  •  The good news is that there are many theme parks that welcome guests with disabilities and make special accommodations for them.  Some of these are big-name parks with multiple locations, others are small, family-owned parks highly rated by theme park aficionados.  A big bonus is that the whole family can have a great time at a fraction of the cost of a Disney vacation.  Here’s a list of 39 theme parks to consider for your next vacation.

Autism in the Family: Getting the Big Picture | Blog | Autism Speaks - 0 views

  • I became a typical father in 1979.  It was a dream come true—those magical first smiles, first steps, first words. Then in 1981, my son stopped talking, stopped playing normally, and began flapping his arms.  From those first red flags of autism until now, I have not stopped experiencing autism and the family—the central theme of my life and work—counseling, teaching, and writing about the impact of autism on families.

EveryBody: An Artifact History of Disability in America - 0 views

  • Many stories and events related to people with disabilities never make it into the history books or shared public memories. Familiar concepts and events such as citizenship, work, and wars become more complicated, challenge our assumptions about what counts as history, and transform our connection with each other when viewed from the historical perspective of people with disabilities, America’s largest minority. Knowing these histories deepens understanding of the American experience and reveals how complicated history really is. In addition, when history comes through artifacts, distinct themes emerge—for example, the significance of place, relationships, and technology—that are less apparent when only books and words are used.

Kids Wish Network for kids with life-threatening conditions - 0 views

  • Since 1997, Kids Wish Network has been making dreams come true for hundreds of thousands of children all over the world. We started out with the single purpose of granting wishes to children suffering with life-threatening conditions. Since then, we created a unique range of programs designed to bring hope and joy to children facing life-altering circumstances who demonstrated needs above and beyond the extent of wishes.
  • We grant wishes to kids between ages 3 and 18 who are battling life-threatening conditions. Our Wish Kids can request just about anything for their wish, such as trips to theme parks, celebrity meet and greets, travel, or shopping sprees.
