Here are a few of Tara's favorites from Closing the Gap. iHomework, available for $.99, is a simple application to keep school work and life organized. Visules, available for $4.99, is a visual support created by a father of a child with autism. Visules communicates checklists and prompts using text, images and colors. Visual Scheduler, available for $2.99, is an organizational tool using video, visual and audio prompting. iStudiez Pro (formerly iStudent Pro), available for $2.99, is a multi function homework planner that helps a user take charge of their schedule.

During the week, you'll learn how to use the GPS to enhance your ability to travel in current and new environments. Additional activities planned for the week include tandem biking, movie night and kayaking, just to name a few! Instructor to Student Ratio: GPS Camp has a 1:3 instructor-to-student ratio to ensure a personalized experience for all participants. Lodging: Campers stay in the residence facility on our beautiful campus in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Male and female students reside in separate areas of the residence and are supervised by Leader Dog staff. MASP Supervision Institute 2011 - 0 views

  • In relation to new state licensure requirements, we will be offering supervision training for experienced Class 6 School Psychologists in the Spring of 2011. Successful applicants will have at least three years full-time experience and be willing to offer supervision to Class 5 school psychologists holding an alternative license who are completing their formal internships within districts. Training will be provided with the support of the Office of Public Instruction and two applicants from each CSPD region will be welcome to attend. The two-day course will be based on an NASP format and taught by staff from the University of Montana, Missoula, and members of the MASP Competency Review Board. Training will be held in Helena on March 18 and April 15, 2011,  and will include both group work and independent study.  A small stipend will be offered to psychologists who plan to offer supervision within their region. Office of Public Instruction recertification credit will be available or one continuing education credit from the University of Montana, based on a minimum of 15 hours attendance. This conference is for everyone who loves and works with children and adults with autism every day. This year we will highlight Communication and iOS devices - iPads, iPods and iPhones. Today’s technological advances offer highly interactive tools that can be used to help build communication skills. During our event you will learn how to choose applications appropriate for your needs, whether you are a parent, educator or practitioner. Through demonstration and actual hands-on training you will be introduced to a variety of applications that use interactive text, illustrations, painting, animation, voice recording, stories, songs and speech/language based activities that may be helpful in developing communication abilities of children and adults on the Autism spectrum. Practitioners can use these devices to help people with cognitive-behavioral needs through applications that target social skills and executive functioning like planning, organization, attention and memory.  We will also benefit from meeting and hearing from people of all ages who are navigating through life on the spectrum. Their stories will inspire, educate and bring us closer as a group as we take action to improve the lives of individuals with autism.
