    review article of anti-inflammatory effects of Boswellia.  Boswellia inhibits 5-LOX and resultant leukotrienes.  3-actyl-11-keto-Beta-boswellic acid is the most potent inhibitor of 5-LOX.  As it relates to disease states and symptoms, Boswellia reduces pain in OA and RA.  Boswellia also shown to inhibit NF-kappa B: a potent nuclear transcription factor for inflammation.  In prostate cancer, Boswellia inhibits prostate tumor growth.

    Pregnancy is a immunosuppressive state.  Estriol therapy mimics that through decrease in T cell migration and activation.  Estriol moved the Tcells to a Th2 dominance and also was found to inhibit NF-kappaB.  Estriol decreased TNF-alpa through IL-10 production.

    Study looked at inflammatory markers in RA.  The authors point to high aromatase activity, low androgens, and elevated estrone in synovial fluid as an indicator of a link between aromatase activity and inflammation production through E1 production.  The authors also point to the 16 alpha metabolite pathway as pro-inflammatory as well.  One very interesting point made by the authors is that vitamin D down regulates aromatase activity.  In addition to NK-kappaB inhibition, this may be another mechanism by which vitamin D reduces inflammation.

    Great article.  Immune dysfunction plays role in autoimmune disease and cancer.  Treg cells sit at the center of autoimmunity.  This artice highlights the different uses: low dose IL2 therapy to augment Tregs and reduce autoinflammation and high dose IL2 to augment Treg cells in the fight against cancer.
