Article on Ohio have one of the highest "rates of poverty and some of the lowest household income. This came as an eye opener that poverty is closer to us than we sometimes think. In our perspective Ohio would never look like the place with one of the highest rates of poverty and lowest household income but this article really opened my eyes.

I didn't know that OHIO had one of the most highest poverty rates.

This Article was about the percent of people in poverty living in factory town. I was really amazed that east Cleveland leads the state in poverty.

It makes me think that maybe as Phoenix we could help reach out to people and give them something that could change their life.

I agree with Marley. I also found it shocking that death rates are higher in cities were the gap between poor and rich is wide. You would think it would be higher if the gap between poor and rich wasnt wide. The article states that its like that because "a generally undesirable social climate that's inherently more stressful."

I was surprised to hear that the west was in the most poverty, I had always thought of the west as well off.

I found it interesting that poverty rates have droped world wide, but the rate of people likely to slip into poverty is rising.

proverty has grown 41.7 percent in ohio last year. Most of the people who have proverty has a family of four. Thats just sad because i have a family of 4 and we are having hard times with money. My family is working out the prombles fast because we don't want to go homeless.

It was surprising that the population only increased 1% but the poverty level increased 41%. It made me realize how many people are in poverty right here in Ohio.

This article really opens your eyes to the reason why we have poverty. It gives who is to blame and why many people don't know about poverty or very little about it.

I read it and it looked very sad and it made me feel sorry for the people, but also the facts are very shocking. The "1 in 6 families have the government's anti-poverty program" made me think that about 13 people in here have the program.

This is very depressing. We need to do something before it gets worse.

It's amazing how much the food stamp program has increased and how many families are in poverty! I also like how they make the facts short and add pictures, because for me it makes it much more interesting.

I think this site should open peoples eyes. .When i think of causes of poverty this never came to mind. This is a big cause of people who are in poverty. Do you think that even if a single mother had a good education she would still be in poverty? I think so IFF the child or children could take care of themselves long enough for the mother to find a decent job to support the family.

I think the saddest thing about this is that there is so much good info and statistics out there, like this website, but so many people don't know how bad poverty really is. I had no idea that poverty was this bad, or that it was increasing this fast.

This site has statistics of homelessness all over the world! India has the highest homeless rate out of all 100,000,000 people without homes in all of the world, with 78,000,000 people out on the street. This are some shocking numbers, and really deserve to have a look. I find it amazing that there's enough homeless people in Hong Kong alone for them to make the list with other countries.

Proverty effects people in many ways hunger, homelesness and more. In this artical I learned where hunger stricks the most in the world. I also saw how the rate of hunger has changed though out history to today. It hurt me to find out that "world hunger" is 925 million people.

I couldn't believe how many people were in poverty and how how fast it was rising. When i read this i wanted to donate food to food pantries so people in poverty could have more to eat.

I found it very shocking by how much the poverty rate increased from 2008 to 2009. It didnt even show 2010 or 2011 which means it must have rapidly increased again. Its a great website but a very sad one.

35.9 million people in America live below the poverty line. About 100 billion pounds of food each year is wasted in America. Those living in poverty would gladly accept the food that would go to waste. Some families have to skip a meal or each very little becasue they can't afford to eat alot. In a house, about 14% of the food that is bought will be wasted. And around 49 million people could have been fed by that food. \nSeeing all of the wasted food and people that could use that food makes me want to find a way to save some of that food and give it to people in poverty. Also it's sad to know that there are alot of kids out there that live in poverty. If I were a parent it would be hard on me not being able to provide for my kids.
