwood Road to the north, are within a short iron shot of the Country Club of Mobile north nine golf course and about two blocks from the main club buildings themselves. Residents of Drury Lane, from near and far, had high praise for the Spring Hill area and their neighbors. "We love it here. Absolutely love it. Drury Lane is a wonderful street. The best street in Mobile, I believe," said resident Lee Robinson, a Mobile native, who grew up 300 yards away on Wimbledon Drive, where his parents, Lee and Helen Robinson, still live. The Robinsons' home is one of the through lots on the street, with a front entrance on Hillwood Road and a back entrance on Drury Lane. The family prefers the backyard for activities and neighboring, said Robinson. "The neighbors have been fabulous and a huge blessing," said his wife, Aimee, also a Mobile native. "The minute you have a storm, everyone here comes together." The Robinsons and their three daughters had just moved in shortly before Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, but were invited to stay the night with neighbors, who had 14 people in their home, to share their generator power, she said. Robinson discovered both Mobile and family tradition in the vintage 1937 home on the lane when he thoroughly renovated it in 2007-08. The home had original hardwood floors, a double coincidence, because Robinson is president of Overseas Hardwoods Co., and his grandfather was in the hardwood flooring business with the family-owned Mobile River Sawmill in Mount Vernon, Robinson said. Springhill Care Group : Can you choose your own term mortgage? 10April 2012 - SpringhillCare - SlideShare - People are relying on mortgage in order to buy their own house. Investing in a house is considered to be the biggest financial commitment one can ever make. Therefore, it will be beneficial for the consumer if you could choose your own mortgage term. Before you apply for a mortgage loan make sure that you take help of a loan mortgage calculator to calculate your monthly payment. This will help you determine the mortgage loan that you can afford to take out. When a borrower chooses his own term mortgage then it will be easier for him to pay off the owed amount without a single default Quicken loan offers "YOURmortgage" where the consumers will determine the length of the mortgage where you can choose the term between 8 to 30 years. Therefore, if you are not keen to apply for a standard 30 or 15-year term then refinancing your mortgage into an 18-year fixed or a 24-year fixed loan can be beneficial for you. If your loan term is short then interest rate will be comparatively lower, thereby you can save considerable amount of money.  If you take out 15 years fixed term mortgage then the interest rate will be lower than 30 years fixed term mortgage. So you can save considerable amount of money with a shorter term as less interest will be paid over a shorter amount of time. In shorter term mortgage you pay less as the loan amortizes faster. But remember that the monthly mortgage will be higher if your loan term is shorter. So this is considered to be a drawback of this mortgage program. Reason behind choosing your own mortgage term: You can choose your own mortgage term in accordance with your budget. This will help you avoid burning a hole in your pocket while paying back the owed amount. You can set your mortgage term according to age you plan to retire. Therefore, before your retirement you'll be able to pay back the mortgage loan and avoid def

Springhill Care Group: Why Laughter is the Best Medicine - 0 views

We all hear this often, laughter is the best medicine. Despite the fact that this may be an old saying, it still holds as true up to present. Laughter grants a lot of health benefits. And what makes it a lot better, best of all, it is free and easy. Laughter helps to unite people going through difficult times this is according to HelpGuide.org. It can be able to also mend feelings of defeat and resentment, make anger softer, and generally help people become resilient or even losing someone. The therapeutic effortlessness of a soft smile or a hearty belly laugh has more of benefits than what was mentioned. It is much like of an exercise, there are many benefits plus the physical benefits of laughter can last for hours. These helpful gains may aid to: * Brighten mental clarity * Reduce blood pressure * Spark the immune system * Relax muscles and ease digestion * Release endorphins to dampen pain * Boost oxygen levels to the brain and circulatory system As a universal lingo, laughter is capable of also building social ties and dispersing anxiety. It smooths the progress of relationship and permits attachments while dropping social fear factors. Steve Wilson, Director of National Humor Month and Founder of The World Laughter Tour, started an international happiness epidemic in laughter clubs and outreach programs led by Certified Laughter Leaders. His methodology "utilizes a systematic activity approach that is based on a foundation of both ancient practices and modern medical science," and it supports primary treatment as an adjunctive therapeutic modality. Group laughter can also save you away from pain and depression through natural release even though anger and crying has long been conventional vehicles for catharsis and release in psychotherapy. Its consequence can be in impulsiveness of thinking and make the horrifying more reachable. This constructs a height of consciousness where one can move a bit further and w

SLIDEBOOM: Springhill Care Group: Netflix announce loss on 1Q - 0 views

Slide 1 Springhill Care Group: Netflix announce loss on 1Q Slide 2 The largest video subscription service provider Netflix fell the most in 6 months, following a prediction of slowdown in growth of local streaming subscribers. Netflix has posted a net loss of 8 cents per stock or USD 4.58 million during the first quarter due to costs from the United Kingdom and Latin America expansion. That is significantly smaller than the USD 9 to 27 million loss projected in January. Meanwhile, sales increased by 21% to USD 869.8 million, beating the estimated USD 865.5 million. According to Springhill Florida Group, Netflix could gain 200,000-800,000 streaming subscribers during the 2nd quarter as opposed to a net increase of 1.7 million during the last one. Stockholders seemed to have hesitated, accounting for a fall in its shares, 65% in the previous year. Slide 3 Its DVD-by-mail service is still a major part of the profits accounting for 46% of the total, despite having less than half of the number of subscribers on its streaming counterpart. But even if the mail service is rapidly losing subscribers as they turn to streaming, the loss rate is fortunately declining. On the other hand, streaming services accounts for 13% of the total profits during the recent quarter. Fortunately, the firm has set a streaming record on its first quarter, with subscribers watching an average of 1 hour per day. And as part of maintaining its recovery, CEO Reed Hastings announced that there are no plans to raise prices and their primary focus now is on adding more subscribers. But with an increasing number of competitors, Netflix needs to stand out. However, with its subscribers not increasing as much as they hoped, Hastings hopes to invest into original series and expand globally. Those plans obviously cost a lot of money and without revenue from ads, it only relies on the influx of more subscribers. Slide 4 Netflix has new US subscribers for its streaming services, accounting or 1.7 mil

Springhill Care Group: All eyes on Foxconn inspection - 0 views

Foxconn Technology, one of the largest electronics manufacturers in the world and the center of the recent Apple labor scandal, has announced on Saturday that it will reduce overtime and increase wages in their factories. Foxconn's announcement that they will increase wages up to 25% (which is about USD 400 a month) came after they have been put in the spotlight for the bad working conditions on its factories. Factories depend on the workers being present for 6-7 days per week, sometimes for as long as fourteen hours each day. Their workers welcomed the announcement on overtime limits and raises but some are understandably skeptical if it would be realized. In order to satisfy their critics, Apple hired a labor group to inspect the factories they work with. Fair Labor Association, a watchdog for working conditions has reportedly found 'tons of issues' in the Foxconn plan in Shenzhen, China. The FLA monitoring team composed of 30 members is set to interview 35,000 randomly picked employees of Foxconn. A premature pronouncement from a member of the monitoring team sparked outrage - that he issued assessments already even before workers have been interviewed should have no room in the official conclusion. It is amazing how someone in the inspection group could conclude positivelywith only a hosted tour of the plant as his basis. He even said that the Foxconn plant is one of the best ones in the country. In reality, alleged violations could be very difficult to detect during an inspection because the owner will be forwarned and can promptly arrange a cover-up. Spring Hill Church of Christ - Spring Hill Tennessee TN - 0 views

Our Heritage Brother F.C. Sowell held two tent meetings years before the Spring Hill Church of Christ was established. The seed, which is the word of God (Luke 8:11 ), was sown at that time. Later, a few Christians began to conduct worship services, the first being held on May 1, 1915 . Seventeen people were present for the first service. The first gospel meeting for the newly formed church was held by Brother E.A. Elam. Brother H.W. Rye held meetings the next two years. The services were held for three years each Sunday afternoon in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church building. The elders who served at that time were Brothers Lee Prentice, Albert Carpenter and R.L. Hays. The deacons were Jim Goad, J.W. Beasley and J.A.C. Jones. Brother W.L. Green served as treasurer. In the year 1918, the elders bought lots on Depot Street from Brother Charlie Mahon, and the first building owned by Spring Hill Church of Christ was erected. Brother Rye held the first meeting in the new church building. In the years following, gospel meetings were held by such men as C.M. Pullias, Ben Harding and Andy Largen. The church had preachers from David Lipscomb College once a month. Brother Clifford was one of those who came from time to time. In those early years of the church's existence, the weekly contributions were often just two or three dollars. Bible class teachers in those days were Brother R.L. Hays, Sister R.L. Hays, Sister J.A.C. Jones and Sister Will Green. During the first years in the new building there were no classrooms. They divided into different groups in the auditorium. When someone obeyed the gospel they were taken to a little creek not far away to be baptized. In 1936 the Tennessee Orphans' Home moved to Spring Hill from Columbia . There were a total of forty-eight (48) children under the supervision of Brother S.O. Owens. With those additional people, it was necessary to build three classrooms. With a rather steady increase in number, especially childre

I know that Bristol board is usually used for catalog and book covers, tickets, tags and printing brochures. But as a student of architecture and an avid designer, I use this kind of paper for my scale models (which, for those who are not familiar with the term, is a smaller physical version of something bigger, like a building or an automobile). I currently have several sets of two- and three-ply bristol papers that are used as walls of my scale models. One-ply is almost translucent so I rarely use them. Bristol, as it is commonly referred to, is a kind of paperboard which is ideal for tons of things and comes in a variety of colors. I love using Bristol paper because it's very versatile. I buy a whole bunch of them and stack them on my desk so I have something nice to use in various illustrations, technical drawings and even 2D art forms. Actually, illustration boards are also fine in such purposes but I find it impractical for you can only use one side of it. On the other hand, Bristol board have two working surfaces, so basically, you can use either or both sides. And because I normally use charcoal and crayon as my primary media form, vellum finish is more ideal for me. It has a moderate surface texture which is really apt for friction-based medium. Works well with pens, too! (But if you are more focused on using ink, choose the plate finish Bristol paper instead -- it's glass-like texture is better suited for ink.) The current brand I use is from Springhill Vellum Bristol. This Bristol paper works like a charm. And it's very accessible, even online. Just go to Amazon,s website and search for Springhill Vellum Bristol Gold. One pack contains 5 sheets and weighs a total of 1 pound so it's not that costly even if you order online. Their gold colored is consistent all throughout the papers and it is the exact hue I needed, too! I also found out it worked nicely when used in promotional materials (when I once ran out of specialty paper for our theater presentation)

http://news.springhillcaregroup.net/2013/03/20/news-springhill-care-group-effective-communication-with-the-elderly/ It is quite a challenge sometimes to talk or to communicate to elderly because you may need to consider and deal with differences in ages, ideals, priorities and perhaps even hearing or mental cognition issues on top. Don't close your mind and take it for consideration that your elderly friend or loved one may have been raised differently. Generation gap is another issue why it can be hard to communicate with the elderly but once understood, you will find many wonderful things to learn from one another if you just take the time to listen. http://news.springhillcaregroup.net/

Patient Outcomes Improve Under Single Home Health Aides - 1 views

http://news.springhillcaregroup.net/2013/05/02/patient-outcomes-improve-under-single-home-health-aides/ According to a recent study by SAGE Publications, individuals receiving home health services stand to experience better outcomes if cared for by the same aide day in and day out. According to the study Continuity in the Provider of Home Health Aide Services and the Likelihood of Patient Improvement in Activities of Daily Living, patients who see the same home health aide across a series of visits have a higher likelihood of improving in various activities of daily living (ADLs) compared to patients whose care is provided by multiple aides. Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY) is a large, urban, non-profit Medicare certified home health agency. Base from their studies, they found that individuals who were cared for continuously by the same aide had a 93% chance of improving their ADLs. Those who experienced low-continuity of care were roughly 14%-15% hardly to recover their ADLs involving home health admission and discharge than persons who were constantly visited by the similar aide. Those who experienced low-continuity of care is implying to care was spread out among a variety of aides over the course of a home health service period. Furthermore of note in the report, cases where patients had moderate-continuity did not considerably fluctuate from higher permanence cases in their likelihood of ADL development. Researchers note that the odds of improvement among cases with high continuity are greater than those for low continuity even if a greater part of cases in the study's populace enhanced in the figure and severity of ADLs between admission and discharge. "Ideally, patients should receive services from a single aide over the entire period of home care," writes the study's lead author David Russell, Ph.D, Center for Home Care Policy & Research at VNSNY. This is why there's a growing drive to integrate housing provision with health and social care. But how exactly can housing providers ensure they deliver the right facilities and support for vulnerable people, to help build integrated and sustainable communities? I believe the housing sector's skills and resources will be key to helping social care and health providers sustain services while budgets are reducing, and provide a better experience for those with long-term needs. http://www.slideshare.net/allanbrooks03/home-care-group-springhill-blog-reviews-technology-helps-elderly-to-stay-at-home

SlideBoom: Group of Springhill South Korea: Wallabies star pens Chiefs deal - 0 views

  •
SLIDEBOOM (GROUP OF SPRINGHILL SOUTH KOREA) - Exeter Chiefs boss Rob Baxter was delighted with the capture of Wallabies star Dean Mumm who has penned a two-year deal at the club. The south west outfit announced the signing on Monday, with the 28-year-old set to move to the English top flight from New South Wales Waratahs after the conclusion of the current Super 15 season. The 27-year-old made his Waratahs' debut back in 2004 and has won more than 30 caps for the Australia national side. He can also operate at flanker but prefers to do his work in the boiler room, and Baxter feels he has everything required to be a massive part of the club's future over the next couple of seasons. "He's a very good signing for us and a very good player," he told reporters. "He is a back five forward coming into his physical prime. "We've looked at lot at him and we believe he has got a lot of ingredients that we want him to bring to the club." Exeter finished eight in their debut season in the Premiership but are currently fifth in the standings this season with just one regular-season game to go. Victory over Northampton at the weekend would have guaranteed them a play-off berth but the 18-15 defeat means they must now win at Saracens to have any chance of making the top four. Despite the disappointment, Baxter feels that it is testament to how far the club has come that top players now want to come and ply their trade in Devon. "Personally, I think it's a great credit to what the players have achieved this season, and where we are as a club right now, that a guy of that standing wants to come and play his rugby here in Exeter," he added. In Betfair you can either make a back bet (bet on who's going to win) or place a lay bet (bet against something happening). Betfair matches people on either side of the bet with the odds they agree. Simple. Use this £25 free bet and give it a try. Here are some betting tips from Betfair's tipsters: Read more about Rugby Union.

London 2012 Olympics: badminton eight from China, Indonesia and South Korea expelled-NE... - 1 views

  •
TELEGRAPH UK - Four pairs in the women's doubles were disqualified from the Olympics for underperforming in the final group stages on Tuesday night as they deliberately tried to lose by spraying shots wide or into the net to secure an easier quarter-final draw. The players, the Chinese world champions Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang, Greysia Poli and Meiliana Jauhari of Indonesia and two South Korean pairs, Jung Kyung-eun and Kim Ha-na, and Ha Jung-eun and Kim Min Jung, were jeered by the crowd. The organising committee for the Games will not be offering refunds to spectators who attended on Tuesday evening, despite Lord Coe describing the incident as "depressing" and asking: "Who wants to sit through something like that?" Officials from the sport's governing body conducted a frantic round of meetings as they hastily arranged a disciplinary panel. An official announcement of its findings was only made public as spectators took their seats for last night's women's doubles quarter-finals. Pairs from Canada, South Africa, Russia and Australia, who had thought their Olympics were over, had to hastily prepare for a return to court in front of a sell-out crowd. "We found out we were playing at 3 o'clock," said Michelle Edwards, of South Africa. "Everything was so last minute. We packed our bags, rush, rush, rush and here we are. The mental preparation was almost zero." South Africa lost 2-0 to Russia but Australia took Canada to three sets before losing. The episode was deeply embarrassing for the badminton authorities who would have been aware that Jacques Rogge, president of the International Olympic Committee, recently described match fixing as the biggest threat to the Games. With all athletes and coaches swearing to uphold the Olympic oath at the opening ceremony, this damaged the integrity of the Games. The stakes were high for the badminton authorities with the prospect of two sports being removed from the Olympics before Rio 2016. "We are very
