It has facts and stats on poverty like the percentage of people in the world at different poverty levels. And it tells how much people die from poverty. it made me sad that alot of people live on 2.50$ or less on food everyday!

Wow...this article really grabs you with the first few facts. I find it heartbreaking that 1 in 2 children, over 1 billion in all, live in poverty. When one is born into poverty, it's hard to leave it. These 1 billion children may never know what it's like to not be hungry.

I think it's sad how 27% of children with teen moms grow up in poverty. They deserve a better life than that even though they can't control who their mom is.

I think this site should open peoples eyes. .When i think of causes of poverty this never came to mind. This is a big cause of people who are in poverty. proverty has grown 41.7 percent in ohio last year. Most of the people who have proverty has a family of four. Thats just sad because i have a family of 4 and we are having hard times with money. My family is working out the prombles fast because we don't want to go homeless.

It was surprising that the population only increased 1% but the poverty level increased 41%. It made me realize how many people are in poverty right here in Ohio.

This article is about the causes of poverty. Poverty is caused by overpopulation, unequal distribution of resources, costs of living, inadequate education, and unemployment. I was upset by the some of the causes of poverty, but hopeful too, because some of the causes could be changed in order to end poverty.

This article is extremly useful to me since i'm thinking about doing my report thing on causes. but its amazing how many causes there are and what they are.

I think that the most prominent reasons for poverty are inadequate education and pverpopulation. This makes more sense to why the US has a lot of poverty.

Poverty Threshold is different that poverty guidelines. Threshold is normaly used for statistics, such as estimating the number of Americans in poverty. Poverty guidelines are used for administrative purposes, such as seeing if someone meets the requirments of certain programs. The poverty guildelines may also be known as 'federal poverty level.' (There are charts showing the poverty guidelines for different family sizes that live in the 48 connected staes, Alaska, and Hawii) The poverty guideline changes depending on where you live. \nI was surprized to see that in 2009 Alaska had the highest poverty guideline at $13,530 and the 48 connected states had the lowest with $10,830. I also cant imagine my family of six living off $29,530. It also makes me think about all the other nessesities that we take for granted and how people living in poverty would be really greatful for them.

Ohio has the top 3 poorest cities. i thought that ohio had tones of money before this came up. Its sad that Ohio can't help the people in those city. Why can't we lower the taxes or something like that to help the people that need it.

I was surprised to see the one of the facts said that poverty is a much more complex problem today than it was when the war on poverty began in the 1960s. I would have thought that that it would have gotten better because there were more jobs avaliable and more money. It would make sense to be bad in the 1960s because there werent a lot of jobs available. What if it keeps getting worse? What will happen in about 50 years from now? Will everybody be living in poverty? It would be helpful to find these answers out now.

This article tells you the definiton of poverty and its history in our world. It also talks about some campaigns that help to fight the poverty in the world. I thought this article was very useful beacaue then you know background to help you further your knowledge about poverty.

This site is really cool. They have statistics and facts about poverty. And then you can test your knowledge with a Hunger Quiz. And there is a section about the Hunger in America.

I couldn't believe how many people were in poverty and how how fast it was rising. When i read this i wanted to donate food to food pantries so people in poverty could have more to eat.

I found it very shocking by how much the poverty rate increased from 2008 to 2009. It didnt even show 2010 or 2011 which means it must have rapidly increased again. Its a great website but a very sad one.

I was surprised to hear that the west was in the most poverty, I had always thought of the west as well off.

This Article was about the percent of people in poverty living in factory town. I was really amazed that east Cleveland leads the state in poverty.

This article gives information about why the worst poverty in Ohio exists and what is being done about poverty in Ohio. It gives poverty rates of counties and it saddens me when I saw that east Cleveland has 32% rate of poverty. It makes me think that maybe as Phoenix we could help reach out to people and give them something that could change their life.

I think the saddest thing about this is that there is so much good info and statistics out there, like this website, but so many people don't know how bad poverty really is. I had no idea that poverty was this bad, or that it was increasing this fast.

Includes many statistics, such as food wastage in America (over 100 billion lbs per year!) and poverty rate for children (55% for children under 6 living with a single mother!). I Found some of these statistics very surprising, but sadly, not unbelieveable.

35.9 million people in America live below the poverty line. About 100 billion pounds of food each year is wasted in America. Those living in poverty would gladly accept the food that would go to waste. Some families have to skip a meal or each very little becasue they can't afford to eat alot. In a house, about 14% of the food that is bought will be wasted. And around 49 million people could have been fed by that food. \nSeeing all of the wasted food and people that could use that food makes me want to find a way to save some of that food and give it to people in poverty. Also it's sad to know that there are alot of kids out there that live in poverty. If I were a parent it would be hard on me not being able to provide for my kids.

They have improved the lives of over 31 million people living in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. I think that this article really shows how much we can help people in need. This one organization has helped over 31 million people. It's really upset me that 3 billion people are in poverty. Thats almost a 1 out of 2 kids being in poverty.

I find it amazing that a non-profit organization can be so wide spread throughout the world.
