What:
The Pyramid Model for Supporting Social Emotional Competence in Infants and Young Children is a conceptual framework of evidence-based practices developed by two national, federally-funded research and training centers: The Center for the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) and The Technical Assistance Center for Social Emotional Intervention (TACSEI). Most recently, TACSEI developed a family coaching approach for implementing the Pyramid Model with caregivers in homes. This approach was developed to support home visitors who are working with caregivers of infants and toddlers with or at-risk for disabilities. The approach focuses on supporting home visitors in the use of evidence-based family coaching strategies to enhance caregivers' capacity to promote their infant or toddlers' social emotional competence. This presentation will describe the family coaching approach to implementing the pyramid model. When:

During this webinar, engage with Pearl Buck Center's Preschool Director, Dr. Renee Van Norman, as she describes a tiered model of prevention and promotion that focuses on providing comprehensive interventions and supports to children and their families by matching the intensity of interventions to the individual need for support (McIntosh et al., 2006). In this preschool program-wide model, universal-level supports were delivered to families through carefully crafted school-wide activities and Family Fun/Education Nights. Secondary and tertiary-level supports were provided through home visits and classroom instruction. Assessment data and related tools as part of a system of continuous quality improvement will be shared.

What:
SENG Model Parent Groups (SMPGs) bring together 10 to 20 interested parents of gifted and talented children to discuss such topics as motivation, discipline, stress management, and peer relationships.
The co-facilitators of the group, though they are knowledgeable about parenting and about educating gifted/talented children, do not attempt to give expert advice to families. Instead their facilitation provides a non-judgmental and nurturing atmosphere. The parents of the high-ability children are themselves a rich resource of information, and they are able to get fresh ideas from other parents and from A Parent's Guide to Gifted Children, the book around which the sessions are organized. The groups meet weekly for 8-10 weeks. By the end of the training you will understand:

In this webinar, Kim Spencer, senior manager of the K12 Homebound Education Program, will outline the unique logistical, educational and emotional obstacles that homebound students face as they attempt to balance academics and recovery. She will also discuss how she is currently working with districts across the country to help their students overcome these obstacles and stay engaged and on-track with school work, while partnering with the school district to operate an online program at a lesser cost than their traditional program. You will not want to miss this transformative institute employing place-based and inquiry-driven strategies to fulfill your goals of developing college and career ready skills while learning about Montana Tribes.

The instructors will guide participants through a series of experiences that model best practices and explore concepts and content embedded in the Montana Tribal Histories and Framework documents. The place and inquiry based strategies you will experience can be taken directly into your classroom, with content from any domain, to improve the quality of teaching and learning.  Bring your walking shoes, and your creative and adventuresome spirit. You will leave this workshop with renewed energy to take a leadership role in your school, implementing Indian Education for All and the Common Core Standards with both stronger content knowledge, and fantastic instructional strategies to add depth and meaning to all your school improvement efforts.

The goal of this webinar is to present a model that can be used collaboratively by advocates, parents, students, and teachers to identify unambiguous accommodations. Webinar participants will: Learn the legal bases for accommodations and their purpose. Explore examples of ambiguous accommodations, which might actually hinder, rather than support the individual.
