This site will tell about facts and causes of poverty. It really amazed me how most of humanity lives on just a few dollars a day.

This article contains the causes of poverty as well as possible solutions. This article aslo has many other arrticles within it about poverty. I was amazed at some of the statistics this article gave but also hopeful that the problem is being addressed and solutions are being thought of.

This website Starts with some poverty facts like that 1 out of 2 children live in poverty. Then it continues with an article. Almost Half the world lives on 2.50 a day. Less than one per cent of what the world spent every year on weapons was needed to put every child into school by the year 2000 and yet it didn't happen. It also has some solutions to poverty.

This article had several subsections about things like major causes and poverty around the world. It had a lot of statistics about poverty that I didn't know before like the fact that less than 1% of what the world spends on military wepons was needed to put every child in schools by 2000 but id didn't happen, or that 1 out of 2 children live in poverty around the world. It was really sad.

Almost half of the people in the world live on $2.50 or less per day. 1 billion children are in poverty. Growing countries with growing economies put financial stress on people in poverty because things cost a lot of money to provide the government with money. I thought this was interesting learning about how poverty affects the world and how not much is being done for people in poverty.

Sometimes it isn't your fault for being in poverty. You may be born in poverty, and you may have not have a lot of money to begin with. But some people have addictions to drugs, alcohol, gambling etc.

This site gives reasons for poverty as well as data. This site is a compilation of a lot of articles on poverty through 2000.

This is about what the causes of poverty are and what people going through poverty have to live with every day. I was surprised that over 3 billion people have to live off of less that $3 a day considering how much things cost here. A school lunch for us is around there so that is like just eating one meal every day.

I think that the charts and graphs on this website were interesting. It's shocking that over 3 BILLION people around the world are living off of less than $3 a day.

Wow. It was really interesting for me to here that poverty actually has to do with politics. I never knew that politics had anything to do with poverty.

I was supried when i found out that both parties are to blam for the econimy.

It really made the problem stand out the way it was wrote. The article really enlarged the problem and hopefully that will help people to see it.

It made sense to me because i neveer felt like america was ever really in debt. I would hear it in the news then go to the polairs mall and couldnt find a parking lot so it just didn't hit me. When i herd about middle class slipping into proverty it started to scare me because my dad's work place is letting people go and my mom has alredy had to deal with that at her work place. What if they are choosen to be let go of, will i still be able to live in worthington? so its kinda scary.

I thought it was crazy that the U.S. has the third worst poverty rate out of all the developed nations. I knew it was a problem, but I didn't know how bad. i mean you think of the u.S as being one of the richer countries, but we are struggling a lot too.

I liked how it repeated that the US is becoming poorer and poorer month after month because it means it is a serious problem. ANd I never thought that the politics had anything to do with poverty, I always thought it was just that people weren't able to afford things and stuff like that...

This article is very upfront and sort of forces you to listen to it. It really hit me when they said that many people think that America is and always will be "the wealthiest country." But even though we are better off than some countries, many people in America are struggling to put food on the table; those kinds of things, like eating dinner every night, I just take for granted.

I saw the fact about how one out of every six families are on a plan for anti-poverty. It was really surprising and I was wondering if the other five out of six people are left alone or are they getting help locally?

I found it sad that the U.S. where we think we are so much better than everyone else we have the third worst poverty rate among devoloped countries

More people die as a result of extreme poverty than of any other cause. I wanna know what from poverty, from not being able to buy food or is it from not being able to go to a doctor when they are sick? Is it both? I wanna know what exactly is it. I was hurt to find out the 10 million kids in developing countiers die before the age of 5. Its painful to hear about thoose things and now at this moment i am woundering what is for lunch and i had breakfast this morning and that i am already 13 and have had a nice life so far but some kids wont even get to be my age.

I can not believe how sad some of this facts are. I did not know that 1/3 of deaths are accounted for by poverty (hunger, homlessness) That was outragous. I really liked how quick and easy the facts were, so you learned lots in a short amount of time.

its strange how even though we are the richest country in the world, we have millions in poverty, and the poverty rate is increasing quickly. it makes me feel sad that i didnt know about any of this and that a lot of these people dont get a lot of help

Four times as more in only three years? Thats amazing. If it keeps increasing at this rate imagine how bad it will be in 2013! We do need to start doing something about this.

I didn't know there were food stamps, or even an all time food stamp record! These 15 facts, though very short, are to the point and informational. The pictures were very depressing, but thes are the pictures of poverty.

I really like this website. It is basically a bunch of facts and statistics about poverty. On this website they take statistics from a lot of different websites. And they have facts about Global poverty, National poverty, and State poverty. I really like this because I can learn about 3 different types of poverty. :^D

That's horrible how much poverty is rising in the world.

I was very surprised that one billion people cant read. I think not being able to read would affect how you live because reading is a big part of life. In most jobs there is a need to know how to read, and if you dont know how, you're not going to stay in a job for very long.

iI couldn't believe that half the world is in poverty. I can't imagine not being able to read. my life would be really boring if i couldn't read.

I was shocked when i saw that more than 37 million americans living in poverty.I didnt know there was that many people living in poverty.

It was nice that the statistics included numbers from 2010. It gives a better perspective of the issue.

It really amazed me how little they live on a day. They live on a dollar a day and I go the mall and buy $100 worth of clothes.

It Disturbied me to learn that about every min some where in the wolrd a women dies giving birth. It also shocked me that about 40% of the worlds population doesnt have bacis sanitary water.

A lot of the facts in this are pretty suprising, like that every 3.6 some one dies of starvation.

It made me feel really bad when it said that six million kids die every year from malnutrition before their 5th birthday.

I could not believe that 800 million people every day go to bed hungry, and that 300 million of them are kids.

800 million people go to bed hungry every night! I don't even know what it feels like to be starved or to go to bed without food. I can't even begin to imagine what these people are going through.

Tara's right...it's hard to put yourself in somebody else's shoes when you are so used to having basic things, like food. But it's important to try.

The Paragrapsh that really caught my attention was the phone tittled "Big corperations make poor pay higher taxes" becuase it just seems crazy to me that you would tax the people who are the most likely not to be able to pay? not to mention the majority who would be buying the corperations product?

If i was hungry before i went to bed, i would just walk downstairs and get a snack. It's hard to imagine that these people do not have that, and that they are almost always hungry. I just can't even imagine that.

This article is very depressing, the way it's written. But, it does have very interesting facts. It's hard to believe that basically 1 in 6 people are living on less than a dollar a day. In our country, a dollar can barely buy you a burrito or a burger. Although some people may use the excuse that stuff costs less in other places, so what? In our country, the minimum wage is about $56 dollars a day, and a lot of people have other money saved up. It seems like so much, compared to the less than one dollar, but people are barely getting by on that. It's just not fair that a lot of people have a ton of money, but there are more people living on pratically no money.

This article was not only informational, but it made me hopeful. Full of statistics, this article gives you information on the effects of poverty AND tells you what is currently being done to help this growing problem in America. "Everyday 2,660 children are born into poverty; 27 die because of it." Although this fact is saddening, I was inspired by this fact: "In 1995, 49% of American adults regularly did some form of volunteer work -- a total of 20.3 billion hours." It's good to see that children in poverty are being helped by those more fortunate than themselves. (:

Wow! Has it really gotten so bad that 1 in 4 familys struggle to put food on the table? I meen,i can't think about that because sometimes if i don't like whats on my plate then i throw it away and some people woule die for that.

The "Causes of Hunger in the US" article was super interesting. It made me realize that we have so much food in the US but if you don't have money to buy it, then you just can't buy it at all.

I was shocked where it said, "At least 80% of humanitly lives on less than $10 a day". There's something wrong with humanity if this is all we have. This article gives a lot of surprising facts.

Some of the graphs really made me sad. There was $105 billion spent on alcoholic drinks and $400 billion spent on narcotics drugs, what really made me sad was that there was only $6 billion spent on BASIC education, and $9 billion spent on water sanitation throughout the world. It made me sad..

These are statistics about poverty. There are several graphs and charts that show how poverty effects different countries. Alot of the graphs are surprising and make me very sad. In 1998 more money was spent on Narcotics Drugs and Alcoholic Drinks than was spent on sanitation, basic education, and health (nutrition)

Looking at the pictures made me really sad, and i can't believe that 15 million orphans in this one area of Africa have HIV

About poverty in Africa and it has stories, and pictures, and facts . i was really sad how the artical said "it is estimated that more than 18 million people have died to date, of which over 3 million were children. Additionally, more than 25 million adults " i was shocked

I was so sad when i found out that in 2009, 15.5 million (20.7 percent) children under the age of 18 were in poverty. Just imagen there could be some in are class.

it was sad that throughout the years the percent tile has increased but it is a good thing that some of the numbers are going down aswell. that means people are getting better with their life. :D but its still veeery sad that people have to live like this.

All the statistics started to scare me. With all of the percentages and numbers, and with them RISING< it just is kind of worrying me.

I can't believe 11% of all families are in poverty. That's about one in ten families. I know at least ten families... It's too bad that there is enough money and resources for everyone, but after preschool, everyone forgot how to share. Imagine how the world would be more serene if everyone had the same amount of money.

I was surprised to hear that 5.6 million people in the U.S. have used food pantries, that is a lot more than I thought.

i never knew how big of an impact food pantries had. i was surprised that 4.8% of people in the US had to go to a food pantry once...i thought only a few homeless people went there. and that 57% of people in poverty get reduced lunches in school...i could not imagine how embarassing that would be.

Poverty is sad, 600 million children are living in extreme poverty. 75 million children are out of school. It's horrible because they don't even get a chance for a good life without school.

i think one of the saddest thing is that kidsw are dying from curable diseases. that means that we arent doing enough to make sure that everyone gets the treatment they deserve.

This website shows deaths this hour, and sadly it is mostly kids ans women who die. I noticed none of the deaths are from America.

Well, this article tells you facts about poverty. It tells you organizations that help out this problem too. It told me that over 25,000 people die because of poverty and I was like, "OMGNOWAY!!"

It really mad me sad to see all of the faces on the map. It made me sad, but yet it mezmorized me to see all of the people that had died

I hated how the faces were showing up, but what made me sad was that most of them were in asia, africa, and a few were in south america. What i REALLY didn't like was at the bottom of the home page, it said the faces and the names were fake.

One person dies every 3 and a half seconds according to the United Nations. Children die more often than adults. The world has plenty of food to feed everyone but the problem is that people are trapped in severe poverty. They dont have the money to buy the food. If they never have food, they become week and sick causing them to not work and they get poorer. There are programs around the world the can help children buy food when they are at school so their families can save money.

It's sad just knowing how many people die from poverty, but seeing their faces makes it even worse!

I was supried when i found out that the top 10 poorest cities, three are in Ohio are Cleveland, Cincinnati and Toledo. I meen those are mentioned all the time for art shows and cool events and to think that they are poor?!! wow!

i agree with adele about the cool events. I drive though cinncinati a couple times a year and i see the big stadium plus i have family down there who are dintist so i never would have thought it would be one of the more poor cities in ohio. I also can't believe clevland because its up by lake errie and i travle there too and i would think they would have more job opertunities from working the ferries or working at cedier point.But i guess thats why its so shocking to me.

this amazed me that no other state has more than one city that is in poverty. Coming from the state ohio, living in columbus, i had no idea toledo, cleveland, and cincinnati was in poverty.

This article really surprised me. I couldn't believe that Ohio has the most cities in poverty! I never really thought that our state was really poor, until I read this article.

I always thought Ohio didnt have a lot of poverty, but that is just becasue I'm protected from it, so i never see it. this is a huge eye opener because even working families in Ohio arent doing well financially.

I never thought that poverty in Ohio was this bad. I guess I just hadn't opened up my eyes to the people who are struggling. To see that our home is riddled with hardship is not only sad, but it is a monumental weight on your mind.

This is Crazy, In Marion The Salvation Army's food pantry served 1,020 This August. The number of people doubled from a year ago. This shows that more and more people need support, its sad

It's scary to think that Ohio is has more poor people in this year than last year. Hopefully, we can get reduce poverty levels in Ohio again.

I thought this website was interesting because it put a label on "developed" or "developing" countries when really all countries how some sort of poverty or suffering in their economy.
